The good 'ole days? What are you talking about man? We got Corliss Williamson vs. Derek Fisher!!!! Corliss vs. Derek!!! The NBA is set with a rivalry like this. This is instant t.v. ratings!!! (sarcasm . . . all of it).

Yeah, sure. Whatever you say. The fact that teams got away with a HELL of a lot more in those days and really enforced a no-layup policy (like the Bad Boys and the Knicks of the 90's) means a lot more than some stats which might point to their defense being "not that great". Have you ever heard of Joe Dumars? Dumars and Jordan went head to head, and he is known as one of the best defensive SG's ever. Yet, he had to have the team help out on Jordan because Jordan was very elusive.

In this day and age, the slightest touch, it's a foul. Teams rarely go after a guy if they've entered the paint. Intimidation is a LARGE part of playing defense. Don't even pretend it isn't. Teams these days aren't that intimidating on D. Lanes open up quite often when they see someone going for the dunk. They'll rarely ever check someone as he goes up for the dunk, but that would happen in the 80's with the Bad Boys. You're telling me their D was average or sub-par?????? As I've said, defense doesn't just mean preventing someone from getting to the basket. It's also about making the person think several times before even TRYING to get to the basket. And the Pistons did just that.
