Happy Bone will always be my favorite player that I have ever seen. Also, he torched us a couple times lol“If you’re true to yourself, you’re going to be true to everyone else.”Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
Managed to win a title in my 5th year at FIU.
I recruited 2 really good classes, and in year 3 my starting lineup was 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores, all but the Cnter were 4* players (The center was a 3*, but was the #4 center in his class and was a beast). It's a talented team (Like 83 overall), but very low unity. We make the NIT that year, losing in the NIT Final 4. Next year, we have the same starting lineup and make the Sweet 16. The year after, we're an 89 overall with 5 bars of unity at the start of the year, we ended the year with unity in the low 80s. Spent the whole year in the top 25, I think I lost 2 games all year.
We face Texas in the title game. They aren't great at shooting, so I relied heavily on the Box and 1 defense (It's normally my secondary set, I set it to primary for this game). We hold them to 45 points, and cruise to a 62-45 win.
I left to take the Richmond job (They fired their coach after going 4-22). FIU wins a second title without me, which was pretty dope.Football: Denver Broncos

Starting out the next year at an 88 overall with 4 unity. It's a very good team obviously but a step or two back. Should make the tournament with relative ease, we're still in the top 3 of the A-10, but we'll see how far we go.
I decided to focus aggressively on teaching and discipline for my coach, to make my players improve as much as possible. Seems to be paying dividends.Football: Denver Broncos

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
I read through the whole thread a while back and was amazed at how detailed my posts were, and wondering why I stopped doing it. I'll probably write of a review of the last two seasons, and a few updates to previous updates.
Random question: Does anyone else import draft classes into NBA 2K8 just follow careers of former players and storylines from choops into NBA? I used to just advanced through the seasons but it felt empty since I wasn't importing classes especially since I was finally getting freshmen to leave.
Edit: Also has anyone seen any unique recruits? Doesn't have to be your own. I've been following recruits in general lately and even though they're not entirely the same, most of the prospects are pretty cookie cutter.
One of the freshman I brought in was the #2 overall player and #1 SG. By the time he got to campus, he was 6'9 245 with 89 3pt shooting and a 90 overall rating. He's super fun to play with, he torches zone defense with his ability to shoot and can post up almost anyone guarding him. Despite him, I struggled the first season I played, we went 18-15, mananged to win our conference tourney to get to the NCAA's but lost in the first round. We started out his soph year rated in the to 10, won our first 6 games but about a minute in to the 7th game, he was injured for the year. We barely finished .500 with him leading the nation in scoring so its going to be an interesting year replacing him. With him out, we start 4 sophs and a frosh.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
So I'm about to hit my 40th season in my legacy. And for the last few seasons I've been fascinated with the different coaches and the coaching carousel and whatnot. One of the things that always bothered me when looking at real life good coaches records is how choops fails to simulate a good/great coaches dominance. I'm currently going through the best CPU coaches right now and what I have found is what I would consider good/above average coaches have a win percentage around 60 and the great coaches are around 65-66% and this is with coaches with 300 or more wins. Which is pretty far off from great coaches like Brad Stevens, Coach K, etc.
Some people may not care too much about it, and I'm not sure if its even possible to correct, but it fits this thread and it just a thought I've had for a while.Last edited by Brock; 01-19-2018, 09:10 AM.Comment

My "fix" of sorts is to Sim the games that should not be competitive with Hoopcast. As a result, I have MUCH better NCAA and NIT fields during March Madness. This season, UW-Milwaukee is #21 with a roster rated around 87-89 overall, which would be a middle of the pack power conference team by rating. With the sim engine, this UWM team would have lost a few games in conference, taking the RPI into the 100s despite the team being clearly superior to its conference rivals. Air Force, Middle Tennessee State, Loyola-Marymount and Manhattan are all properly projected as at-large selections in my current season.
Because I started this sim house rule midway into legacy, cannot really say if it fixes the coaching records, but it has improved them.Comment

Bothers me, too; I am sure you are not surprised.

Also, I also discovered another "feeder" coaching school. Indiana State. They went on a run a few years ago winning 25+ games in back to back seasons, that coach is currently the HC of UNC and is easily the best coach they've had in my legacy, including Roy Williams. Winning 20+ games in 2 or 3 of years he's been there, bringing in more *5 recruits than Roy ever did, and their actually ranked in the preseason... First time I've seen that in a while.
The second coach after him, is currently In his second year at Oklahoma where he led them into the national championship game in his first year... The first time they've been there in my dynasty.Last edited by Brock; 01-19-2018, 11:07 AM.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
I recently started playing again, and I had two things I've known but never mentioned. One is probably known, but recruits caliber/ranking can/do potentially change from year to year. I save each year my legacies and noticed that one of the one and dones was actually a 4* his junior year. Also the reason why you guys may not see big men at 5*/AA is probably because they drop down to 4* to make room for guards/wings.
Second one is a theory. Schools only hire coaches who are similar to the last coach or maybe the original one. So if there's a coach you feel should be a coach, write his profile down and change it to whatever the coach of the school you think he should get. (Haven't tested this out yet)Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
I simmed like 15 years or so and one year Houston won a title with guys exclusively from Houston or Texas in general. It was incredible. They were loaded and it was pretty cool to see a team made up of local talent.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
Here's an updated list of champions in my legacy, along with the amount of times a conference has won it:

I also noticed something awhile back but never mentioned it here. There was a coach from Butler who left to go to another school, but returned back to Butler when he was fired. Has anyone ever seen that before? He's a pretty good recruiter, but Butler hasn't really performed well.
Also, I'm getting pretty close to the end of my legacy. To anyone that has completed it, does it end after the 39th or does it let you actually finish the 40th season?Last edited by Brock; 03-13-2018, 11:42 AM.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
Interesting to see the A-10 become a de facto power conference in your legacy, as well. The same has happened in my legacy.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
The first year their conference won a title, they had 3 teams in the final four, two were legit and one was a 9 seed.Last edited by Brock; 03-14-2018, 10:57 PM.Comment

Re: Interesting things that's happened in legacy.
I play this game on a yearly basis and last night I found the best AI created freshman I've ever seen in legacy. I DID NOT create this player. Dude dropped 46 in the Mcdonalds all american game so I had to go check his overall once the season started, hes an 89! I'm the coach for Maryland so I'm looking forward to playing against this guy. Just wish I had him on my team. 96 3pt is insane
