Re: 2014 Draft Class
I like Stauskas and LaVine.
LaVine to me has 6th man written all over him. He could come in and back up the PG or SG and give that instant boost in energy and athleticism. If he drops to one of the teams who are already contenders, or on the borderline of being a contender, I think he'll be a gold mine for them.

Another guy I'm interested in seeing where he goes in Clint Capela. I think he has a very very high ceiling, but he's not NBA ready right now. If he falls and gets picked by the right team (the Spurs maybe) I feel like in 3-4 years he could be a very good player.
The draft lottery is the 20th so it will be interesting seeing who are the top picks. I'm hoping/praying the Pistons somehow sneak in and get a top 3 pick. Wiggins or Parker would be decent fits for the team if they get rid of Monroe/Smith.Last edited by redsrule; 05-17-2014, 08:23 PM.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
Figured this could use a bump since most of the draft talk has been going into the off-topic thread.
Bill Simmons' Draft Lottery Karma Rankings
Technicality No. 1: Denver gets the higher pick in the Denver-Orlando–New York scenario; Orlando gets the lower pick; and New York gets nothing because God hates the Knicks.
Technicality No. 2: If anyone leapfrogs Detroit and the Pistons drop to no. 9 or lower, Charlotte gets that pick (so somebody needs to flag down MJ on the ninth hole and tell him he might win a lottery pick tonight).
Technicality No. 3: New Orleans only keeps its pick if it lands in the top three. Otherwise, Philly gets it thanks to the Jrue Holiday hijacking. Er, trade.
Got it? Are we good?
One more important note: Joel Embiid is going to be the first pick of the 2014 draft. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. These teams are full of it. We’re worried about his back, we’re hearing it’s bad … Hold on, I’m actually going to stand under the bull as he craps on me. It’s Smokescreen Central right now. And enough with the Oden parallels; unless Embiid’s pre-draft MRI reveals a career-threatening back issue (doubtful), NOBODY is passing on a franchise center who could easily be described as “The 7-Foot Serge Ibaka.” Stop it. He’s going first. We’re officially calling tonight’s lottery “Bleed for Embiid.”Just for fun, here’s your lifetime NBA Lottery Winner Scoreboard: Cavaliers (4); Clippers (3); Magic (3); Bucks (2); Bulls (2); Hornets (2); Nets (2); Spurs (2); Wizards (2); 76ers (1); Blazers (1); Kings (1); Knicks (1); Raptors (1); Rockets (1); Warriors (1).
But here’s the craziest and most fascinating NBA lottery fact ever in the history of crazy and fascinating lottery facts: Through 29 NBA lotteries dating back to 1985, only one franchise ever won the NBA title with its own no. 1 overall pick. The team? San Antonio with David Robinson (two titles) and Tim Duncan (four titles, two with Robinson). How is that possible?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: 2014 Draft Class
assuming boston keeps and uses both picks i want embiid if hes there, if not smart, if both are gone i want whomever is left out of vonleh or gary harris (vonleh 1st) then tj warren or kj mcdaniels @ 17
---something else to note about lottery winning history...the wolves have never moved up in the lottery (atleast thats what was said on espn yesterday out here)Last edited by turty11; 05-20-2014, 03:22 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Draft Class
1997 was probably the most important of all draft lotteries. That class pretty much stunk as a whole. Even better as Bill Simmons pointed out, Tim Duncan stuck with San Antonio and won titles. Guys like LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal won titles elsewhere.
I'll never forget Boston dropping to 6th despite having the 2nd best chances at landing that #1 overall pick. Got freaking Ron Mercer instead of Tim Duncan.Last edited by areobee401; 05-20-2014, 03:26 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Draft Class
Yeah. That ******* went on and on and on about how the Suns should "tank" and whined when they were winning early and now he wants to talk to us about how we deserve the #1 pick? **** him.Comment

Bill Simmons' Draft Lottery Karma Rankings
Utah deserves bad karma because they let Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap walk instead of resigning both, not letting Kanter and Favors get some PT, and sitting in the 7th-11th spot in the West like the past 4 years. Right. Lol.
Never mind, finally read the rest of the thread and it appears it is on-topic. I used to not mind Bill Simmons, but God he's such an idiot.Last edited by JazzMan; 05-20-2014, 06:32 PM.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

I can't stand Dan Gilbert. I'm somewhat close to hoping this team explodes on itself.Comment
