Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

I just missed out on my 1st triple double against the Heats in a 30pt loss. I had 26pts, 10 rebs, and 9 assists, 2 steals. I only had 3 TOs a couple of them late. Dwight missed a few shots late that could of gave me the triple double and 1st 10 assist game.
I got Shot Med to 83. I would do the shooting drill to help bring it up since it is getting expensive(900+ to boost). But, I am still doing Dribble Course. I got Speed to 87, Ball Security to 86.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Game 7 of my PG's second season with the Knicks. With Collison, Chandler, and Fields gone, we can't cheat on offense or on defense, because we could kick it out to Darren and Landry if we couldn't score [me, Carmelo, Amar'e] and if someone got by us on D, we knew Chandler would be there. Unfortunately, we're learning the hard way, and a loss vs. the Timberwolves moves us below .500 for the first time in over a year.

This season, we've already had 3 OT games in 7 games. We've blown 4Q leads, and my PG needs to be more assertive. I've been playing like a mini Magic this season, averaging 20.2/5.7/13.2. I had my first triple-double of the season (19/10/11) but we lost so that's rendered useless [3 career regular season Triple Doubles.]

This year, Aaron Brooks seems to be the new mini-Westbrook. Nash was traded last season, and this season he's been big for the Suns, averaging 28/4/4.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Just wow. My first game after the All-Star break (didn't get the minutes bug) was against the T-wolves. It was a fairly close game throughout. I was doing pretty well with my SF Jones (34 points, 7 reb, 2 blocks, 2 steals), but was kept out of the lane all game, hence no assists. Under a minute left and we're down by one. I get the ball, try to drive, but have three defenders waiting for me. I notice they left Shannon Brown open and it's a quick dish for three. T-wolves get the ball and Love scores two. TO Suns. I call for the inbound pass. I walk toward the key and notice that Rubio is guarding me. Well that's not gonna work out too well for them. I throw a crossover to the left, breaking his ankles and meet the center at the hoop for my first dunk of the game AND ONE! As I walk to the line for the game-clinching free throw, the home crowd starts chanting "MVP!" Incredible.

I upped my strength quite a bit after that and noticed some improvements on getting dunks as opposed to layups. I soon only played key games and began holding onto my SP so that I can make big improvements in the offseason and start my sophomore year with a bang.

My team, the Suns, were able to overcome a horrific start to the season and started the playoffs ranked 4th in the West. First game at home was a narrow victory against Kobe and the Lakers with Nash hitting two clutch FT's at the end to nail it.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

              Need some advice.

I'm up to a 74 rating 15 games into my second season with the pacers. I'm a scoring SF, and am 6th in the league in scoring. Developing into an all star player pretty fast.

The Pacers are 10-5, playing well with George, Granger, West, Collison, and Arenas all contributing. Granger has been downgraded to a 73 but he's still good. Hibbert unfortunately out for the season, so we are pretty small. Hanesborough and K Mart make decent back up bigs. Teammate chemistry is high, fan support on the rise.

Just not sure we are championship caliber. If Hibbert were in, yeah, we'd be competitive. But looking to next year with Granger and Arenas on the decline I'm not sure.

I checked My Trades and the Bulls are interested in me. The Pacers have a shot long term, but the opportunity to pair with D Rose and company is tough to pass up.

Would you suggest I ask for the trade or stay? The Bulls won the championship last year but are slow out the gate this year at 7 and 9. All their major players still in place. If I asked for the trade what are the odds I'd get it? Would playing on that team be fun, do you think? I wonder who they would trade me for? Probably Deng or Hamilton, considering I'm still rated in the 70s?

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

I have been reading over this thread and I don't see how people score so many points, assists, and rebounds in their rookie showcase. I can't seem to drive the ball and at least get a layup. I am a 6'8 245lb SF.

The three teams that I got interviewed with were the Wizards, Knicks, and Timberwolves. I pretty much blew all them off. (Especially the knicks, they wanted me to play SG because they already have Carmello). In the end I got drafted to Knicks which makes me sort of angry because they want me to play a SG.

I don't know what I am doing wrong to have so low scoring, rebs, and assists.
I wasn't able to do all that much in the Rookie Showcase either with an athletic SF... or beyond that. I started running screens for Nash and Brown a lot and then started finding wide open shots. I, too, haven't played virtual b-ball in over a decade so I was complete garbage. By growing with my My Player, I've gotten to competent.

I'm about 26 games or so into my second season. I'm an 80 overall and have amassed about 284,000 skill points. We (Portland) beat the Heat and won the championship in my first season. This season I'm leading the league in scoring and about 9.8 boards a game as well. I'm an athletic SF, 6'10" with most of my inside game stats maxed out.

I'm going to play this season out without requesting a trade then sign with another team.

I'd suggest playing your contract out but that's just me.

When you ask for a trade you lose 20pts in Teammate Chemistry & Local Fan Support, there is another 20 hit after the trade (usually 5 games played)(-40)

Once you say how delighted you r to be in the new home most of the local fan support comes back and you get a boost in League wide pop. However, you have to re-build the teammate chemistry. Its not too hard if you play and answer the question team oriented but it does take several games!

Your potential is high and more than likely they will have to give up a Good player to get you which they are ready to do (interested), check the Rumor Mill and see who they are dangling as trade bait.

Make a backup file just in case they trade Rose for you and go for it!

Had the best game of my PG career so far. 16 points, 6 boards and 11 assists as we beat the Warriors, 8 games in now.

This was the only way that I can get into mine. Even after playing a game and re-saving a new file, it still freezes when loading from the main screen. Looks like something got corrupted.

Can you guys help me? I know this has probably been discussed but its a 300 page thread.

My team is awful. It doesn't matter who I play for, they're awful. I was with the Sixers and we were getting blown out every game. Shooting 30-35% from the floor (I shoot about 40%).

I get traded to the Bulls, and my team hits maybe 10% of their attempts around the rim. We just finished a game vs the Sixers, got blown out by 20. They shot 50%, we shot 33% going 1 for 18 from 3 point line. Yes, 1 for 18. Miraculously, all the guys who were missing shots when I was on their team, were nailing em vs my new team. Fall away jumpers, crazy and ones, everything.

Is there some kind of setting (I play on Pro) that can make my team better? I mean, I'm doing all I can, but if I dish the ball to a guy and he misses a layup 9/10 times or we go 1/18 from 3, thats nothing that I personally can do to change it.

Please help, because it's really no fun getting blown out by a team who's record is 8-22.

                            I'll also add...

We can't get a big lead on anyone. If by some miracle we are doing well, the other team will be playing out of their minds.

The game I'm playing now, we're shooting 60%. The other team for the quarter went 13/15. And my guy only scored once.

So even the games we win, even if we happen to play well, we can't win comfortably. But when we play poor, we lose by 30.

OMG this game is so frustrating!! it is soooooooo horrible!!! i have started 5-6 new MP's cause i get so frustrated everytime!

1: the team grade: how come when you do something bad it falls so incredibly much, but when you do something good it just raises a little bit? you do 3-4 good things, and get the grade up, then just one little negative thing like "allowed inside pass" or "bad block attempt" and you pretty much go down an entire grade.

2: it is soo hard to get assists, teammates never shoot! they just stand there like idiots and then when the shotclock is down to 2-3 seconds they pass the ball back to me so i have to take a horrible shot or I get the damn turnover! plus the alley oops are awful. a million times i have had a perfect alley oop, but i dont get the assist, my grade goes down because of a "bad pass" wtf!??!!? and how many times have i tried to pass to an open man but by the time i press the pass button, he has ran behind 2-3 guys and i pass the ball directly to them..

3: the animations are awful. you get stuck in some stupid animations cause your teammate won't move so you can cover an open guy, and of course he hits the shot.. then you get pushed around by everybody, once i could not move cause nate robinson was pushing me around?! what the hell?! the guy is 3" tall..

4: no matter what team you play with your teammates will suck.. it doesn't matter if its lebron james or freakin' kwame brown.. on the other hand your opponents are all freakin' michael jordans.. they make every damn shot and do incredible things on the floor.. while my teammates don't even dare take a shot.. not even when they're totally open. to win a game you have to have 40 ppg or 20 assists..

5: i miss sooooo many wide open shots, its unbelieveable..

6: the latest Mp i started is a pg, got drafted by the sixers. and it is sooooo annoying.. we run no plays.. whenever i play i play sg, only a few times has the coach let me be pg. and this is how we play: jrue holiday gets the ball, runs to in between halfcourt and 3-point line and just stands there till its 4-5 seconds left on the shotclock and takes a 50 yard shot.. what the hell 2k?!?!?! it doesnt help to set up a screen for him or call for the pass, NOTHING!! and he does this on 9/10 possesions!!! if he passes then he does so to iggy, and then he does the same thing! just stands in one place till the clock runs down and takes a forced shot!

7: i pass a normal pass to a teammate, he fumbles the ball out of bounds and i get the turnover?? woow 2k.. you really nailed this game..

and one more thing i noticed someone mention earlier: the endorsments, where is the cash from them? i mean in reality players get paid for their endorsments, where is the money for the MP?? especially when you get the shoe-deal.. players make millions from those deals, what we do it for free? jordan gets all the money?? i would assume 2k knows that players dont only get money from their nba-contracts but also from their endorsements, so why didn't they include this in the game?

you know the dynamic goals, and the one called "quadruple quarter" or something like that, where you must record 1 assist, one 1basket, 1 steal or block and 1 rebound.. the hardest thing there is the damn assist.

2k11 was seriously 1000000 times better, because you could actually play basketball... this MP-version is the worst of its kind in sportsgame history.. but i guess thats what happens when you have no competition, and you are the only producer of a basketball game in the business since ea hasn't done it for a while now. 2ksports dont give a damn what the game is like, they know nba-fans and basketball lovers will buy the game cause its the only one avaliable..

2k13 really needs to improve, especially the MP mode, cause this version sucks!

and here is the craziest thing of all: i had the game on my pc also just to try it with cheats, so installed it and startet an mp as a pg, got drafted by the bobcats, used cheat engine to raise everything to max, so was 99 overall. averaged over 30ppg and around 6 rpg and 8-9 apg. my rookie year, was second in mvp behind lebron. bobcats finished 2nd seed, we lost to the bulls in the eastern finals. got tired of the bobcats my 2nd year so still with my rookie contract i asked to be traded to the knicks, since i'm a knick fan and i wanted to play with melo, stat & chandler. but guess what? this was the trade: Knicks get MP - Bobcats get Melo & Stat.. how is that even possible? i was on my rookie contract, that was like 1,34 millions in two years, and i get traded for melo and stat? what kinda contracts did they have then?! it's impossible!!

seriously! what was 2k thinking with this game??
                              1. Team-Mate Grade: To get a good one (A-, A, A+) which I get consistently, you just need to play the game right. For this, it helps to know how to play the game, and execute different dribble and shot moves. Learn how to take good shots (Good Shot Selection) and being able to pass the ball (Assist--which seems to be an issue of yours I will address) and Rebounding (Defensive Rebound)(Offensive Rebound) will give your team-mate grade big boosts. Other things like Drawing and-1s and scoring on a dunk are all ways to quickly boost your team-mate grade. Just play the game well and right.

It may be easier for me, because my player has 90+ Inside, Close, Mid, 3PT, Layup attributes, but raising your attributes will help. Start with the shooting and offense, and than move to the Mental and Physical and Defensive.

                              2. Assists: I'd recommend turning plays on. I do this--on the My Player Home, click Back, and the menu will appear--click Settings or something like that, and turn the 'Run Plays' to 'On' and 'Full' or 'Lite'.

Once you know your team-mates strengths, and their spots, and you know the main plays well--it will be easier to get assists. Otherwise, remember to look at all 4 other players on the court while you are playing--look for open shooters, cutters, and big men inside for easy lay-ins and dunks. Playing like this, I'm a PG in Knicks in my second season, and I'm currently averaging 20 PPG/6 RPG and 13 APG. No need to cheese--just try and follow what I told you. Also look for guys in transition, and try to push the ball up in transition or on fast breaks.

                              3. Animations: I agree with you that the animations can be brutal at times, especially the defensive switches, which cause you to lose team-mate grade. Go to Settings, and turn the option for "Show Who to Guard" 'On'. That's the only way to try and minimize that. The bumping animations, I hate, just like you. Getting Offensive Awareness, Agility, Speed and Strength are the only ways to try and reduce that. Nothing we can do there to stop it, unfortunately.

                              4. I had the same problem on my first MP. Our team started 2-17, and I just created a new one, and another one...4 MPs after my first, I'm an All-Star, All-NBA, on a No. 1 seeded team in the East.

Just spend time to 'learn' the different dribble/post moves. Learning the post moves especially, can be rewarding if you know how to use your MP down low. Learning how to impact the game, other than scoring will prove useful...I'd recommend watching some NBA 2K12 MP videos (Smoove, ipodkingcarter). I started with these when I bought the game, and I'm thriving now. Just know how to play properly, well, and execute. Use Training Camp to learn. Pick up a "Signature Move".

*Run plays...the offense comes better and will make you and your team-mates all better.

                              5. Get a better shot base/form. Go to NBA 2K Rosters>NBA 2K12 sig shots on this forum. A good one to start is Gibert Arenas.

                              6. Run plays.

                              7. It sort of is on you...to throw a better, more clean pass. Just raise your Pass Attribute. This will be important when running plays, and trying to get assists.

*That's a good point you bring with the endorsements, and I've never though of that before. Good one!

For "Quadruple Single" and getting the assists, look at my points above about your issues. Number 2 or 3 is about getting assists.

Hope this helped you! I used to be in the same predicament as you, but just learning how to control the offensive/post moves, learnring how to run plays for different team-mates, finding the open man, pushing it in transition and raising the right attributes...you will eventually get very good at this game. Any questions just ask me.

We're in my PG's second year, on the Knicks. Currently averaging 20p/6r/13a pergame this season. Carmleo is averaging 24p/9r/3a per game. However, our 3rd All-Star, Amar'e, has been struggling. He's getting it done on the boards, and averaging 20/11 this season, but the last few games, he's been struggling to get it going on the offensive end. I'm still running lots of plays for him, as the PG, but our biggest strength, our Stockton-Malone like Pick and Roll, has been suffering, because, Amar'e will NEVER ROLL anymore! He gets almost 35% of his points from an easy dunk, and-1s or foul shots from those PnR. I don't know what's going on, but could someone offer something as to why this is happening? With him struggling, and Carmelo shooting a low % in the 30s, despite still putting up 20 PPG...It's been on me to become a Oscar Robertson type PG the last few games, with a triple-double last game, and 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists on 60% shooting at the half!
