He didn't quit there.... He quit off of it.... I still think he would of been in the league if he picked up a well know trainer and take some outside advice from some of the trainers around the league. And he would of been on a NBA team for sure.

                He quit on several teams...

And "I'm not playing off the bench" = quitting on a basketball team.

Faking injuries like he did in Detroit because he was sulking = quitter.

Bailing out on Memphis after a few games = quitter. He could have taken a leadership role there and mentored Gay and OJ...but he quit.

Hell, even Zach Randolph looked mature compared to AI.

                  Does a practice court count?

Iverson is a severely flawed individual. The NBA is a professional basketball organization, he did not conduct himself as a professional for most of his career on or off the court.

                  His story is a tragedy.

Iverson's story is one of a spoilt athlete who just never matured.

Now that I’ve moved past my selfish lament that I’ll never again see Phil Jasner, a good man whose company I’ll miss, I’m wondering how we’ll all recover from the loss of that rarest of combinations: someone who brings historical perspective without a generational gulf.

Very cool, I never saw the full transcript of that interview.

I think he means "tragedy" in a literary sense. Meaning Iverson had amazing potential but was overcome by his fatal flaw, in Iverson's case, his lack of commitment.

No what happened to him during his youth was a tragedy that played out for the rest of his life because he let this setback define who he was.

The tragedy is the system and society he was raised in. Not unlike many others. That is why he has so many hardcore fans, he represents a lot of people who didn't have anyone like them anywhere on TV.

                            The NBA sorely misses this

million people hate him and million love him

his hardcore fans respect him for what he has become after what he has been through, for being real, street and doing things his way ( some see it as quitting)

no one can reasonably explain why after having the best season of his career on a winning team in Denver and being the leader of that team he was treated the way he was in Detroit- rookie coach, a bum pg, hostility, a mess of a team, bench player, Stuckey the bum starting over him..WTF

he is basically saying - if you don't respect me than f you

But the greatest players, like MJ, would not say "F it" when disrespected.. He would win a championship and carry bum players on his shoulders.

A.I. was a great but he wasnt a competitor. It seemed everything he did was to boost his image and he didnt really care about teammates, organizations or winning. He just wanted to look good.

He was a great scorer but never developed emotionally to succeed. Basketball is 90% 10% physical.
