Funny you mentioned that Psy cause that's exactly what I thought. This year could be the year again.

I wanna say this will be a tough series, but I think the Pistons could grind it out in 5 with most of the games being close.

Wait, I just saw highlights of this game. Chauncey hit the three to make it 78-76 with 1:52 left, and the final score was 79-76? Wow.

I didn't violate the TOS in any way. I made a comment like everyone else does on these forums. Just monitor the forums and don't worry about me.

I made a joke about tonight's game. Get over it.

I wasn't referring to just one post. It's the whole body of work I'm looking at. Consider yourself warned.

This will also be the last post about it in this thread. If you feel the need to continue this debate (something I do not encourage), PM me.

If Donyell makes that three, LeBron would have been praised as an incredible team player. Any other great player would have made the same call. MJ did but the only difference is his 3 point shooter made the shot. You can't blame LeBron, he did the right thing.

MJ rarely did that with the game on the line though. Rarely. MJ probably would have sent that game into OT or took the contact looking for the "and 1".

Besides the infamous "Kerr kickouts" that are beaten to death, I can't think of one instance in his long, illustrious career where MJ passed on a game-tying buzzerbeater in a meaningful game...and iirc Kerr had hit a couple triples right before that game winner and was blazing hot at the time. Donyell had played 10 minutes and had 2 points on 1-4 shooting.

I'm not saying it was a bad play, and obviously hindsight is 20/20...but Bron has to realize that there isn't a single "reliable" shooter on this team to kick to, and sometimes his contested shots will still be a higher % look than a teammates wide open shot. Alot of those "greats" you mention had great players to kick to. We have one of the worst shooting % in the league for a reason.

Still, I can't complain. We sent these guys a message...contrary to popular belief, this will not be easy.

Even if he lays it up in a contested attempt, he'll probably get a foul called on him and he'll shoot two free throws.

Didnt get to see the game thanks to work but nice to see the Pistons pulled it out. Ive read nearly all the comments on the game and there is no way Lebron should have passed that ball when he could have taken it to the rack, if Im Cleveland I like my chances with Lebron driving, especially considering he had the step on his man, instead of Marshall and his 38.1% from three. This whole thing about playing for the win on the road is an excuse so players can go for shots that arent needed and get bailed out when they blow the game, if Im Cleveland and I can get the game into overtime, possibly have Lebron get hot and carry the team home, there is no way I design a play so Marshall can shoot a three like that, no way at all.

Everyone wants to say that Jordan would have done the same thing, I say thats garbage, he would have initiated the contact and dunked on someone. Its one thing to pass when you get doubled so an open shooter can win the game for you, its another thing to pass up a direct lane to the basket so you can kick it out for a three that isnt even needed at that time. For me personally, its the same old thing that was talked about constantly just last year, Lebron doesnt have that killer instinct and until he does he wont win a title, it just wont happen.

                          .
Macca...didn't MJ also give it up for John Paxsons big shot also?

IMO LBJ made the right play...but he has the wrong players with him to be doing it. So, I guess I am saying that I don't know if it was right or wrong LOL.

                          Textbook = yes.
Reality = Donyell Marshall, game on the line....

I agree with that. Your star player has to make star plays. Granted Marshall was open, but LeBron had the chance to at least tie it, as he was most likely getting fouled on that if he put it up.

                            Oh well, game 2 now.

The Cavs were on the road...if LBJ ties it, the Pistons still get a chance to win it...

And o/t at home. I.e. Detroit likely still wins.

Conversely...Marshall makes that shot, the Cavs go up 1 and they are one stop on D away from a huge win.

I feel like it was the right play.

What we are all overlooking is that Marshall should have hit it. Open 3's don't get much more open than that. He should have made it.
