I repeat, he does not have a bad FG% at all for his position. Can someone explain that?
I'll let the man himself tell you why. Kobe shoots too many 3s. It's my #1 gripe with him. They're great when they hit, but when they miss any coach will tell you a layup, or a miss 3 is like the first pass in the other team's fast break.

I disagree, Kobe has better footwork in the post than Lebron and he's also very crafty down there yet, he settles for the jumpshot too much. With Kobe's post skills it's actually easier for him to score in the post than Lebron especially when Kobe has guys shorter than him guarding him.

Last thing, Kash, 9 career matches of over 40 shots, so it's obviosuly not a regular occurence. And he only has 1 in the last 5 years. It's not a fair assumption to call Kobe anywhere near a selfish player in 2013. Although his early career is a whole 'nother story. Also doesn't change the fact that he still shoots an above average FG% for a SG. But if you want to keep disliking Kobe as a player, your loss i guess.
so 9 players have shot over 40 field goal attempts since 1985. No other player has more than 4 of those games. Kobe has 9! So it may not be a regular occurrence in general but the times it has happen Kobe has the majority and by a wide margin.

In the last five years in which he has played 323 matches he has one match with more than 40 FGA. So yeah, not a regular occurrence is a massive understatement.

Also do you admit that his career FG% has always been good for a SG? Because that's what the facts say.

For example this past season: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/pl...hooting-guards

        Also: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/3-points/sort/scoringEfficiency/seasontype/2/position/shooting-guards

And while we are at it might as well refute the ball hog misconception:

ESPN is the place for NBA stats! Discover the All Positions stat leaders of the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season.

        For comparison Carmelo Anthony: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/...armelo-anthony
Take a look at the assists. While he has a usage rate of 32 compared to 30 for Bryant.

Anyway i apologise let's get this back to a Lebron James thread lol, but i hope Kash can see that Bryant is not an inefficient scorer, on the contrary he is one of the top at his position.

Okay kash, and thanks for the inbox telling me Kobe is the 'most overrated player in the history of the NBA'.

On topic could lebron conceivably become one of the top 3 in all time career points?

                  Re: The LeBron James Thread

It's not inconceivable. Just some food for the thought if LeBron scores at roughly a 2, 000 points a sewson clip for even just 3 more years he'll roughly be in the top 9 at 32. I think he could at that point have another 3-3.5 elite seasons at 35 yrs old 35 1/2 whoch would mean about 6 seasons at 2, 000 wouls put him in the top 3 or just short depending on Kobe.

He's got so many miles on his body... started from day 1 in Cleveland basically played 40 minutes a game for a decade. On top of the Team USA stuff.

I wonder how long he'll be able to hold up.

Lebron at 28 is more accomplished than MJ at 28. Didn't wanna start my own LBJ vs MJ thread because I know it would get locked, but.....

When LBJ left Cle, they went from like 55+ wins to last in the NBA.
When MJ left, they went from 57 wins to 55 wins.

Now I'm not arguing MJs greatness, but shouldn't those numbers make a strong case for Lebron? I just hate when ppl say "there will never be another Jordan". Really? Who's to say there won't be some dude avg 50 a night 10 yrs from now? I think MJ was such an icon, that ppl sometimes hype him up to mythical proportions. I would take a triple double and a versatile defender over a guy who avgs just 4 points more. Am I way off here?

Quick follow up: hypothetically if LBJ has 4 more seasons exactly like this years... gets the rings, MVPs etc... Is he considered better than MJ? Why and why not?
