2k5, 2k6 and 2k7 were all DUNKFESTS...Then add the crazy ability for bums to shoot 3's in 2k7 and the game was far from sim...but like any sports game simulation play depends on the user

2k gets a pass because of the pervasive hatred for ALL things EA...Many are still hot at their acquisition of the NFL License.

2k is not a bad game by any stretch but its far from the perfection that many would have a lesser knowledgable person believe...2k is the same game on next gen that it was on current gen...They have never updated the game engine...they have only polished up the graphics and as we have seen with all of their titles visually they look anything but next gen.

Gameplay on 2k is good but it still has the old gen characteristics of slippin, sliding and other Xbox and ps2 deficiencies...Lets see what 2k does when they truly develop a true NEXT GEN game and not a port up from the xbox

Exactly and this is the reason why Live havent been that good. 2k took the easy route while EA took advantage of this nextgen hardware and its going to show. EA just made a bad decisions by putting FSS in 07, that was their downfall in my opinion.

To their credit EA did try to build their game from the ground up. They failed miserably in the game play area but they crushed NBA 2K in grapics and atmosphere.

This year with Live's game play taking a step up they are closer to giving us what we expected from nextgen basketball in all 3 area's graphics, atmosphere and game play.

They still have some work to do and if they don't take a step backwards in Live 09 that could possibly be the most complete basketball game ever assembled on any console. But we all know how EA likes to mess stuff up right after they seem to be on the edge of greatness in their games.

I'm getting both games this year but 2K really does need to start rebuilding their engine or else I'm not settling for a game that looks no better than my old xbox version.

Well they actually updated the engine this year...The players actually play like themselves a whole lot more then in Live..

Old gen characteristics...like every1's sig shots(which live still cant get right)...a real play book, tons more animations, way better dunk animations, way better ball physics, way better rim physics, more accurate arena depictions and lighting, attributes for each player for guarded and off the dribblr shots as well as catch and shoot..

just look at the 2k vids and compare Bron to Live...its a joke

there is no contradiction my friend....both statements are completely accurate...2k5,6&7 were all dunkfests...and its also true that even with a game that is a dunkfest...WE DON'T HAVE TO TRY AND DUNK EVERY PLAY...But the reality is most bums will use exploits and AI deficiencies to win...

Also bro...no need to psychoanalyze my statements and act like your Dr. Phil...You have your opinion and I have mine...If you don't agree cool...Just keep it movin...I don't have such a high opinion of my own thoughts that I consider anything someone else would say as incorrect...You may want to try the same

Really???...So you already played 2k8???...I've seen 2k vids...It will probably be a good game...hell..its the same game since 2k5 so it better be good...I'm just tired of the same 2k every year...Players look like zombies and all have the same THICK body type slippin and slidin...Thats so old gen to me. Plus I want to play the game..Not have the game play me.

2k is a great game for those people who are OK with a game thats not really been built specifically for a next gen console...Both games will have pluses and minuses...I bought my 360 to play next gen games tho so I'll pass on 2k...It was cool the first and 2nd year but they are simply taking it too far IMO by not completely committing to next gen

I dont blindly support 2k..but I play the better game..2k7 was a better basketball game then the demo of Live 08 ...The gameplay is shallow from what I gather and the players do not play like themselves...The quickstrike moves dont look right most of the time and I can get to the basket any time I want..The shot blocking looks weird and there are tons of other issues..

How is 2k the same game os 2k5..they added sig style(sig shots and dunks), and have improved ai, dunks, isomotion..plus they have a shot stick so you can actually choose what layup of type of dunk to do for the situation...Dont forget duel player control and little things like more accurate pick and rolls and the ability to get your defender up and draw a foul...

Now thats just 2k7, the vids have me excited for 2k8 and the developers have said they still havent shown it all...Live has shown their cards and their isnt much their..

Considering the refinement of the isomotion, addition of defensive stances and controls, the addition of auto-facing, deeper Y-button moves and triple-threat moves, deeper shot-stick controls, no-pause subbing and playcalling...not to mention the cosmetic sig stuff.

Everyone is titled to an opinion, but the "same game since 2k5 on the XBOX" line of thought is lunacy, and doesn't sound very objective...IMO, of course.

A couple things wrong with your post grease you said that live doesn't feature a real playbook. Don't know where you got that from because Live does have a playbook and it feature a lot of plays.

Then I guess you tried to criticize Live's ratings but you haven't even seen all of the individual ratings in live this year so you never know they could have those same ratings in their game too. If not hey they have 70+ individual ratings so I'm sure that you will still be able rate players accurately.

Then finally you said that they have more accurate depictions of arenas in 2K8 but that isn't exactly true because most people say that Lives stadiums are pretty accurate to there real life counterparts but I agree that the lighting is way off. Not to mention you still haven't seen every stadium in every game so I don't know how you can come to a conclusion like that yet

Other than that you hit the nail on the head as to why 2K is more "next gen" then Live.

Court detail is also pretty astonishing with every NBA arena modeled down to what appears to be perfect detail. Lights give glow to the waxed courts. Rims and backboards emit scattered light and shadows from the lamps above, and even the crowd is lit with very impressive detail. If nothing else, EA has nailed the look of the NBA's various arenas and we can't wait to take a tour through all of them.

Obviously I think the goal for all of EA's next-gen titles is to maximize the hardware and offer fans a new experience. With this feature in Live, we thought and hoped it would resonate with fans, and the early feedback is that it has. I can't speak to what will happen on other games from EA, but this is an exciting step forward for this franchise.

This shouldnt be about 2k vs Live... Its not fair to come in and bash 2k because you feeling live right now. 2k series may have grown stale for what ever reasons, for some people, but be honest with your self if you need a change then make the change dont drag the ex girlfriend through the mud cause the skinny girl in class grew boobs during the summer.

I actually liked the demo for live the 2 times Ive played it. Does that mean I hate 2k sports? No!!! me liking live has nothing to do with how feel about
2ksports. People need to stop finding reasons why they should not like one game so they can like another game and just enjoy your choice. I have never seen people sooo sensitive about what they do with thier money, you dont need other people to rationalize how you spendyour cash so stop the internet pissing contest over what basketball game you plan on buying this year.

the thing about the 86 ratings for players is that they dont seem to accurately characterize the differences in characters..It seems like they just put numbers down and didnt implement the code for all of them....
