      PG/SCORING/KNICKS/YEAR 2
      17-9; 3rd Eastern Conference; Power: 5

Huge win in Memphis; with Carmelo all but asleep in the first half, and me in foul trouble, Stoudemire and the bench did a nice job to hold us in until the half; 49-47 on a buzzer-beater by me; finished the half with 16 points. They went on a huge run, and I got so mad, and being with our 9-12 guys on the rotation just made me go into solo-ballhog mode, and we tie quickly on my and-1. Carmelo and STAT just took over in the 3Q/4Q and they both scored over 13 points in the second half; we barely win: 100-96.

      27 Points; 6 Assists; 3 Rebounds; 4 Steals; 3 Blocks (10-17)

      ===
Becoming more of a defensive stalwart, averaging 4 SPG the last two games; steals are fun, and I don't need to cheese or anything to get them. Improving Defensive Clutch and Steal Rating helped me a lot. Our bench again doesn't show up, and I've calculated the following:

      Me/Melo/STAT: 64.5 PPG/47 shots per game...

This means we're scoring 65% of our points, while only taking 50%/55% of the shots...unbelieveable...

From what I have learned from this thread. Off awarness, strength, and not using turbo because it causes excessive bumping.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

I'll do some more ranting on how bad our team is [Knicks: 17-9]:

            1. Reliance on Superstars: We have three superstars on our team: Me, Melo, and Amar'e; we've all been named All-Stars and All-NBA selections in my rookie year last year; we're producing ~65 PPG for our potent offense, which scores 100 PPG according to the 'Team Stats'. That means our "Big 3" is scoring a 65% of our teams points; we're not shot hogs either; we're all shooting above .500 (the wonders a good PG can do for Carmelo) and we're only averaging 14, 14 and 17 shots per game, which totals 45 shots; according to some stats I've checked; our team shoots ~89 shots per game; so we're scoring 65% of the points, while shooting only 51% of the shots?!

Last game vs. Memphis, we totaled 78 points out of 105 total points; we scored ~75% of our points, and we went a combined 29/44, or 66% shooting! The rest of our team went a combined...17/45. Great.

            2. Our Bench Sucks: The Big 3 we have carries the front load of the starter's scoring, but we don't have too bad of other two scorers; we have Toney Douglas, who's averaging 12 PPG and Derrick Brown, who is averaging [only] 4 PPG. We're a potent offensive team, and the starters are averaging 82 PPG; this means the bench is producing a whopping 18 PPG! By the way, here's our bench unit:

            CJ Miles/Terrico White/Jamal Johnson (draft)/Zach Sheridan (draft)/Renaldo Balkman/Keith Bogans/Zydrunas Ilgauskas (injury/in uniform)

*I also love the fact that when I give the ball to one of these guys, they decide to dribble and cross/attempt to drive, etc. until the 5 second mark on the shot clock, when, if they don't have a legitimate shot, they rely on Carmelo, me or Amar'e to bail them out, and score. I'm glad some of these guys have only 1 year deals, so they can probably be waived, or traded at the end of this season.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Just got this game thanks to the MLB/NBA 2k combo pack and I have to say, the My Player mode is absolutely awesome. I haven't really played an NBA game since NBA Live 2000, yes the one with Tim Duncan on the cover, so this game has just blown me away.

I created Thomas Robinson from Kansas (athletic play type) and went 14/11 in the showcase game and was drafted by the Warriors. Right now I'm having trouble putting the ball in the hoop, mostly because the controls are new, but I'm still having a blast. Had to force myself to turn the game off last night.

Anyone have any post play tips that might help me out? I can grab boards with the best of them, but scoring is a different beast.

I have the same problem dealing with some of my bench players and josh Howard(a starter) I give him the ball in good situations and he proceeds to not take a jump and try to create by himself which at this point in his career just doesn't happen.

I have a question about if anyone just freelance's the entire game. Earlier in this thread I saw videos of someone showing how to do it and I have been doing it since and I feel that the game goes so much more fluid. I might turn on auto plays in close late game situations but for the most part I play with them off.

I just had a 30 assist game in a 25 point win over the thunder.
                    Stat Line:
                    22 Pts, 3 Reb, 30 Ast, 14 Stl, 8 T.O. (need to fix) 9-19 FG 0-1 3pt(last second shot) 4-4 FT.

I love how involved Jefferson and Millsap got with 27 and 21 pts respectfully. off the bench favors helped out by getting the last few assist ending with 14 points in 11 minutes of play.

Yea those good ole turnovers 2K makes virtually unavoidable. Kudos on ya 30 assist game, I had one a few games ago, 31, came close to 30 a few times but finally reached it.

I assume you meant 29 but yea, it is great to have I wish I didn't have to score as much but the triple doubles have been up since i started to go aggressive with the pick and roll/pop.

I'm actually making it somewhere in the Playoffs this year.

We went 4-3 against Washington, and are currently 1-3 against Cleveland (if it wasn't for the draft bug this matchup wouldn't actually be hard)

I'm averaging around 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

                              1) particular position that might be better to start out with to learn the game? Tried a SF a few times and really can't figure which play types and styles I should be going with.

                              2) I've done a couple trainers and the shoot around, but is the a place I can practice my free throws? I am totally 0fer in the games I've played.

                              3) Any place I can find some of the other things about the game? I figured the red meter on the floor is my fatigue, but noticed a different meter when shooting. I'm still trying to get down all the control buttons. With they had a more in depth manual than just control buttons.

So far only a few teams have really frustrated me. OKC and LAL due to size and not having a solid perimeter defender to slow down Kobe/Durant/Westbrook(I get smoked).
I do not think I can take credit for that.

However, IMHO, its good to see where folks are so we can better relate to performance, rants, tips and the general discussion of player progress. Just starting out, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what's important NOW (skills & abilities) and what's not relative to your player's progression.

Honestly, I can't...way too slow with the controls. By the time I hit the directional pad (PS3) and find what I want the opposing PG, is at half court preparing to SLAM IT DOWN! )

I can change the Defense though (usually when they are shooting free throws).

                                1. (Knicks - "Star Trio") IMHO, this is a real problem no matter what difficulty, its either too easy to dominate once you "perfect" your game (OVR: 82); or if one of the big 3 fail, you got to play close to perfect to pull off a win at the higher difficulties.

This could be sheer madness, but, I am seriously thinking about moving on after the season regardless if we repeat or not. I have a strange feeling that you can win just as many games on the higher difficulties with less "stars" and good offensive and defensive execution on the part of your my player.

                                2. Oh you went there?

I roll my eyes as soon as they enter the game. We are up by 5 in a tightly contested game in the 3rd qtr (AI make a run time), and D'Antoni decides that Balkman, Barbosa (rookie 57), Payton (rookie 54), Tyson Chandler and the severely slumping A-Train is an appropriate lineup to hold the lead!

Dribbling out of bounds, Bad Passes for turnovers, running into you and hoisting 3s they cannot hit on a GREAT day. However, they don't play terrible defense for SOME REASON! Even Toney Douglas, Shumpert and "Comeback Player of the Year" Shannon Brown (he left all his comeback in Phoenix) do stupid stuff then send me through the roof.

Now on the other side of the coin your opponents bench is in playoff mode!

                                3. Rant - Part II - I am sick of the "ghost star" on the opposing team! The game needs to be fair with the "matchup":

I would not mine Lebron or Dirk going off to decide a game's outcome. Every game someone who has no business "ballin" comes out of the wood works and spoils the game. There is no way Earl Boykins and Mario Chalmers can dominate (scoring) both barely score over 6 points per game and are low-rated players. I literally shut down Tony Parker (6pts) and Kwami Leonard (soph) goes off on Carmelo & Stoud for 26pts?

WTH, is Lebron guarding me in a slump and leaving Chalmers (6-2) on Carmelo Anthony? Why is Paul Pierce guarding me while Rondo (6-1) is on Carmelo Anthony? And I am not talking about rotational defense here.

                                4. Haircut; hard to say, its hard enough to get my head right (cheek bones are off), plus, I want speckled grey hair (I am not that grey...), I am thinking of growing an Afro so I can look like Morgan Freeman, but you get no sideburns with the fro!

                                5. I had to stop for a minute, going thru the mid-season slump (50-62 games) on Superstar has burned me to a crisp. It was worth it though, having no jump hot really made me concentrate on getting to the basket. Getting a lot more points at the foul line and my assist awareness is at an all-time high; whether they convert or not.

We just lost to the Mavs in OT, after bringing my team back in the last 2 minutes for a 3 pt lead, Earl Boykins hits a half-court buzzer beater to send it into OT. I commit a COSTLY turnover (hit the wrong button) down 2, ....they come down for the THREE, and we lose, 102-108....my Water Bottle is still somewhere in the hallway, I better go find it before the old lady gets home.

                                Swinging the bat tonight...
