Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
Additionally, I don't think Bill Russell was revered as some kind of model as to how to show or not show your emotions on the court (and off the court for that matter). He was not necessarily your most relatable player to follow at that time from what I've seen and heard.
On a side note, I laughed when Duncan got swatted in the 1st q. after throwing a fake, and then did a "Curly Fine" on his head afterwards to show his frustration with himself....lol. Anyone else catch that?Comment

[QUOTE=X*Cell;3169403]Showing emotion can be a bad thing as well tho. I show emotion on the court, but sometimes I don't as well. I guess certain situations call for it... but nobody ever disliked someone more for not showing emotion on the court. Everyone who showed emotion on the basketball teams I played on were asshats with no self-control. A kid coming to TCU next year grabbed the basketball and kicked it into the upper deck seating after losing a sectional game in basketball.

If Duncan showed emotion, he would have been in the corner with Amare and Diaw watching Game 5 against PHX.Last edited by Sarah; 06-13-2007, 05:00 PM.Comment

What so funny about it? Almost if not all players have been swatted before. Even Jordan was swatted before. Even LeBron was swatted by Duncan many times. LeBron even have that "what just happen" look after Duncan swatted him.Comment

Everyone always says let them play, well the refs let them this time, yet they still get criticized. Fact is, the NBA can't win anymore, no matter what happens. Especially if god forbid the Spurs keep winning.Comment

You don't "let them play" when the other team is TRYING to foul.Comment

It's reality that sport is theatre. People need a hero and / or a villain.
The Shaq / Kobe Lakers were hated by most...so people tuned in hoping to see them lose. Nearly everyone was rooting for Sacramento as though they'd followed the Kings all their lives.
Jordan was loved by most...people tuned in to see him win.
Tim Duncan...few people really like him / few people really hate him. People don't really feel much either way. That's the problem and that's why people don't watch.
Basketball junkies and Spurs fans can appreciate him...most people don't though.
Even as a b-ball junkie, I do find the Spurs games boring often. I don't know why - the lack of personality may be it.Comment

If some of the Cavs shots fall, I love this series. I love watching the Spurs play anyway. It's sort of like watching a chess pro. Every move is methodical, and there are hardly ever flaws in their game. You can't make mistakes against them, or else you're had. Cleveland has found that out thus far.Twitter - WTF_OS

You didn't read what I wrote. Duncan's reaction was "3 Stooges" funny-like. Nothing against LeBron. We were talking about lack of emoting on Duncan's part. That's all.Comment
