Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I was gonna say it is kinda funny seeing Granger sign with them, but honestly he's not the player he was. He's just looking for another contract, can't be too picky.Indianapolis Colts
Indiana Pacers
Indiana Hoosiers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
But from what I saw of Vonleh he's a long ways off. And I hope I'm wrong on this, but I don't see him as a major contributor this early. Zeller was terrible the first half of last season but played well in the 2nd half so hopefully he builds off that. I have more hopes for Zeller in the short term, but his skill set really doesn't replace anything that we lost with McRoberts. He's a solid role player, but we still have a need at the position.
As I said, long term we're in a great spot. We have 2 talented young prospects at the position. But short term, for a team trying to compete, we either need Zeller and Vonleh to reach their potential much faster than I anticipate, or we need a solid vet brought in to start for a year or two.Tennessee Volunteers

How about the 10.3 million they gave 37 year old Scottie Pippen back in '03 knowing damn well he wasn't going to earn that money on the court?Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I guess I'm higher on Vonleh than most are then. I don't think he's that raw, he has a pretty consistent shot with decent range. He still needs to develop inside and expand it to the NBA 3, but other than that I think as far as rookies go he's pretty solid.
I think in most cases we expect lottery picks to have to come in and be a large chunk of the teams offense immediately. Hornets aren't really in a position to need that. They already have their two bigger primary scorers, and already have as good of an inside presence offensively as their is in the league.
I think it just depends how Vonleh well plays off of Al, which I think he'll do fine because he shouldn't be expected to carry a huge load.
The need for Vonleh/Zeller to produce will lessen if they can land themselves a better scorer/playmaker to start at SG or in a 6th man role though.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
The Bulls had a need and a certain amount of money to fill it. Much like the Spurs need that they filled with Boris Diaw... equally laughable when made. People need to stop chasing name guys. Stats are based on talent and situation. Rip and Dunleavy were put in positions to do more than they should've needed to on that team (what happens with injuries they've had). People joke the Heat for starting Rashard Lewis (myself included) but that was a finals team.
Bottom line is, looking at the 2013 stats of the FA list, sorting from best to worse, and then trying to sign from top down is not necessarily the best way to build a team or address needs.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
That Rip signing was a good one at the time. Had he actually been healthy it would have worked out perfectly for them. We needed him in 2011, but he was intent on collecting that cash from Detroit and that pretty much killed that. He was a year too late coming over.
What does that have to do with anything? Cheap people don't give a damn about **** like that.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 07-07-2014, 05:11 PM.Comment

He definitely looks like a 3 in summer league..
But I thought he would be all along anyways.
Though unless a trade is made I have no idea why Orlando is still waisting time trying to stock-pile power forwards.
O'Quinn, Harris, Maxiel, Andrew Nicholson, Frye, Solomon Jones, I mean how many of them do you actually need? lol and that doesn't even include any minutes Gordon spends there.
