Re: Chris Broussards Sources tell me Trade Rumors and Discussion Thread

If I'm the sixers I say just go for it. Holiday, Smith and Bynum is a LEGIT 3 man core. What's the alternative? Years of being between 6th-10th in the conference? I am very against giving Josh Smith the max, but 13 a year? I'd try to resign Josh Smith reasonably, and if I get that done, I give Bynum the max. If I can't lock down Smith, I let them both go and bottom out. Holiday is locked up and only 22, build for the future in that case.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more action between Atlanta and Washington. One team has two centers and one has two 4s. I'd take Nene and his deal over Smith and his future one, but Smith is the better player. Actually a really good debate there, I'm pretty high on Nene myself. If I'm Atlanta that's the deal I want. Think Horford and Nene is a very good combo.

Rumor of what would basically be a 3 way deal:

      Milwaukee gets:
      Josh Smith
      JJ Redick

      Atlanta gets:
      Monta Ellis
      John Henson

      Orlando gets:
      Luc Richard Mbah A Moute
      Bucks 1st round pick

      -----------------

Can't decide how I feel about it. Basically a guarantee that Smith would only stick around for the season, and LRMAM is my favorite player, and as much as I trashed Henson during the draft process, I like what he's brought to the team. I could see a rotation of Henson, Sanders, and Ilyasova being very nice. I really like Redick though and I'd love to sign him to an extension.
If Redick would re-sign, I think it could be worth it

I like this deal all the way around. Redick isn't the future in Orlando, although he's having an awesome season, I think he is the running for most improved for sure. They pick up a great defender in Mbah a Moute and another 1st round pick to help rebuild, looks good for them. That's a good trade for Atlanta too, basically trading Smith for Ellis and Henson. I think Ellis would fit in well in Atlanta. Milwaukee is iffy because I don't know if Smith will be more than a half season rental but I like the pickup of Redick, I think he could do really well up there with Jennings and Dunleavy.

I'm curious, who would you rather keep, Jennings or Ellis? Since Monta is the only one involved in real rumors, I'm assuming is Jennings. Is it a slam dunk?

I don't like that deal, you're giving up too much for a rental and a role player. And that basically forces your hand to pay Jennings. If you want to keep Smith and Jennings youre going to have to overpay two players who definitely think theyre worth more than they are. Recipe for mediocrity. I like Ellis over Jennings myself anyway.

Nene means more to the team than just numbers and playing center. Considering where the team has come from, I think that'll be too important to give him up. I think Wall, Beal and Nene are untouchable. Then there are a bunch of players that I like, don't think would bring much back in a trade, but are pretty much interchangeable. In another year or two the Wiz should have some great trade pieces but not right now. Unless someone wants Crawford.

Jennings is the one to keep and always will be. He's the better player on the court and by the numbers. Monta is not an efficient player and doesn't do much for his teammates. Jennings, by being a PG, does actually rack up some assists though he shoots far too many bad shots just to get his scoring numbers.

Ellis to ATL is a bad move ... Ellis is a shorter, less efficient Joe Johnson.

                Neither.

Both are ingredients in a recipe for mediocrity. I say trade them both why you can and stack picks.

IMO the Nets aren't getting Smith or anyone else really. We have nothing anyone else wants. Though the summer may be a different story with Humps deal being in its final year officially

Heres what I've come to make of the rumors

Spurs rumor isn't happening, probably something that just caught on because of Ferrys connection to the sa organization

Suns isn't happening because they aren't willing to give enough back and think they can just sign him this summer anyway, which is possible

Houston - see last sentence of suns

Washington - haven't seen too much on this but I feel that Atlanta would be reluctant to trade josh to another team in the division

Phili - that hawes-turner trade had some legs but was ultimately shot down by phili

Nets - the interest is only coming from the nets side, hawks aren't interested in hump and brooks isn't going to make them want hump.

Celtics - ferry wants youth and good contracts, greens contract is too much and sully is too much of a risk at this point

Milwaukee - I personally would be ok with taking in Ellis but his eto makes trading smith for him confusing because it wouldn't do much I doubt we would keep monta in the long run, however Henson or Sanders would be nice additions. This is the most likely destination for him at the moment.

Lakers - if Howard isn't going then neither is smith, gasol is only a possibility by sign and trade this off-season

The report on the hawks definitely trading him by thurs is only speculation from other gms doesn't mean anything. Bottom line is that any team willing to give him a five year max shouldn't have much to worry about if they were to trade for him, even Milwaukee, but it looks as though nobody really wants to. I think he will end up in Milwaukee or stay with Atlanta for now. Not too many dark horse candidates yet, maybe Denver but there is no evidence yet.

If Milwaukee moves Sanders in any deal, I will blow up worse than I did when we drafted Henson.

I can understand that, Henson has seemed the more likely candidate to be in any deal for josh.

I genuinely like Nene a lot as well. I agree with your stance, I wouldn't do that deal from Washington's perspective either, was just curious for another opinion because it seems like the beginning of this year Nene's deal was considered an albatross.

However I would not say he's untouchable. 30 year old players with 30million dollar deals on fringe playoff teams aren't untouchable.

Atlanta doesn't really have anything aside from Smith to however, and there's no way Washington can get them to bite on a deal with Okafor I'm guessing, so I suppose it was a shortsighted suggestion. Smith + Wall sounds like a dynamite transition combination, but a terrible halfcourt one as well.

I definitely agree with this this. I'm just saying that if they get back a player like Smith for one of them, as if they're going to compete, then they'd have to keep one. That'd be even more foolish to give up assets for nothing.

I actually like Ellis at some level, think he's a truly dynamic scorer and not a terrible playmaker. He'd be one of, if not the best, 6th man scorers in the league. Thing is we all know he thinks he's the 2nd best player in the league and not someone who would accept that role, so he's not worth hanging on to. He's his "generations" Jamal Crawford. Give him 4 more years and he'll make some fringe contender very happy.

Jennings is just not going to be nearly worth the contract someone is going to give him.
