Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I started a new Career Legacy, with Samford..

I'm currently 6-5, but sitting 4-1 in conference play. I'm playing well against conference foes, but I've went on the road to play Clemson and Florida State and the talent really showed. I couldn't do much to slow either team down. I played both close through the first half, but as the second half went on, things went downhill and got blown out.

I'm finding a challenge with recruiting for Samford, but I expected that. It's a lot of fun starting at the bottom with a weak team.. It's going to make it that much more rewarding, when I work my way into a better coaching gig, one day..

Definitely. I like the challenge and the realism of starting at a small school in a small conference and working my way up the coaching ladder. I have nothing against guys who start at big schools, but it's not for me. You wouldn't walk into the gym at UNC and become the head coach right off the street.

Right now I stand at a disappointing but expected 4-11 with Sac State. We just had a HUGE win against Northern Arizona to make our record in conference play 2-4. I was really happy how our team played. By far our best performers of the year. I'm hoping after the first meeting of all the Big Sky teams I'll be used to their habits so I can improve next time I play them and make a run in the Big Sky tourney

Ugh I accidentally simmed a game on my Missouri legacy without saving after several previous victories. This is my Vermont legacy when I turned down Mizzou to stay with Vermont, I was surprised it was Missouri again that was the lone power school to offer. I had my record up to 11-0 thanks to having a completely dominant center, even though he comes off the bench lol. But still, I was pissed when I mistakenly simmed a game. I could have gone back and replayed the 3 or so wins I had but I was jaded and simmed the whole season, now I'm back for the next year and attempting to play every game again.

^ Stuff like that is why I save after every game. It prevents my user screwups from destroying my game too badly...

Anyway, I just finished my first year of my Open Legacy at Florida A&M. Finished 10-19 on the season with a loss in the first round of the conference tourney. Will do the NCAA tourney tonight (I usually watch a couple of tourney games) and finish the off-season. We only won 2 games in non-conference play, but did better in-conference, actually winning 5 in a row at one point.

I have four returning starters coming back next year and I have already signed a decent-looking 3-star recruit who will probably be my 5th starter. I'm hoping we can win some more games next season and at least win a conference tourney game.

A little update from my Career Legacy, that was started with Samford.

I'm now 12-7 (10-3) and I'm tied for first place in the conference. I all ready noted that I struggled badly on the road, with Florida St. and Clemson.

Here's my current Schedule with result.. bolded conference games. Unfortunately, many of my opponents have loosing records, but I am playing with Samford. It's been a lot of fun and a challenge, I purposely haven't messed with my schedule..

                at Evansville (9-10) L
                vs Belmont (16-5) W
                vs Townson (13-7) W

                vs Murray St. (7-12) W

After 4 seasons and 2 NCAA tourneys with St. Francis NY I took a chance at a mid-major job with Detroit, who is coming off of a 4 win season. They only signed 1 kid the previous year (who isn't worth being on the roster), but there was a walk-on C from Europe that has come in and been a huge addition. Sitting at 3-3 in early December, and have some big games coming up....

Kind of regretting leaving SFNY though, I had some good players there and a couple solid recruits coming in....think we could've made a little noise the next couple years

Leaving any school that you have established is always difficult. I feel like every time I change schools, I'm in jeopardy of ending my legacy. You hate to play at schools that you're not happy to be with. With that said, I'm not one to sim games so if I have to suffer through 30+ games at a school I don't wot to be at, the legacy could be over.

feeling realy good in my 6th year at Nevada, just beat fresno st on the road to go to 18-7(11-1 in conf) they are now 10-2. project as of now an 8 seed, fresno is 20-4 and they are projected as a 10 seed. fresno has dominated the conf since i joined winning the conferance all 6 years. but their coach retired last season so my wolfpack maybe set to take the conf over, my roster is full of seniors and juniors so maybe this could be my first time ever past the sweet 16, hopefully

I went through the same feeling when I left my North Texas job for the job I have now at Wake. I was coming off of a NC followed by a Final Four, but my seniors were graduating and I had pretty much done all I could at UNT.

But I definitely had my 2nd thoughts, especially after seeing that 8 of the 12 teams in the ACC started that season top 25, and mine wasn't one of them lol. Also I turned down UNC to come to Wake instead, because I like the challenge of building rather than dominating. But anyways 2 Final Four appearances in 4 years and I don't regret it as much. Hopefully you turn things around in similar fashion.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Finished up Year 2 of my Open Legacy last night.

I finished with a 23-9 final record. Won the MEAC regular season and conference tournament championships. We were actually on the Bubble Watch for an at-large bid going into the conference tournament thanks to some early wins over power conference teams (South Florida and Auburn). We led the nation in scoring all season thanks to our full-court press and up-tempo offense.

After winning the conference tournament, we were given the 12 seed in the West Regional against 5 seed Utah. Looking at the team ratings, they were only 11 points or so overall better, so I figured we might be able to pull off an upset.

The game was back and forth most of the first half. We led by 11 in the first half only to have 2 starters sit with foul trouble. This allowed Utah to storm back and take a 6 point lead late in the first half. We managed to cling to a 4 point lead at halftime.

The second half was much better. Utah couldn't keep up with our press and fast-paced offense and we were getting easy buckets on fast breaks and turnovers. We pulled away in the second half and won by double digits.

Up against 4 seed Michigan State in the second round and no such luck this time. We were down 11-0 before we ever scored, and never could recover from that slow start. We got back to within 4, but no closer. Ended up losing by double digits as we got desperate toward the end and were throwing up long 3's that kept missing.

I went to bed after that, so I haven't finished the tournament yet. Still at Florida A&M for now, but I'm hoping I can get an offer from a mid-major team soon.

EDIT: No offers from other schools, so it's another year at Florida A&M. I got screwed by the CPU in the postseason awards. We win the conference regular season and tournament championship, make the 2nd round of the NCAA, and I still don't get Coach of the Year?!!? It goes to the coach at Bethune-Cookman, who we beat twice in the regular season and once in the conference tournament? Really??

Sorry. I was more than a bit annoyed about that. Can user coaches even get awards in this game?

So in my current legacy I pretty much simulate every game. I play a high tempo game with a man to man press all the time.

I am very far into my legacy, not sure exactly what year as I am currently watching my team in the national title but it is around 30 years.

My Colorado team has won 3 of the last 5 national titles and is currently trying to pull off the threepeat. This is by far the best team I have ever had. 100 overall, 3 players projected as the top pick, and my other two starters projected as lottery guys. In fact my first three backups are projected as first round picks.

This game is the only game I can play a legacy and enjoy the hell out of it without every playing a game.

My team this season averaged 110 points a game with 7 players scoring in double figures.

i started one with Easter Illinois. i do this school every season it seems.. i played like 12 games first season and was getting too frustrated (only having 2 people who could score) and no defense. i simulated the season and finished 1 game above .500 . recruited some decent players, a 6'7 fat SF juco soph (now a PF for me) and a 6'7 C juco soph starting at center. as well as a back court pair from illinois (both 3*) and a 6'8 SF 2*. i've played some good games this season and some terrible games. i'm going to have growing pains for sure, and gave myself a very tough out of conference schedule. first season i had to play uptempo high pressure because my only good players were 2 small guards. this season i've got some beef in the middle and i'm playing a slow down hard nosed defense style. but we have no team chemistry and i've had a few blowouts. but when we play well i can see the potential for this team down the line, hopefully by conference tournament time we'll be gelling and make the NCAA tournament
