    2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread

    Yeah, that's right...

Seeing as how I'm a Cavaliers fan, I feel like I should start this thread.

Is this draft really as weak as the experts think? I'm of the opinion that the only thing that makes this weak is that there is only one real franchise player in it with Irving.

It's pretty weak, but the top 3-8 could all be solid, some maybe great, players.

    After that, it's weak.

It's a weak draft so far. But with the lockout looming, I doubt a lot of underclassmen are going to declare. I'm glad the Jazz will have a good pick tho.

It's a crapshoot, but it's deeper than last year's draft pool

The only real "Franchise" player in this draft is Perry Jones. Jones is 6'11 and is super-athletic. He will be a SF in the NBA. I say Irving is a 15 PPG 7 APG type player.

Is this even going to happen? Is Irving even going to declare?

I think Sullinger will be very good, assuming he comes out with the whole CBA thing.

There's no way to know if a draft is weak until we've actually seen how the players do in the league.

Perry Jones will be a freak if he gets a little more assertive on the court.

You think so? I bet he's measures out around 6'8. He's still got to lose some weight. I do like his skill set though. I'm just worried that he won't be able to finish over NBA bigs.

Who do you think are some bigs that will be around the 25-30 range, since that where we'll be picking at in the Draft?(Have the Lakers' 1st Round pick this year)

Enes Kanter is ready for the NBA right now. He will be a top 5 draft pick. He hits the glass hard and he's got a jumper out to 20 feet or so. He's got good post moves and is deceptively quick for someone his size. Reminds me of Scola.

Terrence Jones is not ready for the NBA. He will be a top 10 pick drafted on potential alone. He's got all the tools to be a STUD in the league but he hasn't put them together yet. I've never seen someone so strong get blocked so many times in the paint. If he struggles to get his shot up against the mediocre SEC this year, he's not going to get anything up against somebody like Dwight. His stats are deceptive and while averaging 17/9, he's not even half to the player that DeMarcus Cousins was at this point last year. His stats are inflated due to the fact that we only play 6 players and that he's a black hole who when the ball goes into him, it doesn't come back out. Very questionable shot selection and possibly weak mentally. Frustrating to watch him get a nice play and scream his face off and then go get it blocked on him 5 times in the same game.

I forgot to mention Dakkon as well.

Man, the draft does sound weak....

I don't like Tristan Thompson at all. He has the dreaded "potential" adjective attached to him but he's not ready physically nor is he skilled enough.

I don't know hos injury will affect his draft status but if Singleton from FSU falls that far you you gotta take him PP. He has Ron Artest defensive abilities with the same mentality. Offensively he's not gonna give you much outside of hustle buckets.

Id like Jordan Williams for you too but that's a small frontcourt. Soft hands, rebounds well, knows he belongs down low. Hell, you've seen him play. I'm just worried about how tall he really is.

Lighty from OSU would be a good safe pick there too. He'd be able to step right in and play. He reminds me a lot of Derek Anderson. He can shoot well enough, create off the bounce, and usually guards the other teams best swingman. I don't think his ceiling is that high though.

/end my college version of AlexBrady-type rant.
