Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I guess I'm the only one who agrees with ThreeKing. Melo said before he doesn't care about money and he wants to win. Yet he signs on with the Knicks who couldn't even make the Playoffs last season, in the East, and for the max. I get athletes just say bull**** most of the time, but I can also see where ThreeKing gets a little riled up when reading these comments from Melo.
If he didn't care about money and wanted to win he would've signed on with the Bulls or any number of teams that could've offered him that. Yet he signed on with the team that gives him the least chance to win and gives him the most money.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I still don't get why Phil Jackson has this aura about him from so many that he's going to turn this around. He's not Pat Riley. At least Pat built teams for his reputation that he gets the benefit of the doubt on everything for. Phil has never built anything. Honestly, before he took this job, the biggest criticism of Phil was that he always walked into good situations and won. There are people that actually question how good a coach he really is for that reason, but now there's a lot of belief in Phil to build the Knicks into a winner? Not saying he can't do it, but man I don't get the sentiment he's gotten around basketball circles.
I think Carmelo is spurting whatever to the media right now and the reality is he considered all factors in his life and figured not moving was his all around best move for him, his family, his friends and his game. If that's the case, I can't be mad at him...
But I'll never know because dude is a walking hypocrisy at the moment...Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
It is funny looking at Melo still saying this kind of stuff whether athletes talk like this all the time or not. Especially when you consider he's already contradicted himself. The day he signed he said his heart never wavered from New York and now he's saying exactly that his heart wavered. But that's even more reason not to get too bothered by it and move on. Money Melo is gonna do Money Melo things. We knew this from the get go. It's always been what he does. He could have lined up his contract to opt out with Bron, Wade and Bosh back in 2010, but he wanted that extra year of money so he didn't. He could have gone to New York straight and had a really good team waiting for him but he wanted that money so he didn't. This shouldn't have been a surprise.
Just have to suck it up, take the L and look forward to our meetings during the season and hope we treat playing the Knicks like we treated playing the Heat for the last four years whether they suck or not. Just do what we need to do to make Carmelo regret the decision for the rest of his life.Comment

I don't believe he has some magical aura about him.. All I was saying is that we don't know what he told Melo, and he and Melo both very well could believe in title contention within a couple years.

Didn't mean for that to come off as magical aura. Clearly I didn't use the right word. Maybe allure would have been better? Or perception? I don't know. Wasn't saying you were saying he had a magical aura to him though.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Yeah I get what you're saying. I feel like a lot of people have hope he'll build a great team, hope that's basically backed by nothing. He's new to this, and I don't have any belief he'll rapidly build a great team. He might, he might not. But those who just expect it to happen more than likely have false hope and expectation. So I agree with your overall point.
But Melo might believe in him, and we don't know what he's telling Melo. That's all I meant.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Carlos Boozer was introduced by the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
The Lakers were not optimistic about landing Boozer during the waiver claim process but did so with a $3.25 million bid.
Boozer heard the news from his agent.
"I was ecstatic and I was jumping up and down," Boozer said. "I went back out there and got two more hours in."
Boozer is penciled in as the Lakers' starting small forward, although he has played power forward throughout his 12-year NBA career.
