Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I started a new career legacy a couple weeks ago since I needed something fresh. I simulated my first few seasons solely focusing on recruiting some good talent and improving each season.

Started with UCR for two seasons then moved to Western Michigan for 3 seasons before, like Anybodykilla, the Syracuse job opened up. Since I'm an aussie I only know the big college teams like Georgetown, Duke, UNC, etc. But I've been watching a few NCAA games this season and really got into both Western Virginia and Syracuse. So this job offer was an absolute treat.

Not to mention inheriting a strong team with an All-American backcourt. The only problem with the team was size having only 2 decent PFs on the team, no Cs and a bull**** weak PF walk-on rated about 53 or something.

Instantly I knew my recruiting needed to focus on size. And the No. 1 centre in the country was a huge 7'2' 279lbs monster. I pushed hard and luckily, since most other teams focused on the top 10 SGs and PGs I was able to snag him in the early signing period.

The quest for the National Championship continues.

Is it even possible to land big jobs anymore with updated rosters? It seems like nothing ever opens up, and I am stuck at a mid major for 15 years.

Made Elite 8, Sweet 16, and 2nd Round, and still haven't managed any Power Conf offers. Best offer I got was Gonzaga last year, but I stayed put. Wake didn't offer me when they had an opening last offseason, I was surprised.
I was out of town all weekend and just got back home late last night, so forgive me for not responding earlier.

Anyway, I've been at ASU for 7 or 8 years, I forget exactly how long. I've made the NCAA Tourney twice before with them, but never made it past the 2nd round. This team here is my best team yet and is still pretty young (only one senior starter, one junior, and 3 freshmen/sophs that also start), so I'm hoping for good things in the next couple of years. I should be able to finish the regular season tonight and start the conference tourney at least.

I'm playing an open legacy, so I don't know if that makes a difference whether or not you get better offers from a mid-major.

Lost in the first round of the dance. Now I'm in my third season at North Florida, and I'm playing a much tougher schedule because of the 3 star recruits I've been landing. I kind of out-recruited myself because my frontcourt is pretty crowded.

I turned down the Boise State and Western Michigan jobs last season. I'm sick of dominating the weak Atlantic Sun so I'm definitely looking to move after this season.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just started a new closed legacy with Maine today.
All-Conference with sliders tweaked slightly in favor of the CPU, it's a challenge for me anyway.
First game is an early season tournament(Coaches v. Cancer, I think)
Played Richmond and easily defeated them 74-62. I didn't think I'd beat them, but to have won by 12 was impressive. My PF Malachi Peay, from Cameroon, played outstanding netting himself 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Next round vs #3 Memphis. Memphis is the host of the tournament so they got a home court advantage.

We hung close early on, even leading by as much as 5. Memphis lead 39-31 at the half. My guys were playing incredibly well.
I was still hanging in there early in the 2nd half, and thought if I could stay in single digits, I'd be a happy camper.
Well...Memphis started playing like the #3 team that they were.
Final score: Memphis 78, Maine 49. They outscored me 39-18 in the 2nd half, I believe I didn't make a single FG in the last 5 minutes. We just fell apart. They shut down my big men, who were a big reason why I won the Richmond game.

I was happy with the result though, as realistically I should have been destroyed like that.
              UPDATE: St. Francis(NY) 54, Maine 49
              Quinnipiac 65, Maine 58
Tough losses, now 1-3. I've got Northeastern(1-2) next.

I didn't get a chance to play last night, so I'll have to finish up my regular season tonight.

EDIT 03/31/10: I finished the regular season and won the conference tournament last night and finished with a 27-3 record, a Top 25 ranking, and an RPI in the top 10. I haven't done the Selection Show yet, but Bracketology has us as a #4 seed now.

                  UPDATE:
Man, When I took over this Cuse team and seen my team, I thought to myself, Hmm Can I win some games with this team? and I Have..After going threw the OOC games, I now sit at 13-0(1-0) and ranked 11th in the country. Started the season unranked. I was actually wrong in my other thread, My PG,PF,C and 6th man were all seniors, so most of my top depth will be leaving this year. I got 4 recruits all signed early season...

4*C, Ranked #64ovr 1pos , He's the #1 center in the class and stands at 6'11. Gonna need him after losing my starting center. He probably will start next year.

5*PF #8Ovr 2pos, The height of the #1 PF was only 6'6 and I wasnt looking for that, my guy is 6'8 230. Im happy as heck, he also has a shot at starting next year.

5*SG #16ovr 4pos, Has A+ Shooting. My current Freshmen is rated 81 and starting right now avg 14ppg. This guy will most likely be 6th or 7th man inless he comes in OVR of 80^

5*PG WORLD , First time since the last patch have I seen a 5* World recruit, on a rare occasian I have seen 4* but this was the first time. 6'2 PG, Most likely starter next season also inless he blows.

I just beat #19 ranked Seton Hall today for my first conf win, There are 9...yes..9 Big East teams ranked right now LOL. YEA
                  Paul Harris...thats all
                  #9 Syracuse Orange!! (15-1)(3-0)

Update: Well...it has been a struggle - to say the least - for the Maine Black Bears. We had a 5 game losing streak including and after the Memphis loss.
Finallly won a game(our first home win) against NJIT...The worst team in the nation but a W is a W. Then got clobbered by Florida State 79-49. Very similar to the Memphis game.
                    Current record: 2-6

We've only got 4 OOC games left and one is against UConn.

Recruiting isn't going well. Lost some nice looking prospects who had a good deal of interest in us, but in the end lost them to other schools in the region.
Now I've got my eye on a 2* Center who is 7'0, 271 lbs. We are his #2 school right now, so I'm working hard at getting him, seeing as we don't have much size at the moment.

A side note for all you out there - I only have one senior on this team. YES ONE. I have 4 freshman. I'm hoping to build these guys up over the years and see how we can do.."Fab Four" anyone?

Good luck with your version of your Fab 5. I created my own Fab 5 of Freshman with players from the boards and started a legacy at UC Davis. We won the National Title as Freshman (all rated 70 Overall) We lost to **** in the National Championship in year 2 (we are all rated 72 overall) and was getting ready to start year 3 when my *** crashed. (A few guys have bumped to a 74 Overall)

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Relevant background info: My last two career legacies each were ended after only three seasons with me being fired both times.

Due to time constraints, I don't play enough to be great on the sticks. I also have a system where I play all home conference games in year one, away conference games in year two, and non-conference games in year three, with the rest being simmed.

My lack of skill had me lose a lot of games I played, but there seemed to also be a bit of bad management of coach settings maybe? Whatever the case, my teams never progressed very quickly and ended my legacies.

Hence, I had to relaunch, this time at Elon (N. Colorado and Centenary were my earlier failed launching points), chosen for no reason other than it was a conference in which I'd not played prior.

Opened on the road at VaTech; lost by 30, with a few regulars going down to injury. Hosted Ga. State and lost by 6 with another injury to make it worse.

I juggled the rotations a bit to work around the injuries and ended up with and undersized but fast line-up. When guys are hurt, I take them out completely so the injuries don't linger (is that my imagination or do they linger if you let them play?). Figured, what the heck as I had no thoughts I'd win my next game at Georgia.

                            But I did. I thought "fluke...happens."

Didn't alter the rotations for the game at VCU, which was another victory. Holy poop, is what I thought about that.

Next two games were conference home games, which meant it was time to actually play as my team. Wondered if I'd see my luck come to an end. For whatever reason, my team absolutely crushed it against W. Carolina and Furman, who had similar OVR ratings.

Same sliders I used in my Centenary legacy in which I struggled in sim games even when I had the higher rating, not to mention how hard it was for me to win when I was the one playing.

I doubt I suddenly got a lot better at the game, but I'm pretty happy for whatever has caused my new-found success.

sorry...that was long....I tend to go long if I don't go really short.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Year 7 of My Legacy, my 4th Year at North Texas, and this is probably top to bottom the most talented team I've had yet. No seniors, but plenty of 4 and 5-star FR, SO, and JRs. Brought in the #9 overall in the nation and #2 SG Colin Freije from Texas. More on him later. Also was able to get the Indiana Mr. Basketball Linden Wong. Along w/ plenty of guys who redshirted last year and are Freshman now. Quite a deep squad. But young as well, only returning 2 starters.

Now, to start the season, opted to play the 2K College Classic. Played in the Oklahoma Region, so my 1st game was Alcorn St. Bit of a struggle at first b/c of the youth, but pulled away at the end to set up a game w/ #20 Texas to see who would advance to MSG. Texas jumped on us early and led 41-32 at the half. Things were not looking good. They kept it up and led 62-51 in the 2nd half. We didn't go away and an 11-0 run helped us tie it at 62. UT pulled back ahead by 4 late but a 3 by Freije cut it to 1. We got a steal on the other end and lay it up on the fast break to take the lead. Texas in desperation mode...and they can't hit a shot. They foul and we hit our free throws to win 83-79 and advance to NYC.

In the SF we played 4-0 Rhode Island. It was a tight game all the way through, but we pulled away in the end to win 77-70 and set up a matchup w/ #7 Marquette for the title. Marquette was strong. Press all day, fast tempo. But we held tough halfway through the 2nd half when my star 7'1 C Clinton Arline got injured - strained achilles --out 3 weeks. Arline had 17 and 9 rebs before he got hurt, so it was a big blow. After that we couldn't stay in it, and the press forced turnovers, which led to our downfall. Marquette won 84-71. Return home w/o Arline and beat Steven F. Austin 64-39.

Now with Arline out we have to go down to Baylor to play. We came out strong and hung with them to go up at halftime 36-28. My star JR Ron Ebong was carrying us. In the 2nd half Baylor kept coming, but I hung tough. Eventually we get down inside a minute. We're up 72-68. Baylor PG pulls up for 3 barely past half court - and makes it. They foul, we make both free throws, Baylor calls time at half court. 31 seconds left Baylor down 74-71. Right off the inbound Baylor guy comes off a screen wide open 3 - BANG! Tie game 74-74. I bring it up and let time run down before calling a play. I go for the Pick and Roll w/ Ebong but the Baylor 2-3 covers it up. Ebong kicks out to Freije for the 3 and the win...clank...clank....IT'S GOOD!!!!!! UNT wins 77-74.

So that's how our season starts. 5-1 w/ wins over Texas and Baylor. Now we go to East Carolina, who beat Duke in a conference tourney earlier. Another tough game it looks like.

My SR back-up PG took a 20-some day injury with a "broken finger" but is 'inj' and not 'out.' I was already missing my back-up SG who was out with something (I forget). I benched them out of fear he wouldn't be ready for the regular season and promptly lost three (simmed away conf) games in a row. It was clear his scoring off the bench was needed, so I put him back in the rotation for my next game, for which I also had gotten my SG back, which was against a much higher rated team (Ga. Southern). I struggled initially and towards the end, but managed to take a 4-point lead into the last minute which led to a procession to the charity stripe.
