no im sorry , i really dont look at color in a basketball game. I am to busy watching the game.
I honestly have never thought about it.
I happen to be a white person who experienced racism as a player from a black coach. But i dont look at players or coaches color , but i know (from experience^) that ignorance , racism , just plain dumbness exists.

I dont know what color the players are. I know people are sometimes greatly affected by image so who knows what more white stars would do ? Any unnatural selection method would be unnecessarily risky. The last thing i want to see is athletes selected without merit. Let the chips fall.

I agree with you with alot of what you said in this post and its not being PC its the truth as the lack of fundamental fun baskeyball multiolies in the NBA people stop watching. As far as NFL is concerned it goes the same way. As long as players Black WHite or what ever pplay at a high level people will watch. If you think any different you may have a hint of race bias in you.

Money wise Corporate AMerica sells what people buy and I garuntee that McNair and Vick Jersies sell more the MAnning and Farve ones do. And check out the commercials during games you might see a GMC commercial with country music or a damn old navy one with rap so race is not as important than what sells.

Re: For those who are white-americans...

                  Very interesting discussion.

I heard on 'Outside the Lines' that at the end of the regular season, there were only 50 white-Americans in the NBA. 13% of the league. And only 1 in the NBA finals, Luke Walton. I don't know what that means or how it affects the audience, I just found it interesting.

I'm a white guy, and I lost interest in the NBA several years ago. I was never a hard-core fan, but I followed it pretty closely. Would a white star get my attention? Probably, but more as a novelty act than anything else. It would likely increase interest in the league overall, but I expect that would pass.

I can't really explain why I've lost interest in the NBA, I just have. I don't follow the predominately white sports either, so I don't believe it's race. I don't care about NASCAR, golf or soccer, and I barely follow tennis and the NHL. I hardly care for the NFL even anymore. Baseball is really the only sport I'm passionate about these days.

I really haven't cared much for the NBA since the lockout, but I don't think that's the reason.

And as I said before, I've never been a hard-core fan, so I probably wouldn't have noticed much the decline in fundamentals, as many people mention.

I'm not sure what it would take for me to start following the NBA again, but I know it wouldn't be a white star. I used to be a fan of the NBA, and there weren't many white players then either.

Actually, as I'm typing this reply, I may have realized the reason I no longer enjoy NBA basketball. When I followed the NBA, I enjoyed the action. There's just not as much action in an NBA game these days. The games have become predictable and just aren't much fun to watch. Unless you're a hard-core fan, as many of you obviously are.

Anyway, that's my $.02. Hopefully I've provided a little insight into the mind of a "casual" NBA fan, who's lost interest.

Well, from seeing Outside the Lines tonight, they pretty much said most of what we said in this thread. It would probably make a difference and every kid they talked to at the high schools said the same thing.

Agreed, and I don't really see many big time white players in the pipeline ready to enter the league.

I agree with you both...I think that a few more big time white players would help the NBA gain popularity with white middle america, people who may not be into the game right now. Personally though, I could care less...I'm a Pistons fan, and a fan of the game, so I like watching basketball, could care less what color the people playing it are.
