It's always been like that for me, as well. I am not aware of any fix. It's just a flaw in the game's simulation engine.

Depending on the sliders the simulation can be center dominant (probably more of an engine issue) and also once players hit their junior year they get an all-around tendency boost. So a lot of centers will probably have an higher than usual 3pt rating.

I do mass editing in preseason so I don't really have this issue, but just lower the 3pt tendencies of the centers and forwards.

So i decided to make a new one, however at this point playing the games just are not as fun to me as they used to be. I wanted to approach this from a different perspective, this legacy will be simulation only. I have played through a lot of seasons, recruiting very hard and trying to find coaches to make up for my areas of deficiency. I am in my either 22nd or 23rd season and I have them all documented in the link below. I started at St. Francis (NY) thought they had a good recruiting base and got them to the tournament after some great patience and luckily not getting fired early on. Then moved on to Western Kentucky, they have a good following and I recruited well, and won 1 national championship with them while I was there. Left there for North Carolina and they were so bad that I really couldn't do much with them. It was almost like Charlotte had taken up the recruiting pipeline for UNC due to their lack of success. I left UNC after getting them somehow to the final 4 as a 10 seed for Iowa State. They are my favorite team, have been for a quite a few years. I inherited a really good team but they didn't fit my style. But in year 2 we went on a huge run from the Big 12 Tournament on and won my second national championship. That is where I am currently. I don't see any reason to leave Iowa State until it forces me to retire.

I really like this way of playing, I feel like I am too god at this game, even with adjusted sliders to make if feel realistic. I actually have more fun with losing realistically here and there, makes you appreciate the good times and feel a sense of accomplishment of building a winning team. I have not played a single game or any part of any of the games. I do watch the games the team plays in the NCAA Tournament if they qualify for it and I do some drill development and adjust training throughout the season to focus in on specific deficiencies of each player.

If you notice my career W-L record and accomplishments are blank, I did that because I want to wait until the end of the career to go in and change that, no sense in constantly changing that every year.

Quoting this post because I saw some people in here asking about a tracking sheet. I think this is the best one I've seen so far. I enjoy the Ring Of Honor tab and everything looks clean and sleek.

Yeah, I saw that one as well, I was going to combine his and the other one posted yesterday together.

Really appreciate this. How much do you lower each tendency rating?

If they can't shoot 3's at all, I've always lowered the tendencies of both C/PF's to 0. If they can shoot, I may leave it as be, just depends on how high it is.

If they're an okay shooter, I'll drop them to like 25 or so.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Wow, I love this game! This is a little bit of read, so I'll put in some cliff notes at the end. I just finished a 40 year simulation, without playing any of the games to challenge myself to see if I could lead a team to glory solely as a coach. I started my career with the South Florida Bulls as an open legacy. Despite them being a "Power Six" school, they are arguably one of the weakest teams in that category and I inherited a mediocre line-up. At the time of the release of the game, they didn't make the NCAA tournament since 1992 so I knew coming in that I had my work cut out for me. Sadly, after 4 seasons where I couldn't even lead the team to a .500 record, I was fired and had to continue my coaching career at a "slightly" less prestigious conference.

I then took the Dartmouth job, one because I knew at the time the Ivy League didn't have a conference tournament so it would be easier to make the NCAA tournament if I did well in regular season play. The second reason was at the time I was up in New Hampshire at college, albeit at a DIII school but still felt I had a "northern" connection. Those winters up there are brutal! Anyways, the first couple of years into my tenure was volatile as I took over a team that was in the bottom half of the league. Things were beginning to look up in my second season as I posted my first winning season of 17-11 and 9-5 in conference play, but finished 2nd to eventual champion Cornell. After another 2nd place conference finish a year later, my 4th season at Dartmouth looked to have promise.

The 2014-15 season started after big wins against two power six schools of Norte Dame and Iowa St. However, we struggled in conference play finishing at 9-5. Somehow, we ended in a first place tie with both Columbia and Princeton. Wondering how the game will decide the tie-breaker to see who will get the automatic bid, I was disappointed to find out it was Columbia. I guess the game just picks the team that appears first in alphabetical order in this rare case. Luckily, the following year I finally got to the NCAA tournament as a 13 seed with an 18-11 record but were bounced in the first round. From there, it was no looking back for Dartmouth. I made the tournament every year for the remainder of my tenure, capping off with a 29-3 record and a perfect 14-0 record in my 9th year at DART. We were rewarded with a #3 seed and made our way to the Sweet Sixteen where we got upset by #10 seed Villanova. Knowing most of my seniors were gone, I decided to go onto greener(and warmer!) pastures at a true mid-major school to get to my first ever Final Four.

The first three years at New Orleans were uneventful, as I missed the tournament but did finish with a .500 or better record each of those years. In my 4th year I won the Sun Belt title, but was upset by UL-Lafayette in the conference tournament. On the bubble with an RPI of 60 and a record of 23-8, I just missed the tourney and had to settle for the NIT. After making the NCAA tourney the very next year but getting bounced in the first round, my 6th year at UNO would be quite magical.

Led by my star center and shooting guard, we ran the table going undefeated with a 31-0 record and a perfect 18-0 conference record. After winning the Sun Belt tourney and getting the #1 seed as well as finishing #1 in the AP Top 25 poll it was finally time to do some damage and get past the Sweet 16. After cruising along in the first two games in the tournament; we got paired with #5 seed Pittsburgh. They were quite the powerhouse program at the time, winning 3 national championships in the last 18 years so I knew it would be quite the challenge. The season ended in heartbreak as we lost by 4, and Pittsburgh ended up winning the NCAA title. With so much promise to begin the NCAA tournament and falling flat, I considered leaving for another crack at a Power Six school but decided I had to avenge that loss and stay at New Orleans for another few years.

I could never duplicate the success of that year, though the following year we earned a #3 seed with a 29-3 record. We got bounced in the second round, losing to Miami(FL) by 1. In the last two years of my tenure at New Orleans I was able to lead them to consecutive Sweet 16 appearances, but I could never get them to that elusive "Elite 8". Ironically, the year after I left they got to the Elite 8. After 9 years at New Orleans, it was time to move on to a new chapter in my coaching career; the Big 12 conference and Missouri!

As expected, I had to endure three mediocre years at Missouri before I could develop and bring in my own recruits. We finished 14-17 in my 3rd year, and I thought it was going to be South Florida Deja vu all over again. In my 4th year we made the tournament, despite a 19-12 record and not winning the Big 12 tournament we snuck in on the bubble but directly proceeded to lose in the first round. After completely missing the tournament the year after that, I wondered if I could ever coach a team to an NCAA title or even an Elite 8 appearance for that matter. After a 25-9 record and 2nd round appearance in my 6th year, I finally felt that I was slowly getting the pieces together to made a deep run in the tournament soon.

The 2035-36 season started like any other, winning several games against worthy non-conference foes but somehow stumbling in league play to an 11-5 record and finishing 2nd in the conference. However, we ran hot in the Big 12 tourney, won it and ended up earning a #2 seed. We quickly disposed our first two opponents, getting to the Sweet 16 for the umpteenth time. This time, we quickly dispatched USC and were on to the Elite 8! We had a titanic match-up looming over us with #1 Virginia, a team that recently built up a killer program in the ACC. We continued our magical run, stomping all over them 83-55 and heading to the team's and my first ever Final Four. The Final Four was certainly the biggest stage, and there were no remaining weak teams in the field since the beginning of the round of 32. We were paired up with another #1 seed, UNLV who ran over the Mountain West conference. In such a nail-biting game, regulation was not enough as the game went into OT. We pulled out the "W" and were on to face yet another #1 seed, Georgia Tech who was ranked 99 OVR and were destined to be our hardest opponent yet. In the end, we failed to beat GT and the quest for Missouri's and my first ever NCAA title fell just short.

It took another 3 years of failed Elite 8 and Sweet 16 appearances to finally get back to the Final Four. In my 11th year at Missouri, I felt I had a magical team as we finished with the overall #1 seed and won both the Big 12 regular season and conference tournament. In the Final Four we defeated fellow #1 seed Duke by 3 earning us the right to play in the NCAA title game and a date to face none other than Georgia Tech. As the final horn sounded, redemption was made as years of painful losses and such close calls were forgotten as Missouri hoisted the trophy ! It took 30+ years and the journey was long and painful at times but finally I won my 1st ever college basketball title.

I earned a lifetime contract shortly after, and coached Missouri to 2 more NCAA championships before the 40 year period was over. With 3 NCAA titles, Missouri finally earned the reputation of being college basketball elite teams! With a record of 904-394, I also was able to accomplish 900 wins and college basketball immortality.

Awesome read Pats! Congrats on the title. I'm wondering how you played through this legacy? Did you just sim each game? I've found the sim engine to be fickle and produce somewhat random outcomes, making it hard to make deep runs even with really solid teams.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I fired up my old legacy a couple of months ago, I had been at ISU (my fav team) for a decade or so but every time I pick the game back up I get the itch to rebuild a mid/low major team. I ended up simming my current season and taking a new job at Chicago St. We scheduled very light in season 1 and managed to finish 20-8. I just started season 2, we won the Deodorant Classic tourney beating St Francis, Baylor and #20 Boston College, so we're off to a good start.

Chicago St is an independent so I don't get a conference tourney but I do have the luxury of scheduling all 28 games. This year I beefed up the schedule with games against mid/high majors in the midwest. Next year I'll return all 5 starters (1 jr, 2 soph, 2 fr start this year) so I plan to schedule as tough as I can.

Anyone have experience with at large bids at independent schools?

Using 2016 roster. Just finished my legacy! 40 years! started with Wagner for 3 years, Long Beach State for 6 I believe, with a Title game appearance. 2 years at San Diego State with a title in 2nd year. Then on to my favorite school Michigan! Won a ridiculous 15 National Championships there! Mostly simulation. No reloading if I lost in tourney (I PROMISE). Actually received a Lifetime contract from Michigan after about 15 years there. finished with 1045 wins! I'm really sad it is over. Love this game and only wish they could make another CBB game!

Honestly would give this game a 100/100. I play it every day still.

Bought it on Amazon. Watched a bunch of YT videos. Looks like, even though the graphics are pretty dated, that it plays much more like real basketball then NCAA does. Plus the depth of recruiting and such adds to the value as opposed to the barebones version in the other title. I am game.

I'm confused by the simulated AI in this game. I'm running a Legacy with Nebraska. In my 5th season, I finished 20-13 (8-8 in Big XII). I was ranked as high as #22. I beat 5 ranked teams during the season and ended up in the Big XII Conference Championship, but lost to Kansas (of course). I didn't get into the NCAA Tournament, but I also didn't even get an NIT invite. Does that sound strange? Is there no CBI in this game?

Starting Season 6 I was ranked preseason at #18. I started 4-0, beating Wyoming, Wisconsin, Wichita State, and Miami (FL). Then I lost 3 straight to Alcorn State, Wofford, and North Carolina A&T. I did not sustain any injuries. I'm completely baffled by this.

FYI, I sim all games as I want to concentrate on my recruiting skills. In Season 6, my offense and defense are both B+ and my two assistants are B/B+ and A/B-

Any advice to make the results more realistic would be appreciated.

OSUPiper has a great threat about edits he does at this post. I don't quite get as deep as he does - I have a tendency of falling down the editing rabbit hole sometimes to get things perfect - but I do like to edit 5-10 super freshmen/sophs at big schools and then I also go through all the smaller conferences and edit 6'9" or taller players to be 1-4" shorter.

I just go through the teams, sort their roster by height, and if they have any tall Fr. (or JUCO recruit), take a couple inches off their height. It can take an hour or two, but it also gives me a chance to kind of get to know teams/players more in-depth.

I've only done it for a few seasons, but so far it has seemed to minimize wacky upsets, especially in the NCAA tournament because the seedings are generally better.
