I'm not saying he's a bad finisher, I'm just saying it isn't a strength of his. You want him trying to force shots up around the rim, whereas you want to turn Westbrook into a jumpshooter. And in all the Kentucky games I watched this year, Knight never appeared to be a blur on the court, whereas Westbrook makes everyone else look like they're playing in slow motion, even in the NBA. They're completely different players. The one similarity is their height and the fact that they aren't really PGs but play the PG position anyway. In the NBA, I see Knight as a Jason Terry caliber player (not saying he's built like him or even plays like him). Just saying that I see him as a guy that can come off the bench and play PG or SG and be a great 6th man.

Not sold on Kanter for the Cavs at #4. He's only 6'10". If we're going to get a big man that can't jump I at least want him to be 7'+. Is this kid really that good? I know he was supposed to play for Kentucky but the NCAA said he couldn't. I never seen anything on him just a couple of Youtube videos which in to me he looked unimpressive, but I might have been watching old ones.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I don't consider Brandon Knight THAT athletic. I think he's a sneaky athletic, but not explosively athletic.
In terms of PGs I'd probably put Josh Selby, Kemba Walker, and Kyrie Irving ahead of him athletically.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Thank you basketball gods. But of course this had to happen in a slim draft. Oh well, I guess.
I'm gonna have to dig up that trade deadline thread because I think I was half-joking about the Clippers pick being #1. Only the Clippers.
Anyways, Kyrie is the obvious #1 IMO. It would have been nice to have a bigger sample size of his college games, but when he was healthy he produced.
As for the #4 pick, I'd love to fleece another dumb GM and trade up with the T-Wolves to get Derrick Williams. I doubt they're taking him with Beasley and Wesley already on the team and I'd bet $20 internet dollars they're going Kemba or Jimmer anyways because A) they're PGs and B) it's Kahn.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. With the Cavs #4 Pick.. Do the Cavs really need a big man that bad? If not I'd consider Kawhi Leonard.
What are you guys thoughts on him?Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I think Kawhi Leonard is too raw on the offensive end for what Cleveland needs. Definitely need guys who can score first and above all right now. Leonard is a tremendous defensive player and rebounder with some good O but not enough for what the Cavs need. I'm hoping they tank this year and get a guy like Perry Jones in next years draft.Comment

Nope and I definitely would not pick him that high. This draft is really thin on swingmen. Too many tweeners.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
This 4th pick will be interesting to say the least for the Cavs but I think they definitely target a pure scoring 2 guard or small forward next year with Perry Jones or someone of the like. Leonard will be a great role player for the next 3-5 years somewhere but right now he's no starter in the NBA.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Raps dropped 2 spots to 5th !
Anyways....thats how the ping pong balls bounced.
I would grab Kemba Walker at 5 and not look back.
My plan for the Raps was always Kyrie at 1 and Williams at 2. If they stayed true at 3 or dropped to 4, 5 or 6......Kemba Walker is my pick.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I'm not either but if they do and most likely will from what I've seen (not much at all) on these guys I hope it's Vesely over Kanter. He just attacks the rim so well (again from what I've seen, which is not much, so take this with a grain of salt). And I think for Kanter's roll as the 7' Euro big man with a 3 ball he's undersized at 6'10" and not that good of a shooter. But he was supposed to play at Kentucky so maybe that says something for what I'm missing here. I trust Dan makes the right decision.Comment
