I find it funny that when it's to say that Lebron James might be as good as Jordan Lebron's fans don't mind the comparison but when you make a little joke about how the Spurs defense just neutralised Lebron by sagging off him (didn't work in game 6 and 7, don't get me wrong) in comparison to how the pistons used to tripple team MJ you get the enough with the MJ's comparison's line.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Just pointing out that Jordan's comparison are only welcome when they come from Lebron's fans saying how close Lebron actually is or how the comparison makes sense but when you point out a big difference in their game or how Jordan was better at this or that (basically) then you quickly get the stop hating lines from the Lebron's fans. Or the line I got last time was like: Come on stop hating, Lebron is more like Magic than Jordan. When I was just making one little joke about how the Spurs defense acted against lebron lack of consistent mid range jumper in comparison to how the Piston's D used to treat Jordan. (Spurs sagging off lebron as opposed to the Pistons tripple teaming MJ)
If it doesn't make more sense I'am sorry Jeebs, that's all I can do lol.Last edited by Vni; 06-28-2013, 09:42 AM.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Well if you want to be objective.
1. Shot Blocking
2. Post Defense
3. Passing
4. Ball handling
5. 3pt shooting
6. Rebounding ...possibly, probably
7. Easier to deal with as a teammate
8. Also I think it's safe to assume he's stronger.
9. Taller/Wingspan are both attributes and not talents, but they are advantages.

Well if you want to be objective.
1. Shot Blocking (Arguable)
2. Post Defense (Definitely not)
3. Passing (Yes)
4. Ball handling (No, 100 times no.)
5. 3pt shooting (Debatable. I'd give the nod to MJ)
6. Rebounding ...possibly, probably. (Marginally, but I'd also chalk this up to there are no real traditional front courts anymore and that allows LeBron to operate more freely on the glass)
7. Easier to deal with as a teammate (Irrelevant and Jordan got the best out of everyone. He was a much better leader.)
8. Also I think it's safe to assume he's stronger. (We know what assuming does. Jordan was an ox)
9. Taller/Wingspan are both attributes and not talents, but they are advantages. (Irrelevant)
10. Flopping (Definitely yes)Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Now you're just making stuff up just because. You mean to tell me that being taller with a longer wingspan is NOT an advantage in the game of basketball? SERIOUSLY? stop it. That right there seriously mutes any credibility you may have had.
As for post defense he most certainly is. Post defense was not one of MJ's greatest strengths if for no other reason than due to his position and who he played with he wasn't guarding guys down there on a nightly basis. Lebron pretty much plays the PF now. Regardless of any speculation on the quality of today's bigmen it does require him to play against guys in the post more than Jordan had to. Go back and look at the 1991 Finals (full games are on Youtube). Yes Magic Johnson is an all time great, but look at the difference between Pippen and Jordan guarding him Game 2 is a good example. It was noticeable mostly due to Pippen's longer arms.
As for 3pt shooting this isn't debatable either. Jordan himself said he didn't like to focus on that for his game. Whether guys of their talent should be out there shooting is a different discussion, but in light of the fact that he admittedly didn't focus on it yes Lebron is better. He's improved practically every year since coming into the league, and the 3 point shot is more of a focus in today's game.
So assuming is bad now, but not when it comes to assuming the intent of an otherwise innocuous picture that isn't necessarily biased in it's creation... got it.Last edited by Hotobu; 06-28-2013, 10:14 AM.Comment

Jordan had superior footwork, quicker hands in the post and was just as good if not better protecting the rim from the weakside. Glad you were able to do research on YouTube to make your determination off of one series of basketball.
I'm not going to do this bickering with you again. It is obvious that you have an agenda that stretches past discussing basketball because you seem to get butthurt anytime someone disagrees with you.Last edited by JODYE; 06-28-2013, 10:20 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: The LeBron James Thread
im sitting here and im reading all these different post.
and i keep coming back to one very basic question.
given the way things seem to operate around here sometimes, how in the world did this thread manage to last for so long, like 1000s of pages long.
im not saying that it doesnt deserve to last, because its good sometimes to engage in alil friendly discussion/disagreements. even if its gets alil testy at times. so im all for the existance of the thread. but that being said, im still shocked that it even exist, let alone that it lasted this long.
so, whats so special about this thread that it can survive for 1000s of pages, but no other thread like it can survive more than 3 days.
--------------------------------
let me also say that i have no real stake or interest in the lebron vs jordan debate. so know that i only ask this next question off of GP.
how come now that lebron has won another title everybody wants to have comparison discussions?
but b4 lebron won the title this yr, and folks were pointing out certain comparisons or issues they may have had with james for whatever their reasons, why was everybody saying:
why cant we just enjoy the ride, why cant we just enjoy the moment.
but now after the fact and when lebron is champion once again, its like folks are fully loaded and ready to go to war with whomever, about whatever over lebron.
whatever happened to that lets just all sit back and enjoy the ride bs everyboy was talking around here?
again i have no horse in this race, im just making observations, thats all.Last edited by TajDeni; 06-28-2013, 10:28 AM.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

Re: The LeBron James Thread
He is an inch taller and his wingspan is barely 3 inches wider. Not like were talking feet here. It's irrelevant in this case between the two. Pippen's wingspan was freakishly long and 3 inches longer than that of LeBron's. Also, what does Pippen being a superior post defender to Jordan have to do with Jordan being better than LeBron?
I'm not going to do this bickering with you again. It is obvious that you have an agenda that stretches past discussing basketball because you seem to get butthurt anytime someone disagrees with you.
I have an issue with poorly structured and inconsistent arguments. As for Jordan and Pippen defending the post the the point is showing the difference in what happens when someone who isn't used to defending the post (Jordan) as opposed to someone taller and longer who is.
As far as the wingspan issue, I think it's more than what you've stated, and inches matter. There is a tangible difference there.

This is my problem with the back and forth. I just don't like when people don't respect each side.
