Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread
Nah, I still think they lost a lot of their versatility, which was what allowed them to get so many clean looks from deep. Having Hedo (who is 6''10" and has great vision) handling the ball opened up so much of their offense... and simply having 3 guys 6'10" or greater in the starting lineup caused matchup issues for the vast majority of teams. Now they have a very traditional positional lineup and added a guy in Bass who can only play PF and is limited on both ends of the ball.
Most of their advantage from last year that allowed those barrages of 3PTers is gone with the traditional lineup... and a starting 5 including Bass/Gortat (which I'm guessing is what they're doing.. with Shard at the 3) is a downgrade shooting-wise from a lineup that had Shard at the 4 and Turk at the 3, both very capable 3PT shooters. Now they've got VC, who is nice from deep but not great, and two bigs who can't spread the floor at all. Shard is just so deadly as a PF, I don't understand why they gave that up. I like Bass and he'll develop some more, but he's a prototypical PF...
I hope they run a Nelson-VC-Pietrus-Shard-Dwight lineup most of the time, because that will at least give them the Shard-at-PF advantage back and some additional floor spacing.. having 2 bigs who can't score from beyond 12 feet makes it hard on the guards...Last edited by Stumbleweed; 07-30-2009, 04:01 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread
Turk would have been a great resigning if he was willing to sign for 3 years or so, but for 5 at 10 million a pop they would be paying an old, slow man.
On the other hand, the Gortat signing still baffles me.
Gun to my head, I'd take 3 years of a productive Turk over 0 productive years of Gortat.Comment

Ryan Anderson might be a good addition, but they lost Courtney Lee. If VC doesnt stay healthy and have an all-star caliber season, I dont see the Magic being better than last season. Carter and Turk together might have been great.
anyway, the East is going to be interesting.Last edited by ZB9; 07-30-2009, 08:13 PM.Comment

How do CLE fans feel about adding Hakim Warrick? That'd be a steal IMO
Cavaliers To Land Warrick?

imageMarc Stein has written on his twitter account that he believes that former Grizzly forward Hakim Warrick will land in Cleveland.
Stein also mentions that Ramon Sessions will most likely sign an offer sheet with the New York Knicks, and the Bucks may let him go now that they have rookie guard Brandon Jennings.
Stein previously reported that the Bucks may let Sessions walk and then use the money on Warrick.

Agh dammit, I was hoping the Nuggets would try to pick him up. That would be a steal.. very talented guy.
They're tlaking about AI in NYC too... Walsh met with Leon Rose and they talked about it, but D'antoni will have to approve it. They're basically deciding whether to go for 1 year (and maybe more if it works) with a cheap mid-level AI or commit longer-term to Sessions..Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

I don't think he needs to have an "All Star Caliber Season" for the Magic to be successful. Maybe in New Jersey he had to be, but when you're playing with a Top flight PG, one of the top Centers in the league, and another big threat at the 4, then there's really no need for him to try and get 25 PPG. That being said, they probably won't have the same record they had this past season, but I can see them floating around 60 wins again next season.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread
Yeah, makes sense taking that spot and having the chance to start for a bad team instead of bring a bench contributor for a contender... at least at this point in his career. He'll probably work his way into a nice contract... solid player.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on guard/forward Bruce Bowen and guard Salim Stoudamire, General Manager John Hammond announced today. Bowen was acquired from San Antonio on June 23 as part of the three-team trade that also brought the Bucks Kurt Thomas from San Antonio and Amir Johnson from Detroit. Richard Jefferson was sent to San Antonio while Fabricio Oberto went to Detroit to complete the trade.#RespectTheCultureComment
