Picking up now after another respite. My 12th season overall and 4th at Wake Forest. For the first time since I've been at Wake we started the season top 25. Started off the season by losing to Oklahoma in the finals of the Paradise Jam 69-62. Then had another tough loss against a fellow top 25 team UNLV 94-77. Had a key win on the road against Georgetown, who's top 10 right now but wasn't ranked at the time.

In ACC play, started off w/ a home win against Duke. Then lost at 2 top 25 teams in FSU and NC St by double digits. Went back home and faced Miami, who was winless in the ACC. They were up by as many as 15 in the 2nd half, but a furious comeback and we won 61-60. Then we had another home game against #2 Clemson, who I've personally never beaten in my 12 seasons of coaching.

Early on we were playing great defensively and took a 2pt lead into the half. Then we steadied and stayed ahead up 3 late in regulation when they nailed a 3 to force OT. They were up by 4 in OT but Morkeliunas make a 3 to cut it to 1. Then a turnover and a breakaway layup over the defense by White and we were up 1. We got the stop on D and made our FTs to win 74-69 in OT.

We're currently 12-4, 3-2 in the ACC, and 14th in the nation.

I just beat #20 Xavier 70-61. It is the final game without Starting PG Beeler. I had to change up how we play. I boosted Off Tempo from 30 to 80, Fast Break from 40 to 80. I really needed to take advantage of my team speed. I kept feeding the hot hand. I only attempted 9 3pters this game compared to 25+. THat is the way I need to play through rest of season. THat game boosted me to #21. Next game against George Washington.

I made the NCAA Tournament as a #6 seed after going 24-7. I lost against #11 seed Duke 1st. I am not sure this was the year I want to make a run. I think I would have a better chance next year with players being more experience I will have a vet team next year.

Kinda surprised we won our Conference Championship. We went 11-5 in our conference. I thought Xavier or Temple would have won it. Sr Thomson mad 2nd-Team All-Conference. Fr Rand made Freshman All-Conference. I am 172-85 after 8 seasons. Goal is to get to 200 next year, so I have to win 28 games.

I am in a predicament. I am offered the Gonzaga job. It is a Mid-Major, but it is a great job. 89 OVR Off, 87 DEF, 90 Shot, and 90 REB. Lowest rated starter is rated 77. If I think about it I probably wasnt going to stay after next year with UMASS, since I would have had to completely rebuild team with alot of SRs. I am going to take the job, it is only a two year contract. I dont mind taking it. They had a veteran team, so I can bring in my type of players while they wait. SFA coach replaced me.

I might sim this season with Gonzaga. I didnt realize that I would lose a ton of players. But this roster is still better than UMASS. Team Unity went from 5/6 to 2/6. But, we face a easy schedule(I dont touch schedules). So we can still have a 20+ win season. I will focus on recruiting.
I was mentioned in the College Hoops Preview show for Coach Changes,

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

My 9th season is going well. It is being simulated. We are 13-1 heading into Conference play. Only tough team we faced was Wash(beat us badly), besides that only 4 teams we faced are currently over .500. Even though WASH beat us, we stole a 5 star recruit from them. So, I consider that a win. He is a Undersized SG who is a All-American and is ranked #21. Fills a huge void at SG not only quality but depth(no SGs after this year. We only have 1 scholarship left. I might go after a SG(for depth) or a 3 star SF. We only have 2 SRs on team. If I am able to sign a 4 star PG and PF/C next year, by the 3rd year with team we may be able to do something in the tourney. I am 15 wins away from 200 career wins.

Man, I didn't get squat for offers. UConn was the top job and I was their #2 choice, so I assumed the next job, Syracuse, would have me #1. But no, I was their #2 choice too and every single power job had me at two and I would be leapfrogged by a different coach each time the previous school made a hire. So the top two jobs to actually offer me were 9-19 Tulsa and a 24 win Drexel team that was losing every single front court player. So here I go again, another run with Vermont.

I forgot what I was offered first. I was #2 for a really good team. I was #2 for Gonzaga. I was surprised when I leapfrogged for the top spot. I didnt realize all the SRs on team and lost all the good players. But, that team was still a better roster than I had at UMASS. I signed a 5 star recruit. I havent signed a 4 star with UMASS. It seems like my thing to only stay with a team for 4 years then leave. But, I am able to recruit 4 or higher star players with Gonzaga. So, I might stay until I get a real good job. With easy non-conference schedules, I should be able to win 25+ games a year.

How many years into your legacy are you? I know your coaching overall has to be a certain letter grade (I think it's B+, not sure though) to be hired by a major school. That might be why you got passed up on.

Wow, Duke as an 11 seed? You had a tough draw there. I love this game, but occasionally you'll get some screwy tournament brackets, such as the one where I used WVU and opened up with another Big East team in Georgetown. After winning that one, I met up with another Big East team in UConn in the 2nd round. I don't think we'll ever see the real committee set up that kind of bracket with same conference teams. LOL I just wish 2K would have continued this series and ironed out some of the wrinkles from 2K8. They were on the verge of College Hoops utopia with this one.

I'm 6 years in. My grade I believe is a B, but the previous season I was offered Missouri so it was already high enough for a power job. I just found it strange that I was offered Mizzou, turned it down, made a run to the championship game, then couldn't do better than Drexel.

Is there a way consistently get coach boosts? Last 2 years I havent received any Coach boosts. I am in my 9th season and I have a B grade. I really want to boost my Teaching and Charisma grades.
Im not sure but I think if you want to just save before NCAA Championship game and see if you get the same offers, to see if there is any differences.

After starting very hot in my simulated season, I loss 7 games in my conference and made it to NIT. We made it to 3rd round of NIT, loss against GSU. We had a 24-9 season. Pretty good considering all the talent we lost. My PF won Conference FR of Y. SR(and FR all-Conference), SG made 1st T. All-Conference, I have a Sf who made FR All-Conference. It was my 7th straight 20+ win season(made 4 NCAA Tournament apperances). I had 4 Coach Attributes Boosts available. I focused on Teaching and Charisma. I have both of them at A and a Coach OVR of B+.I have 2 Assistants with A- Charisma and with my A Charisma, we should be able to get top recruits.

You have to keep completing coaching goals. It's really easy the first few years but then it slows down. Look at your coach profile and navigate it until it shows your legacy goals, it should tell you which ones you haven't completed yet.
