Perfect in a Heat uniform
Aside from all this Jordan Crawford talk, I'd much rather see Riley trade Joel and perhaps draft picks for another big with size, such as Dalembert, Koufos, Udoh, or Mozgov. I think Beasley is more than capable of picking up the offensive load when the Heat decide to rest Wade.Comment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
As a New Yorker, I pay attention to the little things in our teams. And on the bench of the Knicks last season, was this man who I feel deserved credit for the team's shooting.
Dave Hopla. A man who is said to routinely hit 495 out of 500 jumpers was the Knicks' shooting trainer.
That's a video of him hitting shot after shot while chatting. He mentions he's helped John Wall before in the video. Possible reason for the Knicks' shooting taking such a hit.Comment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
I'm listening to the Bill Simmons podcast while I fall asleep and he's talking to a Lakers insider. Bill threw out a trade he had been tossing around in his head of Gasol and Steve Blake (aka two expiring contracts/a tryout for Gasol) for Deng and Boozer. The Lakers insider said she thought it made a lot of sense for both sides and went on to say she actually thinks those two teams are discussing that exact trade right now and Bill is like "Wait, seriously? I just made that up on the spot". Lol
Just looking at salaries. Not doing this deal, at the end of the year we have Luol's $14,312,125 coming off the books, sending us into the offseason with a payroll of $64,525,410. After this however, we can go into the offseason with a payroll of $47,725,410. Might even be less than that if any more moves are made.
Can't see Thibs going anywhere though. That's ridiculous. Guys are just picking up on the "tension" rumors and running with that. Dude just signed a four year extension last October.Comment

The same way Boston traded Doc Rivers to the Clippers. I don't think it can involve players, so it would have to be draft picks in return unless they find a work around.

Can't a coach simply resign and sign with another team? Didn't Larry Brown pull that once or twice? Pretty sure so, which is why the Celtics had that clause in the first place. I'd imagine NBA coaches contracts aren't too different than college coaches, where that happens all the time.
Some of these rumors are just absurd.Comment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Rivers and the Celtics had a "non-competition" clause in the contract where he couldn't leave and sign with another team. Boston's control over the situation due to that clause is what made the trade necessary.

Basically it comes down to whether the Owner wants to pay 2 Coaches at the same time.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
I doubt it works like that for head coaches. Assistants? Maybe. Head coaches? Doubt it. If they can resign to take other jobs, I'm almost certain it's only to take college coaching gigs. I say this mainly because I can't think of any coach resigning a head coaching job in the NBA to accept the same position with another team. I would imagine if it were possible, we'd see it happen all the time.Comment
