on the + side Rondo and Smart is going to be a very good defensive backcourt. No Question that's one of Smart's strengths.

I just think he's going to be a guy who gives the Bulls everything he has. I'll be pulling for him to be a contributor and a nice scoring option. I think he'll be that crafty guy who just gets buckets.

I wouldn't worry about Smart, nor his jumpshot. Especially after the way Bradley developed. The guy can get to the rim with the best of them and get to the line. What is really exciting is his ability on the defensive end. He plays a lot bigger than 6'4 with nearly a 6'10 wingspan, solid on-ball defender and can really disrupt the passing lanes. That and his body is about as NBA ready as you can get.

Excited to see how he develops with Boston. I think if he can get his head right, he's going to be in a Boston uniform for a long time.

          Re: 2014 Draft Discussion

Just to put in perspective how efficient and great of a scorer Doug was..

His CAREER (including freshman year) FG%, 3p%, PER, TS%, eFG%, ORtg - are all higher than what Durant had as this years MVP. That's mind blowing. Yes there is a huge difference in college and the NBA, but he's doing that with teams geared towards only stopping him, with constant help and double teams. He's statistically the most well rounded shooter/scorer to come out of college in years. Far and ahead better than what Durant and Melo did at that level.

Hasn't always played in the toughest conference.. But this year in Big East play: FG% 53, 3p% 45, PER 32.8, TS% 64, eFG% 60, ORtg of 127 - still higher than everything Durant did this season in the league. He also averaged 32 points per 40 minutes in Big East play this year. He's ridiculous.

As far as defense, these are the exact claims made about guys like Paul Pierce and Klay Thompson, huge questions about being able to defend at the next level due to subpar athleticism.. His block, steal ratings are more due to him having horrible wingspan ratings, not necessarily poor athleticism.. His IQ is through the roof, he doesn't spend his time on defense gambling which is a better indication of block and steal numbers than athleticism is..

He's not a tweener at the NBA level, he's a small forward.. If I'm wrong on that you guys can all come back and laugh at me later, I don't care. But I don't think there is sort of chance he can/will play PF. If guys like Hedo, Peja, Mike Miller, Mike Dunleavy, Korver, etc. can all play at this level without "athleticism" then he should be just fine..

And I could be 100% wrong, I'm far from an expert. He may be the biggest bust in the draft. But if any team in league could put him in a position to be better defensively because of the system and players around him it would be Chicago. And for his role likely being a bench scorer who comes in and plays off Rose, which should benefit both of them greatly, I honestly cannot think of a team that would be a better fit in the league for him and to utilize him than Chicago.

Only thing that worries me is Thibs is so stingy with his rotations.

Dunleavy will be gone so Doug will have all the opportunity in the world to be one of Thibbs' new 48 minute players...

Edit: I take that back, I thought Dunleavy was a free agent... guess he has one more season

              Charlotte draft:

              Noah Vonleh
              P.J. Hairston
              Alonzo Gee

Vonleh - seems like a pretty well rounded big man who is athletic. Shooting #'s are pretty solid in college. Super young so having a rotation of Al/Zeller/Vonleh will be pretty nice up front. This will light a fire under Zeller's butt to have a solid sophomore year.

Hairston - high risk/reward pick in my opinion. His own father admitted it would be better for Hairston if he was picked by a team outside of this area. I'm hoping he can distance himself from the nonsense. We'll see if the D-league numbers translate to NBA success. Fortunately he only has to beat out bum-*** Henderson.

Gee - I like it. A veteran who is looking for a spot to shine a little bit. I bet he's estatic on leaving Cleveland and coming to beautiful Charlotte.

I still wanted Stauskas though. I feel as though he's going to be a very, very good player.
Not to kill your excitement about Gee, but he had plenty of time to shine in Cleveland as we haven't had a good SF and he actually got worse.Don't get your hopes up about him. Besides, his contract is not guaranteed so Charlotte might just cut him and get cap space. You're better of with Jeffrey Taylor and mkg

And what is this I'm hearing we traded for Gee? That bum, I hope we buy him out.
No need to drop Biz. The guy is an elite rim protector. He's a much better fit beside Vonleh than Zeller is. Hendo and Neal can get out ASAP though.

Gee's contract is not guaranteed so I expect him to be waived.

If the Bulls are able to get Melo or (pipe dream) LeBron, Dunleavy is gone in a trade unless those dudes take a paycut with keeping as many pieces in place as possible in mind.

If you had to guess who do you guys think are going to be busts? I really like this class 1-14 but i think aaron gordon just never going to live up to that 4th overall pick. Dude can't shoot or post up i think he's going to be derrick williams 2.0.

Meh, I think he'll be a defensive minded Small Forward. Without any need to post up or even develop a post game. Idk if he'll "bust" but he could definitely be the guy who never develops into anything more than an average role player.

Yea especially with Exum still on the board. I thought Exum was the guy they wanted all along to pair with Oladipo.

You can use the number in conjunction with assessing the physical tools a player possesses. Randle and McDermott are no comparison. Randle is grown man strong in the post, Doug, not so much.
Randle had really low block & steal numbers at Kentucky. Does that mean he is not athletic? McDermott isn't going to be dunking on people like Wiggins but his athleticism isn't so bad where he will be in a lot is trouble.
