Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Not sure why but it happens to me and some people I met in several forums. I think there is something to activate the glitch (Maybe sth like when u enter player edit page and change a few things on ur MP or if u delete the shoe once) but I really don't know what it is.Last edited by nbanoname; 01-31-2012, 02:33 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Just had two ridiculously huge games back-to-back. Went for 49 pts, 14 reb, 9 ast against the Bulls (in a loss) and 55 pts, 11 reb, 9 ast, and 3 blks against the Kings in a win. Both games I sat on 9 assists for basically the entire fourth quarter, and both times I had teammates miss semi-uncontested layups. In the 49/14/9 game (I play for the Jazz) I dished to Kanter under the goal and his shot spun halfway down and popped back out. It was really frustrating.
Before that two game stretch I was averaging about 24 ppg, 8.5 apg, 6 rpg, 1.5 spg, 0.9 bpg, and shooting about 48% from the floor.
I'm curious and have a couple of questions for the more experienced My Player gamers. I'm a PG and I'm averaging about 5 turnovers a game. I've basically been pouring about half my skill-points every 2-3 games into ball security. What else do I need to raise so I won't turn it over as much?
Also, what re the main attributes I should be concentrating on and putting most of my skill-points into as a PG? Through my first five games or so I was scoring about 20 ppg on a little over 50% shooting. In the seven or eight games since, though, I'm shooting closer to 45%. For whatever reason, despite still being able to get to the hole or at least in the lane, I'm having 5-7 chippies per rim out or bang off the glass and off the rim for a miss. That was the case in my 55 and 49 point games. I shot about 47% in both games (which isn't bad for a guard) but it would've been much better if it wasn't for my player missing 5-7 point-blank shots in each game.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I see a lot of people only playing "key games". Question: When simming the regular games, does your player still acquire skill points?
Ive been playing every game in my career, and i feel i will get burnt out by the 2nd or 3rd season.
On the other hand, if you're playing about 10 games a season...don't you feel like you really didnt have a part in your statistics?Last edited by buckeye02; 01-31-2012, 04:38 AM.PSN: buckeye02Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

U dont get skill points for the score, reb, blk, the win and etc during simming. U do get skill points from some milestones achievements. if u sim the game and get tripple double, u dont get game milestones for record tripple double but it will count toward ur career, if u get 10 tripple doubles even if some of them came from simming games, u will get skill points from career milestones. Basically, u get skill points from season and career milestones but not game milestones.
I played almost every game during my rc year. Later i play mpstly key games but i do have a lot of key games. Thete are many star match up in SG. I got like more than 30 key games a season. Some SG such as Harden, Mayo or Evans will be star rate at least 85 later in their career so it means more key games.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
My old lady said clean up the mess, here is the last of the playoff notes for my PG/ATH/KNICKS:
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS
Game One @ ATL
Teammate Grade: B+
Stoudemire 27, 16 rebounds, Anthony 22 pts
Despite controlling the boards throughout we got down by 12 pts early and could never catch up.
My matchup Kemba Walker had just 11 pts, but managed 7 assists w/ the AI matchup turbo boost, Joe Johnson had 27 points to lead the Hawks.
14 pts, 32%, 4 assists, 2 steals, shot inconsistent throughout and trying to close the margin late just made it frustratingly worst. The 5 turn overs didn't help either!
Yes, I feel like we got "jobbed" in this one and more than likely the AI will make sure this is a long and frustrating series. And, Yes, I gave the nasty "feelings" answer to the press!!!
We lose 72-87, down 0-1
Game Two @ ATL
Teammate Grade: A
Joe Johnson 27, J. Smith 17, held Kemba Walker to just 6 points
Anthony 20, Stoudemire 15,
My Player; 21 PTS, 9 assists, 6 steals and 1 block; 42 % from field; Total frustration as I can't make a three to close the deficit AGAIN, 1-6 from 3 pt range (missed all in the 2nd half)! Just 3 turn overs in this one but still not happy with overall performance. My concerns (nightmare) full realized at this point.
3 - pt upgraded to 75; costs 1860 at this point
We lose 87-102, down 0-2
* Reached 80 Overall Rating
Game Three VS. ATL
Teammate Grade: A ; JPoG
Joe Johnson 28, J. Smith 16, Kemba Walker got a cheap 10 points
Anthony 34, Stoudemire 17, My Player; 25 PTS, 6 assists, 4 steals, 57 % from field; NO TURNOVERS. Put together 4 consistent quarters of play, shocked with the fact that I commited no turnovers. 3 pt (1-4) not much of a factor in this one, we led from start to finish.
We Win 99-82, down 1-2
Game Four VS. ATL
Teammate Grade: A ; JPoG
Joe Johnson 23, J. Smith 10, Kemba Walker 14 points, hit a few ridiculous 3's in the AI's rally push to make the score respectable down the stretch.
Anthony 31, 11 rebounds, Stoudemire 16, 7 rebounds, My Player; 27 PTS, 8 assists, 6 steals, 57 % from field; FOUR TURNOVERS (2 from rage over hipchecks on layups), 3 fouls. Dunking machine off steals, FG % was close to 80 at one point until the hipchecking started and me losing my temper!
Cooled down in the 4th quarter to close out the game. The AI still will not let me hit the WIDE OPEN dagger 3 pointer (17%) much to my dismay.
We Win 94-76, Tied, 2-2
Oops; I answered we are going to win the next 2 teammates wishy-washy!!!!
Game Five @ ATL
Teammate Grade: A+
Joe Johnson 18, J. Smith 16, Kemba Walker 15 points, 7 TURNOVERS, the AI speed boost (ice skating) really aided walker to get into the lane, but, I maintained my cool to make the rest of his day miserable with the ball.
That being said, the AI made my day miserable from the field, 16 pts, shooting 7-17, but, again kept my cool and dished out a career high of 11 assists with only 2 turnovers. A rebound, 2 steals and 2 blocks made for a well rounded game despite my shooting. After shooting off my mouth after the last one; I guess this one was about keeping my cool thru 4 quarters?
Anthony picked up my slack scoring 38 pts, 10 rebounds and Stoudemire added 12 with 9 rebounds
We Win 100-85, Up, 3-2 (was careful to answer pc question correctly!!!)
Game Six VS ATL
Teammate Grade: A+ ; JPoG
Joe Johnson 12, Kemba Walker 4 points, 4 TURNOVERS, all around defense from the entire squad shut down the Hawks
Anthony 17, 4 rebounds, Stoudemire 13 pts, 13 rebounds,
My Players, 45 pts, 3 assists, 4 steals and ZERO turnovers. Shot 64% from field, started hot and ended hot (2-2 from 3-pt arc). In a nutshell, could not have played better!!! Nice points boost with 40 pt milestone.
We Win 92-63, Up, We win the series 4-2
Looks like we get the defending champion Mavericks in the Finals.
NBA FINALS
Game One @ DAL
Teammate Grade: B+
Nowitzki 20 pts, Carter 15, Terry 15, Beaubois with 9 made the difference in the game getting some crucial easy buckets under the basket over Landry Fields ( B.S- Fields is 6-7" def specialist, and Beaubois is 6-2"). Then again Nowitzki only had 4 pts in the 2nd half, he is capable of dropping 29.
Anthony 24, 12 reb, Stoudemire 16, 12 reb, My Player, 21 pts, 44 %, 3-pt - 33%, 1 Assist, 3 Steals and 3 turn overs. Performance was just not good enough to over come Mavericks 3 - pt barage. Extremely tight D played by the Mavs made shooting for us difficult. 1-5 to begin the game and 1-7 to start the 2nd half.
We lose 81-86; Down 0-1
Game Two @ DAL
Teammate Grade: A; JPoG
Nowitzki 19 pts, Carter 21 pts, Terry 8, Beaubois, 6, after the USS Mavericks Battleship bombarded us with 3 pt rockets in Game One My Player took a different approach guarding Jason Kidd.
Instead of harassing him up top and getting burned on steal attempts I cut off the passing lanes back to him the entire game. After his 1st entry pass I was his shadow, no more 2nd passes for open 3's! As you are probably aware, it's WAY MORE EASY to steal passes back to Kidd then to try and take the ball from him (2 - TOs) (Team - 11 TOs)!
Also in the 1st half we deployed a 3-2 Zone when we shot free throws, especially when Jason Terry and Beaubois entered the game. In the second half when Kidd cooled off from the 3 pt arc, (6 pts - 20 % FG), we deployed a 1-3-1 Zone allowing My Player to harass Kidd making it difficult for him to penetrate the zone for easy dishes down low.
Anthony 23 pts, 13 reb, Stoudemire 22 pts, 11 reb, Landry Fields, 13 pts, My Player, 25 pts, 60 %, 3-pt - 33%, 2 Assists, 5 Steals and 5 turn overs. We truly had a well balanced attack on offense in this one (pounded them in the paint).
However, I am infuriated with myself for commiting so many BRAIN CRAMP turn overs (hitting the wrong button while passing and not waiting for my teammate to set his feet in the Post), however, when we needed a bucket My Player was able to drop the big shot or make a steal to turn the tide into our favor.
We Win 98-83; Tied 1-1
Game Three VS. DAL
Teammate Grade: B+
Nowitzki 15 pts, Carter 11 pts, Terry 15, Beaubois, 7, the AI adapted to my strategy in Game Two (loose D) and Kidd lit me up from the field w/ 18 pts (12 in 1st half on 3's). I did get him to turn the ball over though as he desperately tried to keep his team in the game (4 TOs).
Anthony 24 pts, 11 reb, Stoudemire 13 pts, 10 reb, My Player, 27 pts, 38 %, 3-pt - 50%, 4 Assists, 2 Steals and 4 turn overs.
Cold as Antartica in the 1st half (22% FG), but, didn't take bad shots so the important ones went down. Most of the points came at the free throw line. After going 1-4 early, switched up and pounded the ball in the lane causing them to foul Anthony and Stoudemire. The early foul trouble kept Nowitzki, Odom and Carter on the bench for a good portion of the 1/2. We were in the bonus in the 1st quarter.
However, still not happy with the turnovers but it appears from the game commentary that it's not too bad. Maybe bc its high pressure play of the Finals?
Don't know how I am going to approach guarding Kidd in the next one, he was so hot I didn't get a chance to deploy zones so maybe I will alternate pressure at the top in the next one (wing it & FIFO).
We Win 87-80; Up 2-1 in NYC
Game Four VS. DAL
Teammate Grade: A+
Nowitzki 14 pts, Carter 14 pts, Terry 12, Marion, 11, Beaubois just 3 pts. Kidd dropped 13pts, as I applied a new strategy, picking him up at half court forcing him to pass early (Knicks logo) which moved the D up and made for long 3 pointers for Mavs. They would only hit 5/21 from the ARC and I forced Kidd into 5 TOs with the long passing lanes.
Anthony 24 pts, 11 reb, Stoudemire 13 pts, 10 reb,
My Player, 18 pts, 5 Assists, 4 Steals, 2 Blocks, rebound and 4 turn overs.
One of my goals was to Draw 6 fouls, so I began driving the lane, i got to 4 fouls in 1st Qtr, then the roof caved in. I shot so bad after that I literaly took my sock off and threw it at the tv screen in frustration! (1st Qtr did not make ANY shots from the field) (6-24, 25%). You would think with a Consistency rating of (95) this would be almost impossible! I kept my composure on D though as Nowitzki suffered my same fate, which I think made all the difference in this one giving me a much un-deserved "GREAT" performance in my mind.
Need just one more win to get my BLING!!!
We Win 91-81; Up 3-1 in NYC
Game Five VS. DAL
Teammate Grade: A ; JPoG
Nowitzki 21 pts, Carter 19 pts, Odom 12, Marion, 11, and Kidd dropped 10pts, and no turn overs. They took us to the limit after an early 20 pt margin in the 1st half. WHEW!
Anthony 31 pts, 19 reb, Stoudemire 9 pts, 8 reb, Landry Fields dropped 8 big ones; My Player, 38 pts, 3 Assists, 2 Steals, and 3 turn overs. As you may have guessed my shot came back (62 %, 40% 3pt range) and I needed every bit of it.
Was blown away by the MVP chant w/ 1:24 left while on the foul line, saying to myself you better drop these (4-4)!!!! The teammate hoist was nice and the presentation by David Stern made it official - after the most terrible start, a little diligence, patience and Team Chemistry gave the Knicks the 2012 NBA Championship. Scoreboard, Baby!!!
Carmelo Anthony wins Series MVP
2k Magazine, How YA Like Me Now? ,,,, Haters Beware: Threio already thinking repeat LOL
We Win 94-85; Up 4-1 in NYC
Playoffs Avg. 25.2 pts, 3.2 Steals, FG: 47%Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I see a lot of people only playing "key games". Question: When simming the regular games, does your player still acquire skill points?
Ive been playing every game in my career, and i feel i will get burnt out by the 2nd or 3rd season.
On the other hand, if you're playing about 10 games a season...don't you feel like you really didnt have a part in your statistics?
However, I can see the burn out coming around year 3-5, however, by then my player skill attributes will be well under control. And at that point I can pick and choose which parts of the season I want to play key games ONLY.
I also create other position MY Players to stop the boredom, so I can stay focused with my primary player (PG/Knicks), a few games w my Center (Suns) is a good change of pace and I get to work on my Post Moves.Comment

Only a few positions and being in a certain team/division, leads to 12 or less games. We only have NO as a Rival and besides MIA, I will only face star SGs like Kobe and Ellis and other SGs.
Stat-wise I actually have better games than my sim stats because my offensive grade isnt high. So at most I might score 30 while simming. I average 2 steals in simulated games and I can avg 3-5 steals in game. I guess I avg 20-25 pts, 3-5 assists, and 3-5 rebounds while playing. those are decreased while simming. Once I raise certain ratings, like Pass, FT,Steal, my stats would be better. But my team is good, so I dont expect to avg 25.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
A few game into my 6th season (my 3rd with T-Wolves), i found that Anthony Randolph gonna test FA after this season. That's bad. With 89 rating, he is no 2 PF behind Blake.
So this year i lost rubio, next year im gonna lose Randolph and Beseley, my 6th man too. My bench is already terrible with full of generated low-rating PG. Next year, im gonna be left with 33 years old Lebron and Love with Willie Warren (currently rate 75. Not sure why he was rated that high for the Dleague player who, in real life barely play NBA in 2010-2011 and i think he is no longer in NBA now) as my PG.
I hope at least the cap from Randolph and Beseley gonna help my team sign some good players, especially PG and PF/C next year. Rose rate 93, S. Curry rate 89 and B. Lopez rate 85 are on their contract year as well as generated PG rate 87 and JJ Hickson rate 81. Not sure whether it is possible that my team can land some of them.
Not sure why but since the patch came out to fix crazy trades while im in rc season, after that my team never make a trade again for 4 years. Not even a single one. There are romors but still no trade made.
Btw, as a SG, now i got star match up key game agaiar Westbrook, who moved to play SG with Hornets and Durant who moved to play SG with Suns. Harden plays pg at OKC now while Landy Field rate 85, with 97 3pts rating, being a SG for OKC.
Have 2 years contract left with Wolves, after that i hope to head back to Bulls, my fav team. Bulls also always have some young talents due to draft glitch even if they r not super like 76ers.Last edited by nbanoname; 01-31-2012, 01:09 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
This new My Player logic system is ridiculous to me. As far as the GM logic in 2k11, it made sense. It was on point with asking for suggestions and give you an opportunity to have some influence on your teams transactions. You have absolutely no influence at all in 2k12 and I have no clue how the draft pick system works, it seems to just be random. I played one season drafted by the wizards traded to the hawks for Horford and a pick. I was so excited that the Wiz finished with the 2nd worst record in the league. great draft pick right. somehow the Bulls got the 1 pick after winning 57 games and making no trades. i got the 12th pick. My player was my favorite mode yet its unplayable to me now. This game upsets me so much bc it made so many improvements with the game play, yet it has so many incomplete parts that were perfectly fine last year.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
And again we get bs in game 3 as the heat all of a sudden can't miss and though I was shooting 8 of 12 I couldn't hit the ocean from the beach, we go down 16, then I bring us back to down 7, then get 2 assists on 3's from J Rich and we are down 1 early in 4th, then the dumb bleeping coach takes J Rich out and moves me from bleeping PG to bleeping SF, Like wtf and puts Nelson and Duhon in so now I don't have any shooters and they can't guard a rock let alone Wade and Chalmers.. That was bs, we should be up 3-0, not 2-1.. If i could've thrown the ball at the coach I would have.. Or how I drive get drilled and no call but every time wade or someone would drive i would barely touch them and its a bleeping foul.. Complete BSFavorite Teams:
NCAAB- Duke Blue Devils (Defending National Champs!)
NASCAR- Kevin Harvick (Defending Sprint Cup Champ!)
NBA- Los Angeles Clippers
MLB- Miami Marlins
NFL- New York Jets
NCAAF- Duke Blue Devils
NHL- Carolina HurricanesComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
This is still the end of my first season, we made the playoffs in the 8th seed against the Mavs in the 1st seed. We ended up sweeping them 4-0
Next round is against the OKC Thunder, game starts out crappy as hell and Durant is catching alley oops everywhere. They start out the blocks quick and take a 13-2 lead right away.
I try my best to lock it down on my end and play some serious D against Durant (I'm a SF as well). We end up blowing them out on their home court by 19!
We're up 1-0 on the Thunder, can't wait for game 2.
I'm really starting to understand the mechanics of this game well, I can now move around freely without getting bumped by anyone. There is a delayed lag when you use the sprint at certain times, also a delay for when you call for the ball.
I started to get the anticipation timing down and I'm running the wing getting the ball on the fly and hitting the open lanes for open dunks at will. It is starting to get easy it seems. 5 straight wins in the playoffs is nice.
If we sweep all the way through to the Finals and still have an easy time I may turn up the difficulty for next season.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I got frustrated losing so many games going down the home stretch of the season so I decided to turn off plays.
On offense I simply let Felton bring the ball down court and right away set a pick for him up top near the 3 point line. I do that a few times if needed till I can actually get a clean open look on the roll towards the hoop.
I was getting a lot of and ones. I had nearly gotten 3 different guys on me to foul out.
On defense I simply keep the LT held down almost all the time and keep my guy in front of me and if he runs through screens to go somewhere else on the court I RT and run with him. When I'm facing my guy and he tries to get by me I sidestep holding both LT & RT so I can stay in front on him and don't let him get by me no matter what.
I just checked my profile on 2K and I was a bit off, we didn't blow them out by 19, it was only 15 points hehe.Attached FilesComment

The draft goes alphabetically by teams nicknames every year, so the 76ers get always the #1 and the Wizards the last pick unless they trade them.Comment
