IMO him and Dirk were the two best players in the regular season not called Steve Nash...but both are going to be hammered for a year. Nothing they can do will get people off their backs before next seasons playoffs.

    Very harsh on both.
While TMac didn't get it done, he didn't go out nearly as bad as Dirk did. At least TMac and the Rockets put up a fight. Dirk and the Mavs rolled over and died.

Wouuld you mind it if you had millions to go home to and enjoy in the summer?

Seriously man, these guys could vacation in europe somewhere, where noone knows them and relax like nobody's business and not worry about a thing until next season.

Yeah...but that's why I respect both of them. These guys DO care about the game and winning.

Side note: Dirk would have a hard time hiding out in Europe I am currently in Asia and I can tell you that T-Mac wouldn't be able to hide down here either. Him and Yao are the face of the game all through the region.

This season man. The same Dirk carried his team to the brink of the title last year.

Oh I know, I've made that point before here. In the end though, it's what have you done for me lately.

I don't feel that bad. I'm kind of relieved that the Rockets lost so JVG can leave.

His style is outdated and it won't win a championship in todays NBA.

Aside from the boring aspect, his personal grudges with multiple players,

his lack of making any kind of adjustments whatsoever,

his insistance on not running fastbreaks, not ever developing young players

giving rafer alston a pass when he is one of the worst PG's in the NBA (Yes even worse than Smush)...

Yes and his total absent-mindedness for offense is a drag and he is better off in the broadcast booth.

Just watched the press conference as well. He got really emotional there.

Man, I love T-Mac to death and I wish he succeeds in the future. I liked the fact he wasn't blaming anyone for their failure and like he said, he manned up, this loss was on him. The Rockets need to take some load off of him though, he can't be the only playmaker and expect to get far.

I hope this only strengthens his resolve. Like MJ said, "I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed."

Found this quote to be interesting as well (MJ again), "To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate."
"It's not how big you are; it's how big you play" - David Thompson

lol It figures, in a preview for the Suns/Spurs game tomorrow, they show a .5 second clip of Manu, and he's flopping as he takes a shot.

Interesting that a lot of stars are done, although I guess not that surprising (sans Dirk):
                              Dirk
                              T-Mac/Yao
                              Melo/A.I.
                              Bryant
                              Wade/O'neal

All teams still remaining, except for the Cavs, and maybe the Nets, are VERY balanced, and extremely team-oriented.

For Rockets fans, the bigger picture is this:

T-Mac healthy (in a relative sense).

                                Yao healthy.

Experts in the preseason stated that the Rockets would be a very dangerous team in the playoffs with those two healthy.

Say what you want about T-Mac and Yao. They are who they are. What you see is pretty much what you will get.........

This will be T-Mac's 11th year in the league coming up. He's not going to get any better and you are not going to see any more "killer instinct" in him that you haven't already. Maybe a new coach will give a little breath of fresh air..........

Yao has stepped up his game and is the best center in the league. You could say he could have been more aggressive and not settle for 14 foot jumpers so much, but he's come a hell of a long way from 2002. I won't say he can't get a little better.............

But all-in-all, with this configuration of squad and coach with limited offensive innovation, this is the ceiling for the Rockets. This is as good as the Rockets will be, even with two superstars.

S*** gotta change........ maybe it's not 100% JVG's fault that we haven't been to round 2 in his tenure, but before T-Mac gets too old and unhealthy and wants to retire from the game, it's probably best we part ways with JVG before T-Mac becomes a shell of his former self and/or wants to retire. Keep in mind T-Mac is going to be an OLD 28, so don't be fooled into thinking that that is "not that old."

I'm not pinning the results of this series solely on Gundy, that would be just wrong. But if we can find a good replacement, I say cut Van Gundy........ you see pretty much what's gonna happen for Houston when T-Mac and Yao are as healthy as you could expect them to be..............

I mean of course Mac could use more help, but it's not like the Rockets can just pluck someone at 8 mill a year to take the load off as they don't have that kind of cap room.......... it'll have to be B/C rated niche players.......

There was the example by Leon of MJ himself falling and falling and eventually succeeding. MJ had less mileage in 1990 than Mac has now, for one.......

Also, I may not have watched basketball too much back in 89 as I was young, but doing research I see Phil Jackson's arrival helped the squad achieve its best record at the time in about 20 years and the following year they won the championship. Granted I don't expect to land the second best coach of all time as the replacement but a shake-up in the coaching dept. could be a positive thing.

Maybe I'm just being impatient, but it's kinda hard when your team has two all-stars (STARTERS!) in the lineup and can't get past round 1. By far the most underachieving team in the league this decade, which includes when the Franchise was here and when Rudy T was in his last years with the club, but at least Rudy's 1990s squads provided some rings.
