Aaron Gordon will be in a lot of trouble if he plays the 3 in the NBA.

Re: 2014 Draft Class
^^ Saw some recent article saying GMs and scouts think he's the next Shawn Marion. I do not see that AT ALL."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2014 Draft Class
The thing that worries with me Gordon, especially if he wants to be a 3 in the NBA is that he is a putrid shooter. He's also a 45% shooter from the free throw line. That is awful. He's a good athlete but I don't he is great anywhere.
I would be worried taking him in the top 7.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
I don't think he is strong enough to guard most 4's either. He is going to struggle transitioning to the NBA. He'd probably be better off coming back for his sophomore year, but if he wants to play the 3 that would not work since they have Stanley Johnson coming in (best high school SF).Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

So are there any Embiid skeptics out there? Are are people fully on board with him going #1 overall?"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2014 Draft Class
I was more impressed by Oden and AD during their freshman years, not that that's too damning. Oden would be the best C in the league today and Davis might be the best PF three years from now.
I think the Hakeem comparisons are going way too far. Hakeem was much quicker and more explosive. Embiid has nice footwork but it still seems a bit slow and robotic, like it doesn't come as natural to him. That or he isn't as physically gifted.
I'm such a sucker for a legit big man prospect but I'm not going crazy over Embiid yet - though he should probably still go #1. It's worth the risk.Last edited by ehh; 01-29-2014, 02:23 PM."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

AD in 40 games: 14.1 Pts. 10.37 Rbs. 4.65 Blks. 1.2/1.0 A/TO 1.3 Stls 1.9 Fouls 62% field 71% FT
Embiid 18 games: 11.1 Pts. 7.4 Rbs. 2.3 Blks. 1.3/2.3 A/TO 0.9 Stls 3.5 Fouls 67% field 66% FT
I think Davis is already the best PF in the NBA too.
Hakeem was just a lot more skilled from what I have seen, and was better on both ends of the floor. Embiid has gotten better since at Kansas, but he still has a long way to go.
I think he will probably go #1. If you can get a potential franchise changing big man, especially in today's game where there aren't as many you do it.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
New mock out at Draft Express:
Top 5 is Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Smart
Doug McDermott is at 12, I think that is quite high and wouldn't take him there. It has Mitch McGary in the second round. If he can get healthy he'd be a steal there.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
I think Hakeem comparisons just come from how raw Hakeem was as a freshman. Neither he or Embiid started the year as starters, which is a good reason why Embiid doesn't have an impressive stat line.
But I agree with what ehh said, it's the same thing I said earlier in this thread. Hakeem was much quicker off his feet than Embiid even before he developed the rest of his game.Comment

Re: 2014 Draft Class
Tyler Ennis cracked the top 10 in Chad Ford's big board today. He's going to disappoint if he's taken that high IMO.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United
