I got the group of death and I ended up getting knocked out in the Elite 8 by #3 Butler

The game was close but my star man Fouled out with 5 minutes to go and after that I had to keep in through my perimeter shooting but Butler won on a buzzer beater 101-99

Its been almost 1 year since anyone replied!!!! Is anyone still playing? I am currently playing and hope to post an update next week. Actually been playing this one with some sliders that make the game challenging and realistic as opposed to the past. I am about 10 seasons or so in and haven't been as in depth as in the past, lots of life changes (getting married, buying a house) but still playing this awesome game!

Anyone else still playing? Post about it!

I've legit been playing this game for almost 10 (real) years now. I'm in year 2033 of my career legacy. Started at UC Riverside, moved onto North Texas where I won a national championship and made another final four, now I've been at Wake Forest since 2015-16 where I've won 3 National Championships and just made my 6th Final Four.

I used to post more back in the day and I'm sure you search this thread you will see highlights of my coaching career. This season I won the ACC at 13-3, won ACC tournament, and was number one overall seed. After steamrolling the first 3 rounds I found myself down double digits in the elite 8 to 3 seeded Richmond.

They had a great mix of zone defenses that I just couldn't figure out, and their two starts PG Cripe and PF Morgan were practically unstoppable. Morgan ended up 9-9 with 18 pts and 9 rebs.

So I found myself down 3 under a minute left. That's when my star SG and first ever number one overall recruit, Dion Herber got a steal and a dunk to cut it to one. We locked down on D and got the ball back. Then instead of holding for the last shot, I kicked to Herber.... Splash! The 3 put us up by 2 with 10 seconds left. Their pg Cripe drove it and got fouled to get two FT, which he sunk. Still had time to advance to half court. Ran my favorite inbound play, sg dual wings, which featured my C setting a screen for Dion off the inbound. Got an open look for the win... And missed it. OT.

So ot starts and they pulled ahead early. Our team fought back, led by some clutch shots by Herber. We finally pull ahead on a layup by our PF Lance hedges, make our FTs, and win 87-82 to advance to the final four. We now have to face a 5 seed Duke team that handed us our only home loss earlier this season.

So yeah, in short, I'm still playing this game. 😛

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Great that someone is still alive and playing out there! Finally got to sit down and post my update. I found some sliders I like, the game-play is really challenging for me. I play most games and simulate many of the games against weaker competition or if my team is going through a rebuilding year that I cut players from my team to clear scholarship room. I have played 18 seasons thus far so basically half way through a closed legacy, yearly breakdown is below:

            07-08 Morehead State 4-22
            09-09 Morehead State 13-16
09-10 Morehead State 25-5 NCAA First Round
            10-11 Morehead State 21-10 NIT

Started with a rough Morehead State team (I am from Kentucky) and basically cut the whole roster year one clearing a bunch of scholarships for a rebuild. I do this as much as I possibly can so I can start each team I leave for. I had two tough years and finally turned the corner in year 3 with a solid team that made it to the tourney. Year 4 was actually a disappointment to me, I had bad chemistry and never really could find a lineup that worked. Strange since I had the same players as the year prior. I then decided to move on for year 5 of my legacy and was it a great decision...

            11-12 Marist 19-14
            12-13 Marist 39-0 National Champions
            13-14 Marist 37-0 National Champions

Okay so before everyone thinks I cheated, I promise this was legit. I had 9 scholarships in year 1 with Marist and signed a top 3 class. I think because they are in New York recruits gravitate to them. Plus my coach had A+ charisma by this point as well so that had to help. I had a heck of a team of freshmen, they couldn't be touched by anyone in conference. I also scheduled very soft just in case my team needed some time to gel. I had a couple of close games in the tournament, but never really had a fear that I would lose. I think I could have stayed 2 more years with this team and won two more championships. The players were that good, so good in fact they won the tournament in 2015-16 with a 35-2 record as seniors with a different coach! I chose to leave for a power conference and found a team with good scholarship situation in Oregon State.

            14-15 Oregon State 12-18
15-16 Oregon State 25-10 Elite Eight
16-17 Oregon State 37-2 Championship Game
17-18 Oregon State 40-0 National Champions
18-19 Oregon State 38-1 Championship Game

I took over a really bad Oregon State team and had pretty solid success there winning a title and getting to 3 title games in a row. The one thing I never really liked was that I couldn't recruit at a very high level. I had a bad location for sure, but even after my success the best I could do was a top 10 class. The on court product was solid, I always had good players just no elite level talents that could make my team unstoppable when I went into games when I needed a "go-to guy". I decided to leave for a better recruiting scene and chose Clemson:

            19-20 Clemson 31-2 National Champions
            20-21 Clemson 20-16

I inherited a VERY good team of seniors but the future was not very bright unless I recruited well. The team in year one was great, having little trouble outside of the ACC tourney and one regular season game. The next year was a struggle. I redshirted a couple of players who I recruited that came in lower overall than expected, that really hurt my depth and I never had much chemistry. I also scheduled very difficult and decided if a job opened up that I wanted for my final destination then I would look for it. Oddly enough in year 2 I found it:

            21-22 Ole Miss 15-14
22-23 Ole Miss 20-13 First Round
23-24 Ole Miss 9-1 IN PROGRESS

I have played so many of these legacies and I really don't like Ole Miss in real life, I just decided this is going to be my landing spot long term. I like the arena and the conference. Also it is an underrated recruiting bed, lots of JUCO talent like to go to the SEC, and several high end prospects like the SEC. First year wasn't awful as I expected (only had 8 players after cutting several FR & SO), year 2 was an improvement and year 3 is looking good so far. I brought in a top 10 recruiting class with 6 scholarships, building a solid roster fit to the style of play I employ.

Not sure how much more I will progress on this once warmer weather gets here the XBOX doesn't get much play. However, I keep up with updates to this forum. Hope anyone who reads this enjoys, keep playing this game! Maybe one day they will make another one lol

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

i just picked this back up after like 3 years. i'm in the third year of my legacy at uc davis where i'm trying to make my coach be as much like coach carter (yes from the movie) so the coach attributes i upped first were discipline and teaching. i'll probably make charisma the last or second to last one along with scouting just to make recruiting harder. i'm also trying to stay on the west coast, so i'm only going to leave uc davis if a school on the west coast wants to hire me, so i could be here for a while.

honestly i don't remember what happened in the first two years of this legacy but it says i went 18-13 my first year with an nit berth and 27-4 the second year and actually made it to the national championship. when i started playing again i upped the difficulty to mop because there's no way i should have made it that far this early. i'm currently at 19-4 right now with only 1 loss in conference play since i raised the difficulty. i have two conference games left but i'm currently projected to be a 7 seed in the tournament. i might have locked up an at large berth but i might have to win the conference tourney, which i actually haven't done even though i won the regular season conference championship both years.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

finished year 3 with a third straight big west regular season championship even though i was tied with cal state northridge at 14-2 and both of my losses were to them. you would think they have the tiebreaker but i guess not. in the first round of the conference tourney i couldn't hit anything and lost by 2 after a reaching foul by the cpu with 3 seconds left gave my opponent 2 free throws. still managed to get a 10 seed but got matched up against unc in round 1.

i didn't stand a chance. unc got out to a huge early lead and somehow i managed to comeback and even take a 1 or 2 point lead halfway through the first half, but they slowly extended their lead up to 15 or so by halftime and i couldn't get it within 5 in the second half.

i was able to sign a 4* pg, who is now my starter, along with a 3* sf, both of whom are 80+ 3pt shooters. i did have two players leave because they were unhappy with their playing time so i'll have to look to fill those spots this year.

didn't get any offers from west coast programs that would be an upgrade so i decided to stay for my fourth season at uc davis. mark few was second in line for south carolina so that would have been interesting if he had left gonzaga. we'll see what opens up next year.

started off year 4 with a blowout of an independent school and then a buzzer beater win over portland that we almost blew. then i lost at #17 utah state (they went 31-4 last year and got a #2 seed!!!!) even though i held their leading scorer who averaged like 27 a game to only 4. followed that with a blowout of valpo and a double ot win over richmond in a tournament. i play montana state in the championship and then gonzaga, usc, savannah state, and san diego state before conference play starts. the 3 west coast teams are all away games, so if i can beat one of them and head into the conference with only 3 losses, i'll feel pretty good about that.

This game bases tiebreakers off of overall record, unfortunately. I had that happen to me in my first season at Princeton many, many years ago. We finished with the same 11-3 conference record and I swept them, but they got the NCAA Tournament appearance because they had a better overall record (the Ivy League didn’t have a conference tournament at the time).

Yes, for all the amazing things the VC (2K) team pulled off in this game, there are definitely some obvious, head-scratcher-type blunders in the game. Tiebreakers and bracket placement have issues that require pretty simple solutions.

Started a legacy with Long Island and in my first season got a 6'7, 4* SF out of Queens. Uconn was in on him the whole time and in the lead, then got a commit and left him for me. He came in as a 77 overall and by far my best player on the team

Just picked up the sticks again and continued my legacy. Started with original rosters and names and recreated my own NCAA universe I am in 2017-2018 season. Will point my history and tracker tonight. Been interesting and have been adding big names players for each season as they were in their current years in real life.

I believe if you change your defensive pressure to 100 in coach profile that will help. It also just depends on how good of defenders you have.

I took the UALR (Little Rock) job, and signed 2 5* JUCO guys late. Team is pretty good, and off to a 5-1 start.

Apparently, I went to the Final 4 last year with UALR which I don't remember at all. My goal is still the same, coaching a SEC team.

Following up on my last post, I didn't win a single game against USC, Gonzaga, or SDSU. All three games pretty much followed the same trend. I keep it close for 29 minutes, then I go cold for 5 minutes or so and they get a 15 point lead and that's pretty much the end of that. Conference play went pretty much how it has always gone. I went 14-2 and won my fourth straight Big West regular season championship. However, for the first time I managed to also win the conference tourney and I got an 11 seed in the NCAA tournament. I played Texas Tech in round one and this game went exactly how I described above.

In the coaching carousel, Mark Few left 15-13 Gonzaga and went to Wisconsin. I was offered the job, but I turned it down and went to San Francisco. They went 3-27 and winless in conference play. If you're wondering why I went to a worse team, I thought it would be easier to recruit in California with some of the relationships I made when I was at UC Davis. My team is not good by any means, but I do have a few decent players. I have two centers who aren't totally awful and my starting PG and SG are okay, they can both handle, and the SG is an average shooter, but they are the only two guards that are good enough to play. There are only 4 other guys who will play and 3 of them are SFs who are 6'8" or 6'9" and can take advantage of smaller players if they ever come in at SG, but they can't do much else. The last guy is actually my best player by overall rating and my starting PF but he's not really good at anything.

The good news is that I have 5 scholarships to hand out and I've offered them to a 5* (#3 ovr) who has me #2 behind Arizona. If they offer him I'll probably pull my offer because they're way ahead right now. The other 4 all went to 4*s who have me #1. I feel pretty good about landing these guys and at least one should commit during the early signing period. If the 5* goes elsewhere, I have another 4* and a 3* who both have me at 100%.

Right now I'm 3 games into the season. Started out with a game at Utah State. They've been incredible the past 3 seasons and their best player is a 90 ovr SF. He scored 35 and I was never really in that game after the first few minutes. Game 2 was at #10 UNLV. This was a much lower scoring game, and I thought I might pull off the upset, but I couldn't get it within 3 down the stretch and they ended up winning by 9. Game 3 was at Northern Arizona and I was down 15-2 9 minutes into the game. I managed to slowly close the gap and only went into the half down 3. They could not score to start the 2nd half and I eventually pulled away despite my own cold streaks and got my first win of the season. This is going to be a rough year, but if it doesn't go completely off the rails I should be able to take this recruiting class and be much better next year.
