What about our wing position? Other than Barnes and Daniels, who would fit w/ our Wine & Gold?
Barnes, Daniels, Parker um...out of range FA's like Artest, Odom and Ariza...Not really anyone else.

I see the Cavs going after 2 wings and Varejao. They want to have money next year for Bosh. CV is a nice player, but no worth 8-10 he may get from Detroit.

Rumors have been that the Cavs are talking 1 year deal with Wally for a sign and trade. Maybe give him 12 mil or something, and deal him to Utah to help them keep Milsap, and they send us back Boozer.

        From RealGM:
New York Daily News - 07/01 - 9:54 AM EST (AP Photo)
A team source told the New York Daily News that the Knicks will offer David Lee a four-year deal worth $32 million. Lee, a restricted free agent, is believed to be seeking $10 million per year. The Knicks want to retain Lee, but are also trying to preserve financial flexibility for the summer of 2010. "There's no question he'd love to stay in New York," agent Mark Bartelstein said Tuesday. "But you are only a free agent so many times in our career, especially in the prime of your career."

Spurs, Suns Trying To Make Room For Odom
Los Angeles Times - 07/01 - 8:01 AM EST (AP Photo)
The Lakers contacted Lamar Odom on Tuesday night about remaining with the champions, and a number of other clubs are interested in the forward. The Spurs and Suns are interested in Odom, and have been looking to clear room in order to sign him. Odom is believed to be seeking a four-year deal worth about $10 million annually. There are just a handful of clubs - Detroit, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Atlanta, Toronto, Portland and maybe Sacramento - that have enough cap room to sign Odom. "There are not a lot of teams," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. "There's a couple, but it only takes one team to make an offer."

My guess is that Wally would get a buyout clause of like, $500,000 or thereabouts in that deal then?

If Wally would take that, it would be fantastic.

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread

I am not sure I like what Joe D is doing either. I thought the Bulls would be crazy to give BG 10 mil a year, and the now the Pistons might. Charlie V had a good year last year, but I wonder about him also.

I am not sure what their rotation would be either. Unless they think they can play small which won't work as they still have no power C. They would be very athletic outside of the C position, and BG would give them a pure scorer they lack, but so many other worries....

Damn that Kwame signing. I like D. Lee and think he could be a good fit here. Hopefully whatever they do, it works out. I will always give things a chance, but after that awful nightmare that was last year, I am very concerned.

Just read the last couple of posts. D. Lee at 10 mil per is also crazy, so maybe X that out...

I like this idea (not necessarily for Boozer) if Wally's agreeing to a buyout. It's a good way for the Cavs to get around the salary cap while taking on more salary from a team looking to save money.

Unfortunately, they can't do that. The first year has to be guarenteed money.

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread

As a Pistons fan they need someone who can score and Ben Gordan can defintelty do that. Charlie V just depends on the price tag. As far as the big low post center only a handful of teams have that and with Gortat being the current FA getting the pub in that department it tells you how thin that league is at that type of player.

I am still holding out some hope that they can get in some type of discussions with PHX about Amare, if you sign BG and CV i wonder if Prince and Rip could land him?? Or maybe even see if those two can get you Bosh from TOR

Who knows, overall the FA class is pretty bad and no matter who they sign they are not going to get back to being a contending team. Just a situation where you have the space a year to early

And the first year would be guaranteed. But Wally and the Cavs/other team would agree to a buyout of that first year.
Sign and trade contracts have to be 3 years long, but only the first year has to be guaranteed.

Do it Joe! You idiot. You freaking idiot.

SA with Parker/Mason/RJ/Odom/Duncan.. get err done.

Also, Lee getting an offer for 4 years 30 Mill+ aint gonna get it done.. but Lee deserves around 8 mill anyway. He aint no 10 million player SMH at him if he thinks he is.

I think you should read what OSU posted again

He was talking about specifically putting in a buyout clause into the contract.
