Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

I'm playing a Knicks association with updated rosters for the 2011 season. I'm currently 32-16 and 4th in the conference behind Boston, Chicago, & Miami.

    Current line up:

    PG- Billups 79, Douglas 71
    SG - Fields 72, Walker 68, Rautins 64
    SF - Melo 89, T-Mac 76 (6th man), Balkman 67
    PF - Stat 88, Shawne Williams 66
    C - Turiaf 71, Harrellson(rookie) 64

Although the season seems to be going by just find, I'm definately stuck in a rut when playing against the top 3 teams in the conference. So far I'm 1-2 against the Heat, 1-2 against the Celtics, & 0-1 against the Bulls.

T-Mac has been the biggest surprise coming off the bench and averaging 21 ppg. But he has missed extensive time due to injuries. Of the 48 games so far, he's only played 28 games. Carmelo has also missed 14 games this season. Amare and Billups have been the iron men playing in all games so far.

Although I love Billups, I'm looking to upgrade the front court. So...

    Knicks trade :

    Chauncey Billups 79
    Landry Fields 72

    Clippers trade :

    Chris Kaman 76
Randy Foye 71 OR TJ Ford 68

Clippers get a veteran point guard in Billups to lead the outstanding young talent in LA and a young talent off the bench in Fields who could possibly start at the SF position. Giving up Kaman would give DeAndre Jordan (who they re-signed) more playing time and who is clearly their Center of the future. Pairing him up with Blake Griffin seems frightening.

I lose the production of Chauncey Billups but gain the scoring back from Kaman. I get more depth in the front court by pushing Ronny Turiaf to the bench. The gapping whole left Billups would have be filled by Douglas and Ford OR Foye. I would plan on making whoever I acquire from the CLippers the starter while keeping Douglas the fire off the bench that he has been. I'm also planning on moving T-Mac to the starting rotation at SG but he has been injured a lot. Bill Walker would also see alot of playing time. I would probably bring up Iman Shumpert from the D-League for some depth as he his a terrific defender. He will play a big role in the playoffs.

So my new lineup would look like this:

    PG - Ford/Foye, Douglas(6th man), Rautins
    SG - T-Mac, Walker, Shumpert
    SF - Melo, Balkman, Shumper
    PF - Stat, Shawne Williams
    C - Kaman, Turiaf, Harrellson

    Thoughts??

So I've probably done the stupidest trade in Association History, but sometimes I just think what the hell and I just went for it. I find these sort of trades very interesting and I'm writing this for some feedback, be as brutal as you want, I'm fine with it lol

The full trade is actually Lebron James (SF) and Luke Ridnour (PG) for Steve Nash (PG) and Eric Gordon (SG). So why in the world would I ever want to give away arguably the best player in the game? Well, it's because Lebron doesn't 'fit' well into my team. For me it's very important that each player has a very clear and identifiable role, i.e. one is a post player, one is the scorer, the other gives the assists etc. The scorer on my team is Carmelo Anthony, and Tim Duncan is my post player power forward. Marcus Camby is my Center. Yep, my team is awesome! I just feel that with Tim Duncan getting the points in the post and Melo getting the points everywhere, I just don't need Lebron and feel like I'm wasting him. I thought if I trade a Lebron I can bring in two top class players that will fit within the team scheme better.

So now my team looks like this:

          PG: Steve Nash
          SG: Eric Gordon
          SF: Carmelo Anthony
          PF: Tim Duncan
          C: Marcus Camby

It USED to look like this:

          PG: Luke Ridnour
          SG: Carmelo Anthony
          SF: Lebron James
          PF: Tim Duncam
          C: Marcus Camby

So what do you think? I haven't played any games yet with them, I'm still slightly in shock that I've done this deal lol. I've been with this team for about 3 seasons and all of a sudden it's almost completely different. Do you think it was a stroke of genius or the sort of thing a mentally deficient goat would do?

Edit: Also want to add that this will be my last season before 2k12 so I didn't take into account long term investment value.
If it wasn't for the bolded part that you edited in, I would say this would have been horrible for you to have TD who's aging and Nash who has like one or two years left. It is a solid team for a one year run, but if it was long investment, then it would be a horrible trade.

              I'm the Lakers

Lakers get Danny Granger & Roy Hibbert.

Pacers get Bynum, Matt Barnes and 2' 2nd round picks.

I know this trade will work but I don't know if I should do it.

Rate this for me. Trade i just did in my lakers association

Bulls trade Jimmy Butler, omer Asik

Lakers trade Earl Clark, Matt barnes, 2012 2nd round pick.

This trade help the Bulls with their bench and give them more depth at the small forward postion and for the lakers it let them get younger at the small forward spot.

you are trading way too much for what you are getting. Granger is a franchise player, but not on the same level as Bynum - he's more on Pau's level (imo) so you'd be lowering your potential in the long run.

How realistic of a trade would be Wes Johnson and 2012 1st rounder for O.J Mayo? I am just trying to find a solid SG for the twolves and then Id be pretty set.

That seems like a fair deal to me, O.J. isn't staying in Memphis IRL and Johnson has underperformed thus far in his career, as long as the pick isn't going to be in the lottery(if it was you'd probably be overpaying) it makes it a pretty even deal.

It is, but I have literally no clue what the difference is. Is a lottery pick basically the chance to receive 1-30 of the picks? And yeah I knew Memphis is interested in dealing OJ, I wouldnt really want him in real life but game wise he is pretty solid and has a large upside. Ill miss Wes though.
