If this season ends up being Dwight Lamar Kobe Gasol... I will not be watching this season whatsoever

Think the Nets are the only speed bump that I can see. (I'm not speculating on things that havent been heavily "sourced" by the ESPN guys).

It will be interesting to see if ORL handles it that way. As bad as "The Decision" may have been, logistically, Lebron didn't screw over Cleveland. I feel like the Melo situation was even sloppier having to be handled all the way to the bitter end and just sloppy play across the board. Orlando can try it the "easy" way and just get it done and see what the outcome is if he legitimately isn't staying in Orl.

This is a new precedent..as soon as someone is unhappy they say im not staying here in their last year to get traded to their team of choice

No wonder people are turned off by the nba...honor your contract then move on

I understand your frustration with the individualistic mentality of current NBA players, however, professional basketball is a business. We cannot forget that teams will trade players and rescind their contracts if doing either is in their best interests. I'm glad that the players are taking full advantage of their talent. Professional athletic leagues are some of the few organizations where the workers are not treated as if they are disposable.
              Dwight Howard fan.

              Finally bought BF3.

                Umm that's not entirely true.

..and thats the whole problem. Its just some form of entertainment now its nothing about the game of basketball anymore. As a fan of the game, who wants to see it reduced to this kind of thing? I am in no way saying CP3 should stay in NO though, I just said its a precedence that I see happening I dont necessarily agree with

LOL We don't get ALL the big men, we just get at least one dominant one, usually THE best one, per decade....ok never mind with this arguement.
Can't blame them, big men in LA are like PGs in Kentucky, or specifically under Calipari.

I agreed, no one complains when teams cut players randomly or just trade them without warning but then it is a major uproar if player decides that they want to leave and not "honor his contract". Honoring the contract should not be a one way street.

Or steve nash staying in Phoenix imo. I kind of agree about the precedence, I hope Big 3's don't become the norm. At least not via free agency.

Just wanted to comment on the idea that Dwight would stay away from LA to not follow Shaq. Who gave him the superman name? Seems to me he's perfectly fine creating a persona that follows Shaq. I think that idea is a bit of a reach anyway, but don't really see the problem either. Shaq is known as one of the best centers ever, has a ton of rings, has done movies and music (didn't say well)... all in all, having a pretty good life. People talked about Kobe trying to be too much like MJ too, but that's worked out pretty well for him too.

Not to mention, Shaq's not the only great C that forced his way onto the Lakers. That Lou guy had a pretty good career too. Can't see why Dwight would let that effect him in a negative way, if at all.

He received the Superman name after throwing(literally) the ball through the hoop during the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest while wearing a Superman costume. I don't think he was trying to parody Shaq, rather, accentuate his aerial abilities.

I'm not going to keep typing the same things over and over again, but I'll politely ask you to examine how similar their NBA career's are. With that being said, don't forget that Shaq has been taking shots at D12 for two years. He's said a number of deprecatory things to bring him down. Look it up.

And since then he has taken the title and run with it (just like Lebron and the "King" label). If he didn't want to be compared to Shaq he would've let that go a long time ago.

I know you're a Howard fan but you seem to be looking at everything based on what you'd like to see happen, not from an objective stand point. Whether or not there is a situation that maybe sort of, could make sense for him to stay in Orlando doesn't mean that's what he wants to do. Hell, Shaq had no reason to leave Orlando (from a basketball stand point) and that didn't stop him. Dwight's gonna do what he wants and what he thinks is best for him.

As for Shaq's comments, that's still not relevant. People can talk about what Shaq's said about him and say he's following Shaq all they want. If he ends up in LA, gets a ring or a few while having to work less than he ever has in Orlando, none of that would matter anyway. Honestly, if it looked like the way for young centers to get multiple championships and a spot in the HOF was to call themselves superman, play for Orlando and then go to the Lakers, they'd be lining up around the corner to follow Shaq's path.

I've already admitted that I probably just want him to stay. However, since participating in this thread, I've begun to feel alot differently about him playing in LA. The atmosphere on and off the court in LA probably makes him moving there the best decision for him....

Let's just hope that Dwight Howard going to LA doesn't mean this:

May get you to change your mind on that one too, lol. Lost in all the "Chris Paul to NYC" talk is that he has also mentioned he'd be happy going to the Clippers... which would certainly make D12 at least a little interested.

CP3, D12 and Blake would be kinda nasty.
