Hmm and they went how far the first year without Jordan? Yeah ok they did not make the finals so dont even try and bring that up. Your reaching plain and simple. No one on the game today can yet be compared to Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Cousey, West, etc. This is absurd at this time. Same goes for Shaq being called a great player. Todays game is why I dont even watch the NBA anymore. A bunch of thugs out there mauling everyone. It has become a ME first game and the slippage of fan support shows it.

And the Kobe homers start coming out of the woodwork. They do have some guts though, considering Kobe's latest performance was hardly anything to brag about.Comment

Re: Kobe or MJ?
Remember, MJ was once an arrogant, selfish, never going to win anything significant but scoring titles player.
Ron Harper and D wilkins were considered equal peers.
6 championships later, he's become the God of all living things.
HE converted the critics by constantly elevating his play, adding to his game, and winning.
Same thing is happening to Kobe.Comment

Re: Kobe or MJ?
yeah the bulls didnt duplicate the champship after jordan left. they lost the best player in the world and still won the same amount of games and i believe made it to the next round with out the best player in the world. My point is he didnt make anybody better. They were good the were a better team with him but he didnt make them better. win he left kerr didnt forget how to get to his spot and make a open j. neither did bj arm strong [....] they had pete myers. nobody needed jordan for them to do there job. pippen did what he had to do and so did everybody esle. duplicating there record with out jordan prove he didnt make anybody better [censored] he didnt play point pippen did. Maybe they made him look better because every time jordan got in a pickle they could be trusted to knock down there shots. and get to were they are supposed to be on the court. Those bulls were very disciplined player they new what to do.
Jordan put them over the hump. but he played no part in making them better because they did there job alwayz period. They all played inspired d all the time no matter how many shots he cranked out.
yeah jordan shot 50% but he had games when he cranked out 40 with terrible shooting percentages also. he messed up plenty and you know what the team bailed him out by still going to work. I watched and hodges making 3 after 3 kerr paxon armstrong. all of them were deadly from the three and had great mid range jumpers did he teach them that skills no. the gm new what they could doComment

Not joking! You cats are gonna love this!
I would take Drexler, Pippen, Worthy, Mchale, Barkley off the top 50 and easily stick Kobe on top 50 all time.
Watch me stick Kobe in the top 10 of all time (1. MJ, 2. Magic, 3. Bird, 4. Chamberlin,5. Abdul Jabbar, 6. Oscar Robertson,7. Jerry West, 8. Bill Russell, 9. Kobe Bryant, 10. Shaq)
Barry Bonds in the 90's wasn't even the MJ of his generation. But cumulative, we've come to view him in that way in 2004.
In 2015, (if kobe continues to play) he will have a cadre of awards/titles/ to catupult.
I view Kobe/MJ the same way I see Tiger Woods/Jack Nicklaus. It's inevitable. Whereas guys like T-mac and Pierce look more like Alex English and Dominique Wilkins (good but not truly great).

You made me smile on your post. Honestly, Chamberlain 3rd?!
The greatest Center to ever play in the NBA, 3rd?!. The only player who scored 100 points in one game and lead his team to finals, 3rd? I think he also holds the record of most rebounds in one game. Average 50.4 points per game during the 1965 season and playing 48 minutes per game. He is has the record of 33 consecutive wins in the NBA. He also has the highest NBA total assist in one season during the 1967 season just to prove he is no ball hog like some other player wearing yellow or something. The only rookie to average 37 points per game. Not even Lebron or Shaq can do that in there rookie year.
He was never fouled out on his 14 year career if we talk about class and emotion control. Oh I forgot, if you think Rodman is spectacular as a rebounder, Wilt has the record set of 55 rebounds in one game. During the 1971 season, he and the Lakers set the record of 69 wins in season that was later surpassed by the Bulls. Think how many years was that before it was surpassed. He also lead the NBA in most 40 points per game and still a very good team player to his teamates. As I mention he once lead the NBA in assist in one season. Plus more records because I got tired of typing.
You are probably one of those guys that thinks that the only way you can enter the top 50 greatest players of all time is to garner every trophy, medal and thin cans, can help you to enter that spot. Those players are great leaders and not just great players. Shaq is already in there and he ain't on the top 10. Thanks for the smile though. It was more welcome.Comment
