At that point in time, he probably didn't even leave MSG or wherever the draft was held and he's already saying this guy is a Hall of Famer.... HE HADN'T EVEN TOUCHED THE OFFICIAL NBA BASKETBALL, haha. Shame on Greg Anthony, and all these other commentators who continuously do this. Can't even watch a basketball game now without hearing the term "hall of famer".

EDIT: These terms are being used so loosely now. Tune into a national broadcasted game of the Thunder v. Bulls, you'll hear someone call Kevin Durant a 'future hall of famer'. The day the Clippers got Chris Paul, all of sudden they became "rivals" with the Lakers... This has got to stop!

Kevin Durant is a future Hall of Famer (assuming he doesn't suffer a career-ending injury) and the day the Clippers signed Chris Paul they became better than the Lakers. Not sure why you have a problem with those two examples.

I sort of agree in a sense at the time of cp3 trade ESPN were all over the clippers saying they were the new team in town and all that and all of a sudden there big rivals with the lakers. Before then the clippers did jack s*** up until then credit to them now there the team to beat in the pacific div. But i think he was getting as the overhype that ESPN gave to a team that had no winning history or had anything close that resembled a rivalry with the Lakers..

Disagree on Durant though he keeps this pace up he will be a HOF no doubt. But agree the HOF term is thrown out too loosely these days on the networks..

The guy has played like 5 seasons... so we're just gonna start labeling him a hall of famer because of what? 3 consecutive scoring titles? Come on son, let him at least play basketball. At this rate, after the end of the '15 season, we'll be calling Damian Lillard a future HOF, based off of what we believe he should do in his career, rather than what we should be doing, basing it off of what he has done in his career.

I didn't say the Clippers weren't better than the Lakers, I said all of a sudden they became our rivals. All of a sudden, perhaps the worst franchise in all of sports becomes a rival to the best NBA franchise in history, cause of Chris Paul. The same team that has 16 banners hanging in the same building of Clipper home games while they debate whether or not to put a division banner up so when Staples Center throws rock concerts, people know the Clippers play there haha, stop that.

Lakers/Celtics, Yankees/Red Sox, Jordan/Bad Boys, Manning/Brady, Alabama/Auburn, and much more, these are rivalries. Not Lakers/Clippers just cause all of a sudden one team gets good. These terms are being thrown around two loosely.

Kevin Durant has visibly and statistically improved every season in every facet of the game, has scored over 12,000 points at 24 years old, and just scored 28 ppg with 50/90/40 shooting splits. He also has one of the best mental approaches to the game and doesn't rely on athleticism to be dominant. I'd say he's well on his way to a hof career. Why don't you think he is, if you don't? Please leave out the immature comments and references to other players.

The Lakers and clippers aren't historical rivalries, but if say they are currently. They are both top flight teams, play in the same division and share the same city. They contain arguably 6 of the league's best 15 players when healthy. Every match between them had been competitive for the past two years. I concede they are not historical rivals, but do you think they are not current rivals?

LOL, no where did I say Kevin Durant isn't on his way to the HOF, the point I'm trying to make is the man is 24 years old. 24!!!!! This discussion was brought up because Greg Anthony decided to call LeBron James a HOF before playing an NBA game... The argument is not that these players aren't HOF's, the argument is that people are just using the term so loosely, bringing me to my next point.

No they aren't current rivals. A true rivalry isn't something that just happens overnight, where are the playoff battles, where are the actual battles, the hatred, look at Bulls/Heat, I won't go on record to say thats a rivalry but those two teams seriously dislike each other, have met in the playoffs each of the past 3 seasons, that's probably one of the few active rivalries if anything. Clippers and Lakers is no rivalry, all they do is share the same building, that doesn't make them rivals. When they meet in the playoffs when it actually matters, they may have something, but as a Lakers fan, Clippers don't mean anything to me, theyre just the Lakers little sister.

                  I don't know man, this:

sure makes it look like you are casting some doubt on whether he is on his way to making the HOF or not.

As for the Lakers/Clips being a current rival, it's all a matter of opinion. I think they are, you don't. It's obvious that you don't think the Clips are as good as the Lakers, and that's cool. I think they've been better for a few years now. It's all good.

We've already taken this off-topic enough. Feel free to PM me if you want.

Why do so many of you think James is going to head on over to Chicago? I'd say the most likely option is that he stays in Miami. As much as I'd love to see him make a return to Cleveland, I don't really think they deserve it after the stuff they pulled when he left.

He's a n00b that doesn't realize that the poll in this thread is 3+ years old, apparently.

As old as the topic is, the discussion doesn't seemed to have slowed down. That said, it does see as though the poll was from prior to "The Decision". My mistake, moving on ...

Why does ESPN keep floating the idea that Lebron and Dan Gilbert would ever co-exist again? I never see him resigning with the Cavs.
