no one can reasonably explain why after having the best season of his career on a winning team in Denver and being the leader of that team he was treated the way he was in Detroit- rookie coach, a bum pg, hostility, a mess of a team, bench player, Stuckey the bum starting over him..WTF

he is basically saying - if you don't respect me than f you
Well after disrespecting the NBA, the NBA said F you right back to him. Now he is overseas.

Man hardcore fans never had a chance to play basketball for millions.

That was his chance, and he decided to let his attitude get in the way.

Your altitude is determined by your attitude, period. This guy is the sole reason for where he is right now.. and its not even a case of people just black listed him, he completely bucked all of the chances he had, and tightened the slack on his own rope.

Dude was thrown into prison on account of some shaky circumstantial evidence during his time maturing. His mother was hardly a nuturing lady.

That system failed him. He made choices that every psychologist, sociologist would tell you are likely.

The sole reason he is where he is now is not as simple as it looks. In fact I would completely disagree with that.

Anyways he had a great career. I don't think it is that bad of a thing. He got old. Everyone knew this was coming.

Imprisonment, pathologic family , living conditions, shady company.

Yet, he broke out of it. Became a worldwide phenomenon as a basketball player. Coming where he's from the guy achieved A LOT. Had a Hof career, no matter all the flaws and things he had to face.

these are overheard lies and predjudice

go and ask Geiger, Hill, Snow, Mutombo if Iverson didn't give a damn about them and the Sixers..he went to wars with them

your version of Iverson is the mainstream one..far from the truth

It seems like I can write an article about AI, makin up false accusations and everyone would believe me. People believe anything they hear from the media and its a straight up disappointment. Iverson's career is more viewed about his shortcomings than his brilliant moments. For every wrong someone can call out in AI, Im pretty sure I can find one in your favorite athlete. My point is that no one is perfect but for some reason, everyone expects AI to be that way and not others. I just dont get it...

                  New Update:

Allen Iverson’s calf issue that brought him home from Turkey turns out to be pretty serious.
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com got the details from Dr. James Andrews, who said Iverson could be out another two months or more.
Andrews said Tuesday that Iverson requires “prolonged rest” totaling at least 6-8 weeks, along with an injection to treat a calcium deposit in his calf. The mass is in a “very precarious spot” because it is pressuring the main nerve and artery that go down the leg, Andrews said.
“He actually tried to tough it out and continue to play while over in Turkey,” Andrews said in a statement released by Iverson’s manager, Gary Moore. “However, he got to the point where he could not really run up and down the court because of increased pain. Unfortunately, he did not do himself any good trying to play through his pain.”
Iverson could be running again in a couple of months, but that’s different than game shape. Iverson tweeted he wanted to return to his Turkish team Besiktas and help them for the playoffs, but if that will happen remains a question mark. Still, considering everything, the fact he will running again at all sounds like a break.

AI wasnt a competitor? I have never seen this man quit in a game unlike the superstars of today. Besides his last couple of season manly(Pistons and Grizz). This man played with scrubs before Denver. I dont know one player he played with besides Weber that was a legite second option.

Not here to change your mind or anything. But any player that avg close to 30 6-7asst 3 stls I wouldnt descibe AI with your words.

10 Years Ago Today:June 6th,2001, Allen Iverson scored 48 in game 1 of the 2001 NBA Finals. I can't believe its already been a decade, I was only 11 at the time but that team still remains my favorite team of all time ( the Phillies of recent years are right there too). But that team was so much fun to get behind; tough, 100% effort, played D, never gave up. I just can't believe its been ten years and to think that was the pinnacle of Iverson career, I wish the last ten years could have turned out a little differently.

I never realized until that video that Iverson pretty much shot a knuckleball lol

Edit: looks like some of his shots were pretty much knuckleballs and some looked normal. Really odd lol. I guess that might have something to do with his inconsistent shot?
