Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
I'm only quoting this because everything else falls under the convo.
You're forgetting that the next Rose or media picked Jordan is probably in high school right now.
The league will find replacements. They always do every year there's a draft.
Sure you won't have Rose or Howard but those two weren't around for the last lockout. If the owners went to college and overseas to fill their rosters, it wouldn't take long before new stars emerged.
The product is basketball. The players are replaceable.
And yes things won't change if Bill Gates somehow purchased the entire NBA but that wasn't the point. The point is the players need a league so they could play organized basketball that provides them millions of dollars. And it takes billionaires to make that happen.
If the players didn't need the owners, they would be making millions in their little scrimmages they've been running.

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
I think a lot of these agents are doing what they think give the players leverage. Which it doesn't. Of course they're not giong to say "Oh yeah, my players are for the 50/50 deal..." they'll try to play the scare card, to see if the owners will budge, which they won't. Useless tactic IMO.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Go head Fish.. dont even let them voice their opinions on their livelyhoods
Let Hunter and Kessler do what they think is best for everybody
Go right ahead and reject that vote because Sarver Gilbert Sterling MJ Stern and all the rest of them are going to rip several rings of nothingness right into your behinds for being so stubborn
..and its CLEAR that Anthony Parker saying have a season and decert shows he knows absolutely nothing at all about the process nor about whats going on..Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Keep in mind the membership doesn't have to accept the proposal before Wednesday only the Executive Committee has too. So if there is no vote scheduled before Wednesday, no need to think a deal can't be made before wednesday.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Worst case scenario: Anything else.
It the owners stick to the take or leave it stance, the players will approve a desert vote. The league will then cancel games through Dec. later this week. Union and Owners may meet sometime over the next few weeks but no guarantee that this happens. League looks to officially cancel season in mid-Jan.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Best case scenario: The league agrees to meet Tues or Wed. League stays firm on the 49-51 band but gives them a few wins like giving sign and trades to tax teams and giving tax teams a higher MLE. The Union begrudgingly accepts. We have games starting Dec. 10 or 15.

I think season cancellation happens sooner this time. Everything seems accelerated. Could be wrong.Comment
