i suggest you just get a 3pointer that seems like ur best chance at winning. if you get traded the same things will happen non stop its not the thunder its how 2k makes them play. the same things happen to me nobody on my team can shoot wide open threes to save their lives yet the cpu drains 3s and is unstoppable in the paint

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Well i would of rage quit aye but sed screw it cos i had 18 assists most i've ever gotten so i just kept playing. I slammed my controller onto my bed on many of those turnovers haha.
2 Games later another 8 turnovers to add to me stats.
Seasone averaging:
Pts: 22.6
Rebounds: 4.3
Assists: 6.7
Blocks: 0.8
Steals: 3.2 (Quite easy to intercept passes)
TOs: 4 (gahh gotta bring this down.)
So far working on Vertical, Consistency, Stamina and Shoot in Traffic.
Plan to increase Speed via Dribble course, Ball security and Shot MedComment

Name: Richard Knight
Position: Athletic SF
College: South Africa(Just chose it)
1st round pick 8 Detroit Pistons
I played well in my Rookie Showcase 30 Points 11 Rebounds and 6 assists with 1 block A+ Team play
i was interviewed by the Pistons, Wizards and Bobcats, the Wizards said they would pick me and when its 6 they Pick Vesley so i have a huge grudge agaisnt them Detroit's team isn't that strong, but I'll the franchise cornerstone and Greg Monroe is a good young big man so hopefully we do well to begin the year, but it's the Pistons so I doubt thatComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Rickey Thompson just finished his first NBA game a little while ago. We blow out the Magic by at least 20. Rickey had an ok opening day. He finished with 23pts, 3reb, 1assist, 3to's. He shot very well form the field including a buzzer beater 3 at the end of the game. Rickey went 9/15 form the filed, also he went 4/5 from downtown. Rickey had 4 of our team's 5 made 3's. Hope to finish my Athletic SF's showcase soon and play another game with Thompson.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
After reading all these GREAT horrors stories you cannot decide? LOL
IMHO, any type player you create you will enjoy the ride to a title. However, I have found that you must land on a team your play style fits into. Despite being a rabid Sixers fan I enjoy playing for the Knicks as a PG, bc, I am basically a pass first guard with shooting capabilities and its pretty easy to play this way with offensive threats of Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire.
However, playing as a Center for the Suns, I hated the fact that Steve Nash spent all his time throwing alley oops to Grant Hill and Shannon Brown while I fought my way from low post to low post. I have a new Center now for the Bucks (10th) and I love it. I am still the last option on offense, but they do TRY to get me the ball in the paint. Mind you the Suns can score, but the Bucks are a defensive minded team.
Play a normal game w a few teams before Creating/Showcase and listen to the commentary to get an idea of what the teams REALLY need!!!
If you are reasonably good at the game you will fall somewhere between 13th - 18th in the Draft so look at those teams (ie, Pacers, Rockets, Sixers, Knicks, Wizards) to see if you like a particular team. If you tank the Showcase you will go to the Bobcats, Timberwolves, Trailblazers (I did this on purpose, did not take 1 shot, just as an experiment)
The "hard" part of this game is to get thru the Rookie season trying to complete your Objectives w/o RAGE quitting or breaking your controller in frustration, so here are a few things to think about based on my experiences...
PG- Ball Manager
Good: Ball in your hands, scoring opps off picks, easy fastbreak scores, no bumping, relatively easy to earn A grades
Bad: You must manage your turnovers (pass, ball security, off-hand dribble) and control the offense (clock management) to WIN. Your defensive assignment is usually an B+ grade OFF threat, you must play defense (can be frustrating keeping ur man out of the paint). Very expensive to earn dunking and 3pt shot. Hard to consistently earn DBL-DBLs and Triple doubles (FORGET IT)
SG - Scorer
Good: High level scoring option (you get the ball often), scoring opps off picks and kick outs, easy fastbreak scores
Bad: You must score for your team to WIN. ALOT of bumping to keep you from getting the ball. Very expensive to earn Speed & Quickness and Dunking. Difficult to earn A grades BC, your Defensive assignment is usually A grade OFF threat, ALL CAN SCORE, and you are usually looking to score first as you consistently get the ball. Out scoring your matchup every game can be a grind and you have the added pressure of not turning the ball over!
Center - Guard the Paint
Good: Swatting shots and slamming put-backs is fun. Easy to get A grade, and plenty of opps to get DBL-DBL and Triple Double later in your career. Once you get your attributes up its pretty easy to get rebounds and shoot from the low post.
Bad: Everyone gets into your way BC you are so big LOL. Your rebound and low post D rating are so low that smaller players grab rebounds from under you and your assignment and OTHERS score in YOUR FACE often. Easy to get frustrated bc you spend alot of time setting picks (why its so easy to get a high grade) and fighting through picks (bumping) to get to your low/high post spot for a shot.
Forwards - I have never tried, so making an educated guess they would be a mix of Shooting Guard and Center. Shooting from the outside and the low post should be interesting and the opportunity to get rebounds or pass to low post and kick outs ensures the DBL-DBL.
Small FWD: Wing man
Power FWD: Low Post / High Post
(Hopefully someone who enjoys playing a Forward will kick in w a few comments)
TYPES:
Athletic - you have good physical skills to start, good speed/quickness and can dunk, but your scoring rating is real low
All-Around - average EVERYWHERE, can be confusing to manage adding skill points
Scorer - can score from everywhere on the court to start, however, slow as a turtle and poor defensive skills!Comment

As far as fouls, better position surely helps but, I still get a few on "Star" rated players from reaching in too close and trying to block their shot on fastbreak drives. It also appears that in my 2nd season they call more fouls though.
Nevertheless its worth upgrading, IMHO.
On Ball Defense: 85
Note: At the same time I upgraded my OFF Awareness 85 to 90; and I am getting more open shots again.Comment

Not sure why I cant link my youtube account to 2k account. Just using my mobile to record this instead so sorry for low quality. Really like FT line dunk and 360 between the leg dunk.
I have a few videos saved in the HP Zone and can't seem to "Share" them.
However, the between the legs dunk was awesome!Comment

Yes, although my console account "works" I can't logged into the 2K site which tells me I need to change my password on the console to access the internet site... WTF!!! To date I have not received an email yet stating that I can now change my password despite trying this 3 times!

Do you have to wear Jordan Brand stuff after getting that Welcome Letter from Jordan? I don't feel right wearing Nike shoes when it says "signs endorsement deal with Brand Jordon." There are just more shoe options in Nike than Jordan.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
decided to make a new PF.
Name:Cedric Cruz
Height:6'10"
Weight:252
Number:20
College:Texas
Drafted:Bobcats(pick 9)
in the draft combine i put up 20 points, 7 rebounds. the Bobcats, Suns, and Golden state interviewed me. i told golden state to screw off since i didnt wanna play second fiddle to Lee, and told the Suns i wasnt interested. i told the bobcats i wanted to be a part of their rebuilding.
in my first game of my career i played 16 minutes against the magic. i put up 8 points, 6 rebounds.
then i accidentally hit play next key game instead of next game, and skipped like a month and a half since our only rival is New Orleans. then since our team had such a bad record, i decided to only play key games my rookie year, which is only the NO games, so i only played 2 games my rookie year.
so i only averaged 7 points, 4 rebounds my rookie season. now year 2 im going to play until im a starter, then only play key games after that, so i will only have like 15 games played this year.
this "key game only" strategy that im going to play with him will accomplish 2 things. first it will let me get in multiple years of my player.
second it will allow me to progress over a couple years, not become a superstar by mid season in my 1st year. unlike my PG and any other player i have had who is a superstar, score at will, triple double machine by the all-star break rookie season.
basically im doing this because i want to play an entire career out, like play until im in my mid 30's and then retire. i know that since im simming a lot i probably wont be a superstar legend, but it will be fun i think, for me atleast, to play out a guys whole career, and not just 2 and 1/2 seasons of it like i did on 2k11Last edited by Champion8877; 02-05-2012, 03:25 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I got dominated by Dwight Howard. They really should tone him down a bit. It wasn't really realistic, the things he was doing. He was making all type of post up moves, floaters, tear drops and mid range jump shots.Comment

this way im going to play with him will accomplish 2 things. first it will let me get in multiple years of my player.
second it will feel like im actually building a player over time and progressing over the years, putting up less than average numbers year 1, average numbers year 2, good numbers year 3, and eventually star numbers year 4 or so. unlike my PG and any other player i have had who is a superstar, score at will, triple double machine by the all-star break rookie season.
It allows me to progress over the years and get alot of time in MP. I am in my 5th year with my SG and Im not yet at 90 or been in the all-star yet. I dont mind it at all. If I were to play all the games, I wouldve been to 90 OVr by the end of 2nd- early 3rd season. It shows a realistic span of progression where I am working on key aspects of game and adding new ones in.
My SG began his career as a spot-up shooter only. Then became a better defender in 2nd-3rd year. Now is exanding his game by working more inside the paint in 3-5th year. t ls like I am adding new aspects to his game over the years instead of in a short span.
He should be able to finally be a All-star this year. MVP wont probably be until 2-3 years when I work on offense more.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I hate seeing Kemba and DJ always passing up open shots and drive and take contested shots. I really dont like them taking Close Jumpers.
Unless you play with Run Plays, the wing teammates who are athletic, but are good post players. But, they rather set up and drive than post up.Comment
