Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Whether he's right or not, Kahn's an idiot for saying that to the media at all, let alone right after the order was announced. All I heard was insensitivity to a dead beloved former owner and a kid with a serious illness. He could've even just said he thought it was fixed without pointing at either of those things... still wouldn't have been the best time or place but to even go after those two things is horrible.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I agree with david kahn's comments. The nba drafts have been like a soap opera or reality tv show event throughout the years. Its just comical that the drawing is not done for the public to see.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
There are several levels to what Kahn said
1. I fully expect Kahn to wheel in a kid on his death bed and in correspondance with "Make a Wish Foundation" have him represent Minnesota-- with his one wish before he died was to have the TWolves get the #1 pick
2. I agree, the show has gotten out of hand. Do that crap in private but also tape the process
3. Kahn is an idiot with no filter who embarrasses himself consistently. It was the Beasley weed comment, and now the Barmitzfah comment
4. Just because the show has had some over dramatized storylines in recent history, that in no way means Stern is gonna give the best storyline the best pick. Are you serious Kahn? You freakin moron
5. People who agree with Kahn, you're gonna have to explain yourselves a bit moreComment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I regret mentioning anything about what Kahn said. Now it's totally taking over a good thread such as this one.
Love to talk draft with you guys, but if it's going to be all about the NBA and them fixing things, then so be it...Too Old To Game Club

On the media talk shows the nba draft being rigged is one of the topics being discussed. Its out there in the public so david kahn's comments would of came into the discussion one way or the other.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Clearly, Minnesota GM David Kahn did not love getting the No. 2 pick in the draft.
Can***8217;t really blame him (question how he handled it, what he said, but not the natural reaction of being frustrated). Duke point guard Kyrie Irving made a lot of sense for the Wolves (despite all their other PGs, none of the ones on the roster are as good as Irving and Ricky Rubio is still a year or more away), but consensus No. 2 pick Derrick Williams out of Arizona does not. Williams is a combo forward, but he***8217;s not about to supplant Kevin Love at the four, and then there is Michael Beasley at the three. This was not a need position for the Timberwolves.
So they are willing to trade the pick, according to Chad Ford at ESPN.I***8217;m already hearing from sources that Minnesota has told people it***8217;s very open to moving the second pick. Kahn really wants to add some veteran help to the team. That would be a smart move (for the right deal). Veteran help at a position of need would make a lot more sense than drafting Williams for Minnesota. If it happens, this is the kind of trade that happens on draft day June 23, but it***8217;s something to watch for. For the right deal I can see the Wolves pulling the trigger

Only problem with that is there is nobody beside John Wall worth trading on the Wizards..Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
If the NBA Lottery is rigged then Cleveland did not win it because Dan Gilbert's son was there, but more for the **** they have been through the past year. Kind of a way for the NBA to payback the Cavs for the past year. And I'm not going to hate Cleveland for getting the number 1 pick or having Gilbert's son there as the good luck charm, I thought the kid was pretty damn awesome.
My issue is how stupid the Clippers are for trading an unprotected lottery pick.
Now, NBA and Stern, next year, show the Bobcats some love.........please.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Concerning the Clippers, well as was said when the trade first happened, really it was pretty good for both teams.
Cleveland got a lottery pick and former All-Star PG
LA got the chance to have the flexibility to re-sign Gordon and Jordan and also got a former All-Star PG who fits in better with that team than Davis did
Here's what LA's GM was thinking at the time
"The drill is, as always, is 'Is the player you're getting back more valuable than the potential you could get in the draft?'" said Clippers general manager Neil Olshey. "Our analysis at this point in February is that it was more valuable to get a 28-year-old All-Star point guard that we have for the next few years, cap flexibility to make sure we take care of business and re-sign DeAndre Jordan and have flexibility to take care of Eric Gordon as well, as opposed to speculating on another kid that's 19 years old with one year of college experience.
"And I'm not that high on the draft to begin with this year."
But the lottery pick from the Clippers was exactly what the Cavs were after. A Cavs source told ESPN.com that the trade was made primarily for the draft pick.
"We know we're going to have to build this team through the lottery," the source said. "We hope Baron works out, but our primary focus was the pick. We really wanted two top-10 picks to infuse the team with young talent."Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Good news about the T-Wolves shopping that pick. Like I said earlier, I really want to see the Cavs try to cop that pick too so they can get Irving and Williams. I doubt it happens, but it's nice to think about.
Also about the draft rigging, why would Orlando get the #1 pick in '04 or '92? What was the story there?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.
