With some moves I notice I'm not exploding into a launch(maybe i missed the launch window) but the ball handler will go into a jog, and this happens when I want to launch with the hand the ball is in, crossover launches are fine tho. Is it something I'm doing or is the job a new launch as I did a crossover out of it. I know this sounds confusing.

Also How many dribbling moves are in the game this is something I always wondered.

And I guess I'll ask this same question again this year are you happy with the new dribbling system? I am lol.
It's hard to say without being able to see the exact move (animation) you're doing and what you're doing on the sticks. One thing that's a bit different from last year, I now require you to hold Turbo in order to get a hard launch from all standing sizeup moves... whereas last year, in some of them you just had to move the LS. Maybe you're not holding turbo or holding turbo too late? You gotta make sure turbo is held before you deflect the LS.

    A little over 400.

Happy with the dribbling system? I'm never happy. Happier though.

      That sounds perfect.

An idea came as a result of the new controls-- now that LT is a pass modifier: LT-A is bounce pass, LT-X is alley-oop, LT-RS is flashy pass, seems like LT-Y would be the perfect mapping for manual lob pass:

      1. Y has been the post up button for a few years. It's easy to associate LT-Y as the command to pass to someone in the post.

      2. Y is also the jump button, which we usually remember by its placement on the face button diamond. It's easy to associate LT-Y as a pass upwards.

      3. Finally LT-Y mirrors LT-A perfectly. LT-A is a bounce pass directed at the ground, and coincidentally uses the bottom-most button of the face buttons. LT-Y as a lob-pass into the air would be consistent with that mnemonic, with Y being the topmost button.

We've been asking for lob passes for years, and suggestions on how to fit it into the existing control scheme have always been awkward. In the new scheme, lob passes seem to have an open and perfect spot waiting to be mapped to.
Yes Beluba can you get this in. It adds another dynamic for post entry passes which we do sort of have in 2k14 but we don't have any control over it. It also adds another opportunity for another realistic rotation on defense.

That would have been really helpful.

I think it's cool that 2K is willing to go out of the box and map moves in windows alignments beyond the usual simplistic cardinal directions.

Yeah I think that was it me missing the launch window.

I'm pretty sure you already have new ways to improve the system, maybe next gen will allow you to do more?????

            Beluba,

If you decide to go spin moves on left stick I think you would still have to have a spin shot on the right stick. Still have to distinguish between the spin and continue to dribble and the spin shot where you have no live dribble. The only downside I can see is trying to do a cross, cross, spin with two thumbs not as intuitive as being on one thumb. That is a complicated move maybe not that many use it. I am trying to remember but I think this all used to be possible on left stick

Seems like the stutter step while moving has two different animation which is messing me up when driving. Sometimes it's a quick step animation and other times it a slow one handed few dribble in place one. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if both different animated moves should have it own seperate commands. Thanks.

              Anyone?

Thanks fam, but Edotd is still the king, and the beauty of this game and this dribbling system is you can create you're own rhythm and combo's. I got some advance stuff down already going to see how they translate in game.

Hey, Beluba. i finally figured out what's bothering my about the turbo trigger in the half court. basically, if you are already moving in a direction with the left stick and then hit turbo, your player won't speed up a lot of the time...it seems like the only way to go fast is if you hold turbo from the very beginning of your drive (explosive launch). this is kind of annoying because it takes away the "change of pace" where you could start out moving at regular pace with just the left stick and then hit the turbo mid-drive to cut through a gap that you see...but as of now you have to be holding turbo before you even start moving or you'll be stuck in a perpetual jog until you stop again and "restart" your drive with turbo held from the beginning. we should be able to speed up from a regular dribble to a sprint dribble at any time without stopping to do another "launch". just go into freestyle and play around with it to get a sense of what i'm talking about...move around the court with just the left stick in various directions, then hit turbo at different times while moving to see what's going on - sometimes your player will speed up, but many times hitting turbo has no effect on your speed. it also seems that if you are moving in certain directions (like lateral to the basket), you can't speed up with turbo a lot of the time...so the direction of your movement might also be a factor in not being able to speed up. shouldn't we be able to speed up at any time and in any direction?

i'm finally getting a feel for the explosive launches. There is a very narrow window that you have to hit turbo in order for the player do to an explosive launch..you have to make sure and hold turbo a split second before moving or the player will just jog rather than explode. like if you want to cross the ball over to the left and then explode left, you have to tap the right stick left to do the crossover and then instantly hold turbo and move the left stick just before the crossover animation completes. the timing window is a little too narrow for my taste, but i guess if i get the timing right i should be able to do it consistently...and it encourages more skill to pull off launches. so i suppose i'm cool with it as long as it can be done consistently.

i find that the best way to consistently get explosive launches is to simply hold turbo while doing some right stick moves, then continue holding turbo and move the left stick forward to explode...if you're not holding turbo the entire time (during sizeup and launch), then your player often won't launch forward because the timing is so touchy.

oh, Beluba...there's something else that's bothering me a bit - the "moving catch and shoot" shots are kind of bothering me. like say you have a teammate cutting behind a screen and you pass to him to get him a shot...when he catches the ball and goes into the shot, he stops and turns sharply inward toward the hoop and kind of "steps forward" as he shoots...this "step forward" as he's going into his shot motion often reduces the space between him and the defender and allows the defender to close out...if a receiver is moving as he catches and shoots (like catching after running behind a screen) it would be better if he smoothly went into a moving "momentum" jumper in the direction he was already moving in order to keep the distance between him and the defender. or maybe we could control the type of shot he does as he catches - if we hold the right stick away from the hoop as the pass is in the air, that would "pre-load" a moving shot in the direction you hold the stick...as he catches, it would make him catch and smoothly branch into a fade away on the shot rather than stopping and rotating inward toward the hoop. currently that stopping jumper and "inward step" towards the basket just allows the defender to get too close. why would you want him to catch the ball and step in toward the defender as he's shooting?

also, in these situations, i always thought it would be cool if during any pass to a moving teammate we could hold the left stick in the direction he's moving and make the receiver do a "moving catch" where he catches it and smoothly continues dribbling, rather than stopping to catch the ball...so basically as the pass is in the air, you would hold the left stick in the direction the receiver is moving...this would "pre-load" a moving catch and tell the game that we want him to catch on the move and continue dribbling in that direction without stopping. being able to do this would give us more control to avoid these "stopping" shots in catch and shoot situations. i know we can already do "moving catches" by holding LS in some cases, but it seems like certain catches always make the receiver stop to catch (like when the receiver is curling away from the hoop or lateral to the hoop). it would be nice to be able to execute a moving catch on almost any pass ( i know it's probably not possible to do a moving catch in every situation due to body momentum/physics).

Agreed, specially with the bolded part ... I would like to see more instances of moving catches, but all of them related to players handling and security, not all players should be able to do moving catches (leaving momentum conditions aside).

Please don't abandon the 2K13 control system. I tried this years version of the controls and I was chucking up unintentional shots all the time.

yes, but i would want the moving catches to be controllable - for example, if you are holding the left stick in a direction as the receiver catches, that would make him continue moving...but if you are not holding the left stick as he catches, then that would just make him do a old-fashioned stopping catch. you wouldn't want the game randomly determining it.
