Re: All-Star reserves
ZB9,
All you do is whine, complain, and crusade for the Mavs. I know everyone does that with their favorite teams (I do it with the Rockets), and it's cool if you think that your guys deserve some love, but you take homerism to a whole new level. You make it sound like it's some kind of tragedy that Marion was chosen over Howard, or that it will be some huge catastrophe if Nash wins MVP.
anyway, i dont feel that Howard should be in OVER Marion. but Dallas should get the same respect that the Suns and Spurs have recieved from winning a lot of games over the past couple of years. Being among the better teams in the league is absolutely a main reason why the Suns have 3 allstars and the Spurs have 2 this year.
and Howard has certainly played at an all-star level this year and has been a huge reason for the Mavs' success. I know this as a mavs homer that has watched most of their games. Howard certainly would deserve a spot as much as anyone, and being that his team has earned one of the best records in the west this season, and over the past couple of seasons, maybe that should put him over the top imo. That usually does put players over the top when it comes to the all-star game.
It's not that serious man.
thanks for the advice thoughLast edited by ZB9; 02-02-2007, 01:14 AM.Comment

Re: All-Star reserves
just to note, i'm a huge nash fan as well, with him being canadian. but really, marion is the exact same player. amare and others is debatable.
regardless, marion definitely needs a solid point guard to be effective because he can't create his own offense.Comment

Re: All-Star reserves
The Suns would be at absolute best a .500 team without Nash, probably much worse, most likely not even in the playoff race. Hence making whatever numbers Marion and Amare meaningless. If you think they'd still be all stars without Nash let me introduce you toAnd there are tons of other players who should be all stars in your way of thinking then.

Re: All-Star reserves
Too many deserving players in the West, so its understandable that some people are going to have issues with the selection. I would probably be mad if Marion or Stoudamire didn't make it.Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.Comment

Re: All-Star reserves
Wow: Caron for Kwame.
Looking back, if Caron could have had the coaching of Phil and company instead of the mess he had to endure his one season here in L.A., who knows how good the Lakeshow would be with all of their current depth.Comment

Re: All-Star reserves
Did anyone mention that Barkley and Magic thought the Mavs got screwed?
Oh wait - I just must have missed the first thirty times this was said.
Really, I think the fact the Mavericks have only one "superstar" says a lot about their team and coaching. They have a team first concept that doesn't highlight individual stats over team success. Nowitzki, Terry, Howard, Harris, Stack, Diop, and Dampier are all NBA starter-caliber players, and then Croshere, Johnson and Buckner are all rotation guys on almost any team in the league. They are an honest ten deep, and the system Avery runs takes advantage of that.
Would Howard be an all-star if he was on a different team? Most likely - he has that level of talent. But instead he has to settle for playing in the finals last year and with a good chance for a return visit this year. Isn't that more important?
In an effort to not make this just a Dallas thread, I understand Melo's snub, even if I don't agree with it. He missed over 1/3 of the games played thus far, and they weren't lost to injury but to the suspension he brought on himself. If the all-star game was after the season, like the NFL Probowl, then he'd be a lock. But as it stands, he's being judged based on less than half a season, of which he missed 34% of for being an idiot.Comment

Re: All-Star reserves
all i do? then i guess that could be said about most people in the NBA forum (certainly including you) but thanks for bringing it up. I believe it was Chappel that said "hypocrisy is a hell of a drug"...

your right. and maybe you shouldnt get so offended by someone elses opinion.
thanks for the advice though
I said you set yourself apart by going in to white-hot-homerism mode, and it gets real annoying. According to you, if Dirk doesn't get his third MVP it's a sham (AND he was snubbed last year according to you). Where most Suns fans think that if Nash gets his third, cool... if not, Dirk deserves it. You sound like if Dirk doesn't get MVP, its some huge catastrophe. That's where you set yourself apart from everyone else.
Same with the all-star game. You act like its some huge deal that Josh freakin Howard didnt make it, with your only real argument being "look at our record". You have been asked countless times to say who you would take off and replace with Howard but have yet to do so.
The fact is, the fans don't want to see him.
The coaches don't want to see him.
But keep hanging your hat on the fact that Magic and Charles doComment
