    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Curious to see where Terrence Ross goes. I think whoever gets him will be pretty damn happy. Crazy athleticism, solid shooter whether off the dribble or spot up, and potential to be a very good defender. Also uses his athleticism well to grab rebounds. He was our best rebounder last year and really improved in that area. Isn't very aggressive, doesn't get to the rim/foul line much, and isn't a great ball handler, but I think that is something he can easily improve.

As for Wroten ... I think he's a good guy and I really like him, but he's frustrating to watch. Has absolutely no right hand, beyond terrible jumper, bad free throw shooter, and despite getting to the rim almost at will, he has no touch around the hoop. He does have the ability to make great passes and has good court vision, though his decision making is sometimes awful. He hardly ever makes the simple pass and always goes for the flashy one. Part of the issue is that Washington's big men have trouble catching his passes, so playing with better bigs could help out in that regard. But he works hard and does have a very high ceiling. Despite his flaws he can take over games with his aggressiveness around the hoop. I'm rooting for the guy real hard, because I want to see him succeed just like every other player that comes from the state. He just has a lot of work to do in order to realize his potential.

Raptors reportedly looking to trade their #8 pick.

Toronto Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo is actively looking to trade his number eight selection in the 2012 NBA Draft for an "established, athletic wing man," according to a report.

An ESPN report indicates that Colangelo has begun talks with multiple teams in order to find a trading partner for his lottery selection. Among the players that Colangelo reportedly has interest in are Memphis Grizzlies swingman Rudy Gay and the Philadelphia 76ers' Andre Iguodala.

What remains to be seen is what other pieces Colangelo will package with his lottery pick. Sources say point guard Jose Calderon and his expiring contract, along with young forward Ed Davis may be two of the pieces that could be available.

Colangelo indicated at the end of the season that he was willing to explore different avenues in order to make the team better, but wouldn't say specifically if that meant shopping his top-ten pick for a more established scorer.

Colangelo is entering the final year of his contract and indicated that in order to help his coaching staff move forward, it may be time to unload some of his younger assets for more proven talent.

Recent moves have allowed the Raptors to free up about $10 million in cap space heading into the off-season and Colangelo indicated the cap room has enabled the team to explore multiple roster options.

With Andrea Bargnani, Davis, Amir Johnson and the incoming Jonas Valanciunas, the Raptors have stockpiled frontcourt players and may look to unload one of Bargnani, Davis or Johnson in order to strengthen themselves at other positions.

Davis' rookie contract may make him the most likely candidate since Bargnani and Johnson are both locked into long term deals through 2015.

If Colangelo decides to keep the pick, sources say the Raptors would lean towards Syracuse's Dion Waiters, UConn's Jeremy Lamb and Weber State's Damian Lillard.

Several recent reports said that the Raptors plan to make a push for Phoenix Suns free agent point guard Steve Nash, who was recently named general manager of Canada's senior national team.

Raptor's are in WAY over their head if they plan to do at least 2 of those things listed.

Old news. Tbh if they get a SF and a PG then they're in the playoffs if Bargnani stays healthy.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

Idunno man, I'd be happy if we got Henson. I know I know "his frame blah blah"... but even at his apparent toothpick status he is the 2 time defensive player of the year in one of the better conferences around. Detroit needs a shot blocking defensive presence, I can't figure out why so many fans would be against the pick.

Man if Drummond can get it put together he'd be a monster. What an absolute freak of nature...

So Beal is basically 6'5? Thats great.

Being a huge Cuse fan, I think Raptors fans will be disappointed if this happens. I REALLY dont like Waiters pro potential. If you look back at this past season, he played well the first few games and the last few games. He was arguably one of the worst players on the team once Fab got suspended. Shot around 35% and began forcing things like crazy, lost his willingness to pass and attack. He has awful fundamentals on his shot, a little on the undersized side as a SG and just not good enough to be a PG, not a good defender with the exception of jumping passing lanes. I don't like him as a pro one bit. Much more confident in Fab than I am Waiters.

I would be happy with the pick, but not at nine. You can trade down and grab him imo while grabbing some more assets as well. But again, knowing this front office, that won't happen.

In other news, Sully's standing reach is only an inch shorter than Davis'. He just needs to get stronger and he will be okay at the 4 (I'm talking about in general, not the Pistons because we need a true 5).

Beal at 6'5 is good news for the Wizards so if they take him, that'd actually be a good pick for him because they would have some players with long arms with Wall, Beal and Singleton. Not to mention, Defense has been a problem with them for years so it would help in that regard.

Wasn't Drummond projected to be like Derrick Favors 2.0 on that he would need some time to develop also?

I'm very surprised at Sullinger's measurements. He could be a force at that height and that size. He has a good mid-range game which can improve.

Scary but he may pan out to have a better career than T-Rob.

Most won't like to hear that but it's possible.

I think Waiters will be good. I envision him becoming a Jason Terry clone.

But that's just plain bad value at #8. He's not a #8 at all.

And if these rumors are true...they just hurting any leverage they have. Shut up, blow smokescreens about another player you're high on ("we're going to take Rivers at #8...he'll be an all-star") and then trade down.

I'm not surprised. I think people overblew the situation because of his shape (another key thing: his body fat is only around 10% now). Plus, when you look at him, it's not hard to compare him to Draymond on TV and think "There's no way they aren't the same size." That plus he played out of position during college (really, me and every OSU fan's opinion I could find thought Amir would step in at the 5 some point during the season) made him seem waaay shorter that what he is.
