Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
After reading all these GREAT horrors stories you cannot decide? LOL
SG - Scorer
Good: High level scoring option (you get the ball often), scoring opps off picks and kick outs, easy fastbreak scores
Bad: You must score for your team to WIN. ALOT of bumping to keep you from getting the ball. Very expensive to earn Speed & Quickness and Dunking. Difficult to earn A grades BC, your Defensive assignment is usually A grade OFF threat, ALL CAN SCORE, and you are usually looking to score first as you consistently get the ball. Out scoring your matchup every game can be a grind and you have the added pressure of not turning the ball over!Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
After getting my 500th steal in a key game, I got Shot Inside and CLose to 80. It got my Overall to 89. My Offense grade is 88 and defense to 95. I will continue to boost both to 85. Then FT, then Vertical and Steal to 93.
I might continue with PF.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
dont know whether it is because I didnt work on League Pop. or because something but to not be on the list early in the year. My stats are better than some of the guys on there. I have a lot of key games in December and ith my Offense grade is higher, I should be able score more.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Any tips on doing the contact/foul dunks?
I have 85 dunk and every time I get space and try to dunk in traffic, I do a layup.
I think that is my problem. I am trying to get near the basket alot now instead of what I use to do. I should try to mix it up.
I would run Run Plays. But, I rarely get any plays and I am the Highest OVR on team.Last edited by illwill10; 02-05-2012, 07:44 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Showcase/Draft
DO NOT TURN PLAYS ON DURING THE SHOWCASE!!!!
You do not want to deal with the bumping (stopping you from getting the ball) while you are trying to show your stuff during this particular game!!!!
Stay close to the PG to get the ball and always be available for the kick out to score in the mid-range area!!!
-Over 20 points/DBL-DBL gets you into the big dance with Pistons (6th - 9th), I think I have only seen a select few My Players go 6th Overall.
-For us average folks it kind of falls like this:
Scoring in double digits (18pts) with a few assists, steals and a couple of rebounds will drop you around the Bucks (10th), a little less the Suns (13th), 8-12 pts will get you to the Sixers, Knicks and Wizards.
That being said here are my humble thoughts on Draft day for a SG;
Pistons (9th): Ronald Stuckey, no way he is a beast (some said he is a poor man's Dwayne Wade)
*Bucks (10th): Steven Jackson is likely to get traded, not so bad but the team chemistry is going to be a problem until that happens. Defensive minded team that needs a consistent scorer.
Somewhere in here the Hornets, Jazz and or Nuggets have a pick. I think fellow SG rookie Alec Burks is destined for the Jazz, Nuggets would be a nice place to land. The Hornets have Eric Gordon so you don't want to go there he is one of your Key Games.
The first name is the starting SG your are about to replace...
Suns (13th): Shannon Brown is going to test free agency, however, Steve Nash (PG) may just retire on you and leave you with grand pop (Grant Hill) and nobody else as they re-build (difficult)
***Pacers (14th or 15th): Dahantay Jones, please he avgs like 6 pts a game, plus Playing w/ PG Collison and SF Danny Granger along with Roy Hibbert in the post is a great assignment.
Rockets (14th or 15th): Kevin Martin a rising star on a team of average players. I wouldn't take this assignment. I would expect alot of confusion and bickering going on here as a SG.
*Sixers (16th): Evan Turner (gets disgruntled quickly) nice assignment BC they need a scorer, to go along with Jrue Holliday (PG), but, the Draft glitch of them always drafting 1st could give you a guilt trip LOL.
This was my 1st experience in My Player mode. All the guards were disgruntled while I played for them bc I was 6-5 and could play PG. This was a mess and we lost by ALL means possible!!! On top of that, they drafted a SG rated at (82) to begin my second year (was unaware of the draft glitch then, so I just assumed my rating of a 77 was a complete failure and I just stopped playing him(deleted-LOL).
Knicks (17th): Replacing Landry Fields (Def & 3pt) sounds tempting but, always being the 3rd offensive option (Carmelo Anthony & amare Stoudemire) maybe not what you are looking for. On top of that PG Baron Davis is a Battleship. He is a poor passer who looks to launch rockets from the 3 pt line when he doesn't dish to Melo & Stoud.
**Wizards (18th): Jordan Crawford, Who?, re-building team, playing with PG John Wall and a cast of young emerging stars maybe quite interesting if you are looking to be a scoring machine. However, it maybe a while before you really have a complete team.
Bobcats (19): Gerald Henderson, nothing to write home about, and that includes the rest of this team, if my memory serves me correctly no player is rated over a 78!!! Total re-construction here and the home floor colors are not appealing to the eye!
***Timberwolves (20): Wesley Johnson (ZZZzzzzz), on top of that it could be interesting playing with back court mates (PGs) Ridnour and Rubio. Beasley and Love make for a strong Front line making this a real tempter.
***Trailblazers (21): Jamal Crawford, 12 yrs in the league, PG Raymond Felton and great big men with LaMarcus Aldridge and Gerald Wallace. They also need a Scorer, so its a great fit. I tanked the Showcase on purpose to get on this team as a SG (didn't take a shot). I don't play him at the moment BC I want to play him LAST on a higher difficulty once I learn the advance post moves from playing w/my Center.
*Good but there is going to be some real problems
**Good but its going to be a challenge
***Where do I sign, Sir?
Remember you can only go to one of the 3 teams that interview you, so be cautious of how you answer the questions. There is always a diplomatic "Out" Answer you can give w/o screwing up. 3 Duds, hit the quit button and do the showcase over, LOL!
Disgruntled and bickering players severely effect Team Chemistry!!!!Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Here the attributes caps (the max u can upgrade ur attribute without buying more cap boost):
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&p...ZWYwNDQz&hl=en
For SG, 3pt has the lowest caps and atletic has the highest one. (i wish I have the one with our attributes at the beginning but i guess we just be able to know it just trying to create new MP.)
As I mentioned earlier, I heard that scoring is the good choice to go since at the beginning, u didn't lack too much speed, other attributes and also can hit the jumpshot. Ur abilities, which are really expensive to upgrade also mostly start with "Average." (besides post moves) For 3pt, only ability "crossover" start with average, other than that, they are all poor.
For Athletic and Slasher, u may be able to dunk and run fast at the beginning but ur jumpshot is terrible.
U can buy more cap up to +5. If u have 95 dunk as ur cap. u need 500K to buy the first one to make ur cap 96. 1m to buy the second one to up it to 97. Therefore, if u need to boost from 95 to 99, it will cost u 500k+1m+1.5m+2+2.5m=7.5m.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Got selected to the All-Star Game, and luckily the minutes glitch didn't occur. Three Knicks; (Me, Carmelo, Stoudemire) all made the All-Star Game. Stoudemire gets selected as the starting PF [23.7 PPG/10.7 RPG]. Carmelo is the first-reserve SF role [23.1 PPG/8.1 RPG/5.4 APG] and I was the first-reserve PG role [22.1 PPG/9.7 APG/1.4 BPG]. The All-Star Game was loose and fun, and it felt good not being the play-maker for once, as I went for 19 points/3 rebounds/3 assists in 13 minutes.
*Me and Stoudemire are currently both Top 5 in MVP Award Race.
===
After playing our one legitimate rival, the Heat a game before the All-Star Game, we dismantled them in a 10-point win, and LeBron, coming off a Kobe-esque streak of 3-straight 40 pt. games (58-40-58) went for only 12 pts. We've been getting tons of production from everyone, as we have 7 players in 10+ and 12 with 2+. We're moving closer and closer to the Heat for the top record in the East; we're currently 1.5 GB now, with 22 games left in the season.
QUESTION: What defensive stats do you need to get onto the All-Defensive team? My rookie PG (6'5") is currently averaging 1.4 BPG and 1.0 SPG. What else plays into this selection?Canucks | Packers | Blue Jays | Lakers | Raptors

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
^
I average around 4 SPG and 1BPG and my SG won defensive player of the year every year. On my RC year, I averaged just around 2.7 rpg (due to low rebs rating) but with 4spg and 1bpg, I still won the award so I guess the reb is not much important for backcourt player to get the award. (After my RC year, I average from 5.7-7.7 rpg)
Cant remember how high my steal rating was from the start to the end of my RC season (I think 80+) but right now my spg is at 96. I committed reach in foul a lot too but still worth average 4+spg. i anticipate the passing lane, may just make on-ball steal when guarding my matchup (May get a lot of "reach in foul" if wrong timing), try to steal from big men when they dribble near me and sometimes, steal from behind. In my opinion, your spg is quite low for PG but you block a lot.
My matchup SG usually drops a lot of point against me so that's not a factor. Just get high steal and high block for backcourt should be enough. For Frontcourt, it gonna deal with block and rebounds I guess.Last edited by nbanoname; 02-05-2012, 11:17 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
For a Scorer (speed & quickness) attributes are outrageously expensive to upgrade. However, with the Athletic set, upgrading the 3 pt is outrageously expensive! So its a trade off. Then again, if you are excellent at ball/pass fakes and dribble moves then you can probably get away with the lack of speed (assuming you do not plan on driving to the basket) to consistently get open shots.
If my memory serves me correctly there is a 20 point difference in speed & quickness between Scoring and Athletic. And of course the Scoring skill set can't dunk. However, if you plan on being a hop and pop scoring machine that drops 30 a night from long range then this is the easiest way to get there is the Scoring skill set.
YES, ATHLETIC SKILL SET, SHOOTS BRICKS TO BEGIN!!!
My mistake with choosing Scoring was he was too short, 6-5, he couldn't shoot over DBL teams and I waited too long to upgrade his Quickness and Off Awareness which would of solved the problem of consistently getting open looks at the hoop after the All Star game Break. Also 27/40 shooting style I use is technically pure but a "slow" release of the ball.
That being said, forum mate, bkrich83, has a great quick release on his My Player. He has a video posted on page 238 of his player bombing from 3 pt land. http://www.operationsports.com/forum...hread-238.html
However, the one that really turns me off is the All-Around, he can't anything of value to start, LOLComment
