Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
That will never happen. As much as people love to hate the Lakers, they actually have good management. They haven't been one of the elite franchises in the league just because its a large market and people think the "NBA wants the Lakers to win." Its because they have an owner who is willing to spend to win and two executives (West and Kupcheck) who are able to make good deals.
They will have years in the future where they are an 8th seed or just out of the playoffs but I doubt this team will be a "bottom team"
The Bucks just can't spend the way the Lakers can.
Maybe the new CBA will be beneficial to the league like baseball's CBA. Everyone was tired of seeing the Yankees and the BRox in the playoffs. It's good once in awhile to see the Brewers, Twins mix up in the playoffs once in awhile.Comment

League should have contracted Hornets least season instead of saving Shinn's ***. Either which way I don't really care I wanted Pau on the Rockets but ohhhhh well it happens. We will just have to be content with being a 12-14 lottery pick or an 8th seed for a coupla years.Comment

What the Hornets would have got:
Kevin Martin
Lamar Odom
Luis Scola
Goran Dragic
1st Round Pick (from Houston)
Three starters, a decent PG off the bench, and a ****ing first round pick. Yep that's a terrible trade.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Speaking of Mr. Kardashian...
Like I said earlier, I like Gasol & Odom a lot and absolutely don't mind the deal not going through and keeping them.
I understand the business aspect of it and understand that they just have to be professional about it. But they are just people like anyone else, it is going to be strange for them to just up and report to El Segundo knowing what almost went down.
In the end I feel bad for those two guys. Not like they need anyone feeling bad for them, I get that.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Please, put yourself into the shoes of some of the small market teams. Take a team like the Bucks.
Is there any superstar on that team? When was the last superstar on that team? Ray Allen?
That's all the Bucks have is pieces. They have to constantly overpay people to play in Milwaukee. Michael Redd, Drew Gooden, John Salmans, etc..... they have to constantly eat those contracts or trade them away for someone else's trash.
Lakers ever been in that position?
If not, count your blessings and accept where the other teams fans are coming from.
Even our 16 yr old son is disgusted with what the NBA has become.
The Lakers drafted Kobe Bryant (no one predicted Kobe would be a superstar during that draft) and Derek Fisher and have made solid trades. The Lakers have more resources but every team in major city in every sport has an advantage over smaller cities. Thats just life.
With a hard cap and nonguarateed contracts, there will always be players that prefer playing in LA then Milwaukee even if it means taking less money.Comment

That's because they can afford to spend because they are in a larger market.

The Brewers and the Twins also contend because they draft well and have two new revenue generating stadiums. That has more of an effect than location even though location is a factor.Comment

The Bucks haven't had a superstar in years because they have drafted poorly (except for Jennings and Bogut) and #1 picks like Bogut have been injured.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
It's ridiculous the amount of prejudice held against any and all Lakers fans on this board. Makes me question why I even post here just going to be "dismissed" because I'm "just another dumb Laker fan".
Majority of Lakers fans are pretty happy we didn't decimate our front court depth and were able to keep the size that has gotten us pretty good success (I'd venture) over the last 4 years.
Good to have pieces because A) I'd rather buy a team that has some promise and can win more than 10 games in a season and B) Because those pieces are easier to move in different flex options than CP3 who teams aren't willing to trade a great deal for knowing he's going to leave at the end of his contract.
As Pack will tell you. The power of the Kardashian is no longer with him. So **** 'em.
Pau is making 18.7, 19 and 19.2 mil for the next three years. Meanwhile CP3 is making 16.3 this year. Y'all a trip boy.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 12-09-2011, 10:41 AM.Comment

So every Laker fan in here is going to continue to ignore the 20 something milion dollars of salary the Lakers moved to get back 16? Then my man Drewski said Pau was a decent salary. C'mon Drewski, c'mon son.
