The Bulls' backs aren't the ones against the wall here. They don't have to do a sign-and-trade.

If they trade Dunleavy, there might be enough to sign Melo. Melo also doesn't have to take the full max either.

So if I'm a Knicks fan, I wouldn't hold my breath on muggin' the Bulls on a trade.

I believe the salary cap goes up also this year.

The Bulls need to seriously settle down somewhere and stop becoming a revolving door for players. Nobody wants to play for a team like that. Its obvious you can't hinge everything on Rose and expect Thibbs to be a miracle worker..

Lol I didn't know it was Broussard reporting. I'll just assume they were just rumors then.

Oh I do too, I agree with that, I'm not even sure they wouldn't waive Felton if the trade happened anyways.. I just liked the idea of adding Shump more so than keeping Collison.. I don't think anyone else involved in the deal would have mattered.

I think the Bulls have been making moves that they made for this offseason. After they missed out on LeBron, Wade and Bosh, they made deals with the bench guys that would keep them under the cap for this offseason. Obviously they had to pay certain guys like Rose and Taj, they're gonna have to pay Jimmy next year, but letting the bench mob go the way they did was about this offseason and having another crack at a LeBron or Carmelo.

I wouldn't even say they've been a revolving door for players because that's not totally accurate. They kept that original bench mob together for two years until it was clear that they weren't going to cut it. They've had bench turnover twice in the last five seasons. I wouldn't exactly call that a revolving door for players.

Not yet but theyre dangling on the reputation.

..and I have a hard time seeing LeBron leaving Miami for Chicago which is even a slimmer chance than when he was leaving Cleveland.

Melo maybe and that's only because NY is screwed up but otherwise they play together and have bigs that would make his life alot easier. Management would just need to continue to commit to building a winner

Did the Sixers buyout Granger? I know they were talks but I never saw anything official.

I don't see LeBron leaving Miami either, but here's the thing, I don't need my front office saying that **** and sitting on their hands running into the same brick wall over that ****. People can't have it both ways. When Derrick Rose bolts at the end of his deal people will be sitting around talking about how they did nothing to get him a star player to play next to him. Yet at the same time, they do what they're trying to do and they're a revolving door for talent. Joakim can't be your second best player and you plan to get by Indy and Miami. The Luol thing had to be done. They offered him 10 mil a year for three years and he turned it down. I like Lu, in a perfect world, he's on my team forever. But I've already seen the movie where he's that number 2 guy. I don't like the way it ended at all. There's an answer to the Bulls' problem somewhere I'm sure, but continuing to be in salary cap hell paying guys like Kyle Korver, CJ Watson, Marco Belinelli, Nate Robinson etc. to let LeBron and D-Wade take turns eating Derrick's lunch. Just wasn't working.

@Chris_Broussard: Knicks to sign Shannon Brown and Earl Clark to 10-day contracts on Thursday. That way, they maximize their 10 days and get them for 7 games

Milwaukee Bucks swingman Caron Butler is scheduled to complete a contract buyout Wednesday that sets him up to become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the week, according to sources close to the talks.
Sources told ESPN.com that Wisconsin native Butler, who is earning $8 million this season on an expiring contract with his home-state Bucks, is on course to be released by Milwaukee on Wednesday and thus clear waivers Friday, well in advance of the Saturday midnight deadline by which time he must be set free to be eligible to play in the playoffs with another team.
The two-time defending champion Miami Heat, sources said, will be at the front of the line to sign Butler, who spent his first two seasons in the league with the Heat and is expected to verbally commit to a team before clearing waivers.
Booo... Don't go to Miami. Dude has been hitting pretty well from beyond the 3 lately.

No. 1: Report: Granger, Sixers still talking over future — Another day, another day closer to a buyout for Danny Granger with the Philadelphia 76ers? Team officials and the small forward continue to talk over what the next move will be: a buyout in the coming days or, perhaps, Granger sticking with the Sixers for the rest of the season. ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelbourne and Marc Stein have more on what may come next for Granger:
Newly acquired Danny Granger and the Philadelphia 76ers continue to discuss a possible buyout, according to sources close to the process.
Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that a buyout consummated before Saturday’s midnight deadline for Granger to be waived and remain eligible to appear in this season’s playoffs with any team he subsequently signs for remains the most likely outcome.
But sources also said Granger continues to weigh other options, including staying with the 76ers for the rest of the season, as the deadline draws near.
Sources said Tuesday the San Antonio Spurs and Granger share a mutual interest if the former All-Star comes to a buyout agreement with the Sixers by the weekend.
It’s believed the Los Angeles Clippers will be another leading suitor for Granger’s services should he become an unrestricted free agent next week.
Spurs with Danny could be interesting.

Sheesh if the Spurs get Granger and the Heat get Butler...

There's pretty obviously only four teams that are realistically competing for the championship this year: the Heat, Pacers, Thunder and Spurs. The Rockets and Clippers are still on a tier below that to me.

Would Granger help the spurs that much more ?i could see butler having a big impact on the heat.
