Re: Dwyane Wade vs Reggie Miller?
Reggie is an Alpha Dog and has the same killer instinct as Wade.
Wade was fortunate to play w/ Shaq in his early years and get a ring. After Shaq left he wasnt killin the league by himself. He didnt lead his team past the first round after Shaq left despite his talent. Dude lost to ATL and BOS.
He's the better slasher/finisher than Reggie but doesnt even stand up in the jumpshot or freethrow dept.
It really depends on the context of the team. Wade looks better on paper but in the 90's he wouldnt have the same production w/ the hand check and harder defense. The and 1s he got against Dallas wouldnt have been called in 1994.
Overall he's the better athlete than Reggie but so was Tracy McGrady.Comment

And since you watched the Finals that year as seen by your astute observation of a particular And-1 call, you must have also seen the way DWade put the team on his back against the better Dallas team. Sure guys chipped in but there was no way we should've beat Dallas that year, but we had the X Factor which was Wade, not Shaq.

One man cannot win a Playoffs series, and if you watched those series, dude was doing everything he could. Can't win against a team like Boston when you're the only worry.

And of course he's the better athlete, and TMac is a better overall player than Reggie too. Wade is also the better defender, which seems to not be brought up in these Pro-Reggie posts because the man had no D whatsoever."To the last minute, to the last second, to the last man, we fight"Comment

Agree with this. Both cold blooded killers.
What? We made the Playoffs Wade's first year here. When Shaq came that summer we made the Conference Finals. After losing to Detroit and going into next year we made an overhaul, getting guys like Jason Williams, Antoine Walker, James Posey, and a dusty old Gary Payton. Hardly the best team in the league that year.

Really? Look at his stats after he came back 100% from his shoulder and knee injuries. He should've been the MVP in 2008 by far. That year he was the first player in NBA history (MJ and Reggie Miller included) to record 2000 points, 500 assists, 100 steals, and 100 blocks. (First person shorter than 6'5" to register 100 blocks). With a season statline of 30.2 Points (scoring champion) 7.5 assists 5 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game, he was clearly the best player in the league.

This just says they're different types of players, not who's better.
Can't even comment on this. This is just 90s biased "X Player wouldn't last a day in the league then because blah blah blah" Every generation says the next one wouldn't last in theirs, nothing new.

Except the clearly Wade was the best player in the league partComment

Re: Dwyane Wade vs Reggie Miller?
Nobody would really confirm he's better since he still plays today but when Wade is gone there will be no debate about this... Miller would shoot three's and was clutch, Wade excels in defense, able to run the point, scores efficiently, great passer, higher I.Q., etc..Comment

Re: Dwyane Wade vs Reggie Miller?
case in point...
when shaq left the lakers and left kobe with a laker team just as terrible as wades miami team, nobody wanted to give kobe a pass for not being able to get past the 1st round. nobody outside of laker fans. even tho the west was clearly the more superior conference back then and he was losing to the offensive juggernaut that was the pheonix suns. but did anybody care to give kobe a pass. no! it was what kind of superstar/franchise player cant get his team out of the 1st round. as a laker fan i lived through this idiotic talk and was very frustrated by it because i knew how bad the team was and also how good pheonix was at the time.
but shortly after this wade lost shaq and basically lived through the same thing, yet everyone was making so many excuses for wade about how bad the team was. and i was just shaking my head because i was saying to myself where were all these excuses for kobe.
im not pointing a direct finger to any 1 person here , but personally i dont wanna hear how bad wades heat teams were back then, cause nobody and i mean nobody gave 2 craps about how bad kobes lakers team was. all they wanted was the results. so im just playing by the rules the nba world as a whole set.
i continue to say it you guys are slightly overrating wade imo and serverly disrespecting reggie.
guys are really acting like wade carried that heat to the finals. that heat team was loaded with quality veteran talent, just like the '08 celtics. yes wade went ham in the finals, but only cause dirk choked the series away and because of the worst case of ticky-tack fouls prolly in recent memory.
yet hear i sit reading countless post talking about how wade carried the heat on his back to the finals (it was 1 series, not the season or the entire playoffs). that wade is an all-world defender (better than reggie yes, but reggie manned up on mj so its not like he didnt guard his man. and wade is a solid defender, thats it). and that wade is a top 3 sg of all-time. (he may not even be top 5 at this point).
he's still in the prime of his career (tho the last yrs). name another franchise player (and wade is, but imo so is reggie) that got his team and legacy high-jacked while that said franchise player was still in his prime? folks wanted to trade wade last yr? but i guess folks misremember that.
wade is a great player, but he's not as great as you guys try to pump him up to be. he's great, just not all-time great imo! and yet here you guys also are being so disrespectful in memory of reggies career. reggie did atleast lead a team to the finals.

Re: Dwyane Wade vs Reggie Miller?
Yes but when your starting lineup is Chalmers, Wade, James Jones, Haslem, and Jermaine O'Neal..I didn't expect to beat a pretty good Hawks team.
This debate doesn't involve Kobe, don't really know why you brought up him losing to Phoenix. It's done, get over it, nobody here is making excuses for anyone. Kobe had a terrible team after Shaq left, Wade had a terrible team after Shaq left, deal?
"Quality veterans" does not mean players who were shells of their former selves, I mean really? Antoine Walker a quality veteran?
Dirk choked the series away huh? Hmm.. sounds familiar except replace Dirk with LeBron, except then I'd be "not giving the Mavericks credit".
And please tell me about these fouls, I've NEVER heard the story of them before. Every series has bad calls, it happens, kinda like when the Lakers "beat" the Celtics in 2010.
He was the leader of the team the entire year, and throughout the Playoffs, and saved his best performance for the Finals. The NBA Finals isn't "just 1 series" either.
Defense isn't an argument here, Wade is a terrific defensive SG, Reggie was far below average. He held his own against MJ did he? I don't remember that part of history..I do remember the Bulls winning every series though.
Wade is not in his Prime hate to say it. That ended last year, he's clearly not the same player he was that first year LeBron came to Miami.
And yes Wade probably will pass Reggie if he continues at this rate, although this isn't important.
And "at least Reggie carried a team to the Finals"? Well Wade has 2 rings. One that he won about 70% due to him."To the last minute, to the last second, to the last man, we fight"Comment

Re: Dwyane Wade vs Reggie Miller?
No he "clearly" wasn't. Reggie never made higher than All NBA third team and he only made that three times. But to speak about the time you mentioned the first year MJ retired not only did Reggie not make any All NBA teams he wasn't even an all star. Clearly that is not something that would happen to a clear cut top 10 player.Comment
