Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Terrence Jones is going to play PF???
I'll believe it when I see it. He's going to be a 3. He's much like Jeff Green and Derrick Williams
I simply don't like tweeners with no real strong specific skillComment

“@WojYahooNBA: Dalembert and the 14th pick go the Bucks for the 12th pick, Jon Brockman, Jon Leurer and Brockman, sources tell Y!”
“@WojYahooNBA: Shaun Livingston also goes to the Rockets as part of the package, sources tell Y!”
I hope that makes it more likely rockets will take varejao for one of their picks

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
@PackNot feeling Jones and never really have.
Decent first step(when he's not hooking of course)wasn't impressed with his post game(considering he was usually bigger/stronger than the person guarding him)and seemed to struggle with even basic fundamentals. He's basically a player that should've been best or at the least 2nd best player on the court each time but looked to be content just being on the floor.
I don't think he's Top 10 pick but I wouldn't be surprised if someone up there chose him based on his measurements and numbers, which wouldn't be the first time that happened.
He's 216 right now so if he gets in that mid 220 range then that would be perfect for him. But then again, I've always thought that weight was overrated when it comes to the NBA.
He's raw as **** Offensively(not a surprise)but defensively, he's solid there, along with the rebounding. Not a Top 10 or even Top 16 pick to me honestly so I do see why That Guy is not a fan of the Bucks possibly taking him that high.
It has nothing to do with weight Pack, but strength. He's simply not a good post defender and I doubt he ever will be. He's going to get eaten alive by even simple spin moves out of the post. It'd be best to put him against the big with the worst post game. He's going to be playing a lot of Centers, and I don't like that. AT ALL.Comment

That's another reason I hope Drummond still falls to 9 for the Pistons to get. I'd hate to see them draft Henson.@Pack

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
A frontline of Drummond and Monroe reminds me of a frontline of Drummond and Oriakhi.
Neither one of them could get going on the floor at the same time. ehh would know better than me though.
All I do know is that whoever drafts Drummond will need a ton of patience. He needs to be coached up in the worst way.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Monroe is a WAY better/more versatile big man than Oriakhi though. I think it would work. Monroe is better suited as a PF, and Drummond can provide the defense next to Monroe. That would be a formidable front court in my opinion.A frontline of Drummond and Monroe reminds me of a frontline of Drummond and Oriakhi.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Lots of good posts since my last one...
I like it too. I like alot about the kid, I really just don't think the Wizards are a good fit (was mentioned by jfsolo kind of my feeling). The way I think he needs to be eased into a more prominent role and how he needs to develop his game I think would be better on a different team. I have a feeling he's going to be one of those players that (if he ever reaches his potential) signs with another team before he really steps into his own.@wwharton
Man. Barnes has elite athleticsm. He doesn't play like it. His supbar ball-handling is part of the reason for it. That, and he naturally has a more mental approach to the game. I like that. I don't like the fact he can't beat his defender off the bounce because he has to mentally check his dribble.
I agree with this too. Both at what I expect to be their worse will be "good" at something. In Barnes' case, I think that niche would be better served on an established team while MKG can play a role anywhere. At their best, either can be a main clog on any team but since we only know what we know, I'd go with the "defender" (and Barnes actually is a decent defender himself but I don't see him ever being great). For me the tie is broken on the defensive side. MKG looks like a premium wing defender in the making. He could have a LeBron type impact as far as effecting both ends. If he can improve that jumper ofcourse. Which is probably the easiest skill to correct in basketball.
I agree 100% and you can add "Wizards" to your list of teams like Sacramento. He'd be asked to do too much too soon. I'm not convinced his shot has the 3pt range Lewis had early in his career. I can see it getting there but without it coming out the gate, and his shaky handle, I'm not convinced he can take a large role right away. Marvin was hitting 3's in college too.As a Carolina fan myself, I think Marvin Williams' potential when he came out was greater than Barnes' is now, he got on that Hawks team and that was it for him. If Barnes get on the wrong squad, e.g., a team like Sacramento, his development will be totally arrested too. Barnes' ceiling, IMO, is Rashard Lewis, he averaged 20 points a game 3 straight years, when he was in his prime, shooting right around 40% from 3 land during that time, besides an occasional strong game on the glass, was average or below average in all other parts of the game.
That team there would be fun to watch as a neutral observer, but they'd have to win every game 120-116, cause non of those guys can guard a ham sandwich.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
I'd be happy if say the Rockets traded with GSW if Drummond is their, cause everywhere I see they take a wing player if they stay at #7Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
I don't like Monroe at the 4. He has the skill for it just not the quickness IMO. He'll have a hard time covering 4's and he'd be a liability in the P&R game against teams with stretch 4's. I'm not a big Henson fan. However I think he fits better with Monroe than Drummond does. He'll still give you the rim protection that Monroe lacks due to his subpar athleticism. While you can let Monroe handle the post work on offense. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Very good breakdown of Terrance Jones! From what I've seen, this is my break-down of Terrence Jones.
Strengths:
Defense, Build, Quick First Step, Good ball-handling/passing for a PF
Watching his highlights and his strengths and weaknesses breakdown and stuff, he seems like he'll be a very good defender at the next level. At about 6'10" with a 7'2" wingspan and 250-260 pounds already, he already has a good NBA body. He moves well for somebody his size, uses his length well, which bodes well for him as a post defender (and also sometimes getting caught in switches on pick and rolls). He racked up about 2 blocks and 1 steal per game this past year while playing 29 minutes per game. Again, as a result of his good mobility for a big man, he's able to take advantage of this offensively some, by beating a lot of people with just one dribble and a quick first step. He can also handle the ball a little bit and passes decently for a big man.
Weaknesses: Finishing, Motor, Disappearing in games
Statistically, he's one of the worst big men in the draft class as far as finishing around the rim is concerned. This is made that much worse considering the fact that he had a major size and strength advantage at the college level that he probably won't have in the NBA. There's also been questions about his motor. Also, looking at his box scores, he's had a lot of horrific games, shooting below 30% in a bunch of games in his short career.
In my opinion, best case scenario, you're looking at a guy that defends well and gives you 10-12 points, 6-7 rebounds, 2-3 assists, and a steal and a block per game. Worst case scenario, I could see him becoming absolutely buried on a team's bench.
As a Bucks fan, I still don't want him. At the PF position, we already have Drew Gooden, Ekpe Udoh, Larry Sanders, Luc Richard Mbah A Moute, and possibly Ersan Ilyasova. It would be one thing if Jones was a rare talent at the PF position that would likely be an upgrade over these guys, but I personally don't think he would overtake any of them for at least a few years. I think it's much more important for Milwaukee to get Zeller/Leonard/Melo to address the center position, or take a wing (Lamb, Ross, PJIII).#WeAreUKComment
