I think Lebron is the best player since Kareem.

      Unpopular Opinion:

I hold absolutely no value in someone's opinion on a player that they were either too young or not alive to see play in their prime.

How the F do I know if Bob Cousy was overrated?
      Good job! Good effort!

Just from clips and everything I've saw of him I don't believe he was all that great, he's just so greatly over praised for being an "innovator". Doesn't look like he can shoot, dribbling is very elementary, fairly slow..

Generally I believe most great players games could transition across any era. Watching him play I don't believe that to be the case. I mentioned something about it before and Alex Brady, who had watched him play, had basically agreed with me that he's a player who wouldn't be great against more modern guards.

Him saying that when he is often praising those players from that period was really all I needed to hear to confirm my opinion.

                Re: The Unpopular Opinion thread

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that people who had their primes in the 50's would not transcend eras. That was a very, very different game of basketball.

I think the legends would transcend - Wilt, Russell, Oscar, West etc.

I don't get why a good chunk of people don't think Russell wouldn't be that great when we had someone like Ben Wallace recently. People focus too much on raw size/athleticism when comparing eras IMO. There were freaks in every era.

Too many people think someone like this couldn't play in today's NBA because the athleticism was so much worse in the 1970's...

I also think that comments like "Larry Bird would struggle against today's NBA athletes" is a bit of a slap in the face to basketball itself. There's a lot more skills and smarts to it than most people realize. This isn't football where you're comparing current 350 lb nose tackles to 220 lb OL from 80 years ago in a sport that relies so heavily on raw strength, size and speed. You need to understand angles, moving without the ball and getting people off balance.

So basically him just agreeing with you, lol.

Otherwise, just going by clips(in this regard judging players from before we were born)still makes it tough to tell since they make any player look good.

I think 99% of fans agree with the Pistons comment, since SVG has the dual role in the front office. More unpopular Pistons opinion would be:

SVG finds a way to make the Smith/Drummond/Monroe three headed giant work on the court.

                    or

Jennings and Smith will kick their chucking tendencies this upcoming season.

I think the reaction to tanking is overblown and I don't want them to change the current system.

Building off of what 702 said in the post above, I think that the NBA is much too overreactionary in terms of the rules that they put in place. Whether it's the CBA, the lottery, or other things, I think that they go overboard to correct what they see as issues, and it ends up hurting the league in different areas that were previously unaffected.

If you asked me to name a particular rule in reference to this I probably couldn't... just a general feeling and opinion that I have.

Society in general is too over reactionary especially with Sports.

LeBron and Kyrie are the best 1-2 combo in the East.

They haven't even played a game together haha..

Though a couple weeks into the season this might not be an unpopular opinion at all.

Right now I would take cousins over Dwight , Drummond, Deandre, McGhee, Monroe, and Noah .
