Everything I’ve read about the Spurs not wanting him has more to do with the circus that his Dad would bring. I’m sure they’d have no problem taking Ball the player if that’s all they were getting.

I was moreso curious about how people “don’t recognize how GREAT of a point guard he is” part, especially based on what we saw from him last year when he was hurt most of the year. Obviously, he has the “potential” to get there one day but that’s not guaranteed as we all know, especially when it comes to the PG position.

Can’t say people don’t recognize how great of a PG he is, when he wasn’t one based on last year, lol.

So you really think Ball is a legit baller? As in he is really good? Or he is on his way to playing for the LA Ballers? Or maybe the Chicago Ballers?
Seriously tho, you realize he cant shoot at all right
And that playing with LABron is probably going to end bad for him? Right?
LABron will have the ball in his hands most of the time which will force Ball to just be a shooter, which he aint at all!
LABron is going to play off the ball more, he's in a transitional phase of his career and is the clear PF on this team since they have no one else.

Magic is in his ear...this is the best career move he could've made.

And you just proved my point about how people are too worried about Ball's shot and not the rest of his game.

His dad's circus act is a smokescreen. People are overly-concerned about his lack of jumpshot after his rookie year, which is just crazy to me because he has so much potential in every other aspect. He's got a Jason Kidd ceiling, not sure why you'd give up on that after year 1. But people did focus on that too much and call him a bust, especially you know since Tatum and Mitchell were drafted after him.

I think the whole trade thing has more to do with the Lakers not wanting to trade him than the Spurs not wanting him. I could be wrong, but I would assume unless it's just a blockbuster trade for the Lakers that he's basically untouchable.

I think what Pack is saying is that it's funny to act like he's great NOW when he hasn't show to be great yet. I thought he had a really good rookie year myself, outside of his shooting, but that doesn't mean he's great. Just means he could be.

All I know is Lonzo finished top 10 among ALL guards last year in assists, blocks, steals, and rebounds. Again that's among ALL players that played EITHER guard position last season.

So I am very happy with Lonzos first year, and I'm sure many other members of Laker nation feel the same. [emoji4]

I still think his shot can come around. It's ugly, but he was a good shooter at the HS level and the college level and is still confident in his shot now.

Shooting aside he's good at literally everything else on the floor and makes plays in the open court that not many other players in the entire league, much less just rookies, make. I would give Simmons the edge in his play-making abilities in the half-court, but Lonzo in the open floor.

dude..the reason why people are ALWAYS criticizing lonzo and letting it effect their opinion of him is because he just keeps on shooting like hes curry or something.

if he was someone who takes 1 or 2 threes a game then fine its not a huge deal.

HE TOOK SIX thress per 36 as a 30% shooter...and then add on being a 42% shooter from 2. (which is borderline marcus smart terrioty..who going into last season was the worst shooter % wise in nba history)

you know what..its not borderline..its nearly identical and history tells us that jumpers that look as bad as his dont get better.

im sorry.. i dont know where all this hostility came from..he does have good upside with his size, defense, passing.

                  Re: The LeBron James Thread

Let’s be fair to Lonzo, Westbrook won MVP last year with pretty similar shooting numbers. The problem for Lonzo is that 3s are obviously his weakness at the pro level and he’s shooting the majority of his shots from there. He’s a decent finisher (although <50% around the rim always alarms me - is it bad finishing or poor shot selection?) and despite how ugly the jumper is, a decent mid range shooter.

Somebody just needs to get him in the weight room, build himself up and teach him to take contact and encourage him to slash more. We’ve all seen how Chino Hills let the Balls just do what they want, none of them even attempt layups and that still resonates in Lonzo’s game. Everything else is there at an elite level very early. 7 boards and 7 assists per game is very impressive, the only other dudes doing that are Simmons, Westbrook, LeBron and Green. All he needs to do is find a way that the jump shot supplements his game, not forms the basis.

Y’all better stop talking about my point guard like that.. ZO2 got that crazy ridiculous IQ.. I didn’t like the guy at all, but watching him every night I learned to be patient. Turn off these sports experts and twitter mentions, that dude is a straight up hooper. When he’s 25 or something, he’ll be up there as far as best point guard in the league.

                        Lebron’s Fault:

A cryptic tweet from the newest Laker sent thousands of fans scurrying to an L.A. pizza shop in hopes of meeting him. We showed up, even if he never did.

The only thing similar about their shooting stats was their 3 point %.
Russ shot damn near 10 % high altogether.
Lonzo shot 36% from the field, which is just flat out horrible.
Russ shot 45%, its crazy to me that a guy like Lonzo kept shooting 3's. lol
He shot 6 per game at 30%, lol.

Rob Pelinka on the Lakers perceived lack out shooting:

"There's been this kind of surge of 'hey, where are the shooters?'" Pelinka explained.

“If you look at last year, Josh Hart shot 40 per cent [from three]. Brandon Ingram shot 39 per cent.

“[Kentavious Coldwell-Pope] had a career year at almost 39 per cent and I feel like he's gonna have an even better year. LeBron shot 37 per cent, Kyle Kuzma 37 per cent.

"So just because we didn't sign sort of the poster-child shooter that is a specialist and can just make shots, we felt like we assembled a cast of guys that can really shoot the ball but also defend and be versatile.

“Also, if you really study LeBron and Rajon Rondo and the way he plays, these guys are so smart at creating angles and passing.

“The shooting windows for our other players are gonna be bigger, so that's gonna increase their percentages. We feel very confident in how we landed here."

Also noticed no mention of Lonzo when discussing how Rondo and LeBron will be great at setting those shooters up. He claimed that as of now LeBron is the only guaranteed starter and that they cannot comment publicly on Lonzo's knee but they are exploring all options and expect him to be ready by training camp... Whatever that means.
