    Re: Going live this year

Live is a ton better this year, but after playing the demo for a few days, once you get past the nifty visuals and new animations, there are still too many holes in the nitty-gritty mechanics. The animations are still too jerky for my tastes, and the AI and rebounding are pretty bad.

Mad props though, they're heading in the right direction. I might pick a used copy around the AS break if I get burned out on the other game...

something I noticed when has anything in the nba looked smooth all the time... not every move is perfect, everyone should not have a smooth jumpshot all the time.

      just my 2 cents

I'm leaning toward Live this year, even if 2k8 will be a better game.I really want to spend alot of time with College Hoops 2k8 this year, and since 2k's pro and college titles play so similar, I just want a different vibe between pro and college this year

The signature jumpers outside of Manu's are all ridiculously wrong, it doesnt have to do with smoothness in my opinion.

Co-sign. The sig shots need a TON of work in this game, it's almost like everyone has a generic shooting form.

On a side note, I saw Duncan (cpu controlled) use a shot that looked like one of his signature turnaround extended one hander today (kinda hard to describe) it looked sweet. His standstill jumper is waaay off though.

Duncan is tough in this demo.....when the cpu decides to get him the ball. I mean, I leave him one on one with Gooden guarding him and he just abuses him. The cpu AI 'seems' like it will punish you down low if they have the matchup advantage.

Basketball games in general have a long way to go before they are simulation.2k8 is not sim neither is live. Both are arcade basketball with somewhat of a sim feel and thats it.

2K7 wasn't a dunkfest. I think it lacked in atmosphere and the post play was limited and canned. Also, the association didn't thrill me.

But with sig shots, real plays, off the ball movement and just good, solid gameplay, 2K7 was simply the best b-ball game in ages.

If I only go with one game, which I am leaning towards right now unfortunately, I want the game with the most replay value FOR ME. I cannot fathom dropping $120+ and playing 82 games with 2 different games. It's pretty unrealistic despite what people may claim.

2K didn't need to do alot to improve 2K8. EA needed to do a ton of work to improve since 2005. I'm hoping both of them did. But truth be told, 2K is the more polished game right now.

Sometimes it just comes down to which engine do you prefer playing with.

Until the 2K8 demo is released, I'm keeping my options open and enjoying the hell out of the Live demo right now.

2K7 was a great but you cant deny it being a dunkfest because every bball game is not bashing it thats just the nature of the beast.
