Indy can't take in more guys then it sends out so it would have to be tough. I think at some point the Celtics will either just sign Daniels or the Pacers will take what Boston is offering. And Big Baby will probably just come back.

The last terms of the deal I heard were :

NJ Receives: Glen Davis, Gabe Pruitt

Boston Receives: Yi Jianlian(?), Marquis Daniels

Indiana Receives: Sean Williams, and either another player or pick(cant remember off the top of my head)

I remember hearing that was dead on a Yi-related post on a Nets forum I think (talking about hos well he's been playing internationally this summer... They were saying that "since the trade is dead" it will be nice to see the newly 'roided Yi play in NJ again.

That just sounds wrong. Getting a veteran minimum at 25. Hoffa was 26 when he was a rookie wasn't he? Might need to change that around a bit or at least re-name it.

I know BOS released Pruitt so I'm not sure if that would still be on the table.

The Cavaliers once thought that they would be able to sign another major free agent in addition to LeBron James next summer, but that is no longer the case. The NBA's salary cap will be $58 million for the 2009-10 season, and the league office has warned teams that the cap could drop to as much as $8 million next year. Cleveland signed Anderson Varejao, Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker this summer, effectively using up their cap space.

Not sure what this means for the Cavs or any other team as far as next offseason goes but maybe Hmac, OSU or one of our cap experts can answer this.

Basically, just the fact that they'll paying an extra $8 million solely in luxury tax to field the same team next year... not something any owner wants to do -- at least get better and make n acquisition if you're gonna have to get punished by the cap. Otherwise it's just throwing money out the window.

In the bigger sense, teams (ahem Detroit, cough) are gonna be mad they signed people like Charlie V, Turkoglu, GORTAT (!), and Ben Gordon for big money, mainly. They'll all be paying luxury tax out the *** when they thought they were getting close to or under the cap while still fielding a somewhat competitive team. Someone like Orlando who isn't a big market but wanted to take a shot at the title and spent a bunch of $$$ will find themselves in luxury tax hell and will end up having to dismantle a contending team just to stay afloat fiscally. Not to even get started on the revenue sharing and all the other stuff that could cause havoc in the NBA for 10-11... that's lockout material right there, especially with all the other economic problems that team owners are having... the CBA's about to get tilted way in favor of the newly cash-strapped owners and the players will have to suck it up, basically.

The real winners here will be teams like OKC who will still have lots of cap next season due to their young cheap players... they'll be the only ones able/willing to offer big money, so they have the pick of the litter of the awesome FA class. I forsee someone of the Amare mold signing for beans after exhausting all their options and not wanting to play for a ****ty team... gonna be a weird off-season, far weirder than if the cap was still going up and more teams were able to bid high as they had planned to for the past 3 years.

The writer is assuming we extend Shaq, and do nothing to move our non-garanteed 09-10 contracts at the trade deadline.

Even if we win a chip, I can't see the Cavs foregoing the 2010 bonanza to keep Deisel until hes 40.

Linas Kleiza is very close to signing a contract with Olympiacos despite his dream is to continue in NBA. The player confirmed the proposal made by the Greek team.
"Olympiacos showed interest in me. I would like to stay in NBA, but if I have to go back to Europe, why not in Greece?" said the forward.
Also his manager Rada Filipovic, confirmed the talks between the two parts.
"Olympiacos has been on the player for one month. We are close but we did not reach an agreement yet. Reds offered a two year deal with a very high salary. Now they have to do the last step if they want to sign the player. We hope to close the deal soon. Kleiza would like to play for coach Giannakis" added the agent as reported by Greek media.

Yeah, the Cavs should be alright. They will have to renounce Shaq and Z, and probably will also not pick up West's option (if they don't pick up his option, West is owed only 500k).

Cavs should be good.

As a Knicks fan it would be nice if something concrete would actually happen this off season. Between Nate, Lee and the point guard search (Sessions, Andre Miller, White Chocolate, etc) it's getting absurd.

I wouldn't mind if he stayed for the qualifying offer, but I'd really glad Denver won't cave in and throw an extension at him. He really is very one-dimensional, and he's not even that good at that dimension (shooting)... the best thing he does is rebound well from the SF spot and run the floor. This will force the front office to address the bench scorer need and not via just standing pat and keeping Kleiza, which is good news to me...
