Again, see Bill Laimbeer. You don't have to be black to be a thug.

Way too much PC talk in this thread, especially since their are some older people on this board. It probably doesn't matter to young white people who love the sport but a lot of old white men would watch basketball more often if they could identify with more players of their skin color.

Yeah I would have to disagree. I am an older person on the board. The league wasn't a whole lot "whiter" when I was growing up, and I lived for the NBA. A bad, bad product that's not fun to watch is what has turned me off the NBA. Hell I can identify with the players now better than I could back in the 80's, I can shoot 10 for 32 just like Allen Iverson continually does. Doesn't mean I want to watch it on TV.

my 2 cents on this thread. Basketball lost it luster when coaches wanted to slow there game down. The athletes are superior in speed and jumping reactiions time and all that. But there conditioning is what is lacking. kobe and hamilton are the exception to the rule. Centers used to run the floor like guards. The game has slowed down because you cant push these cocky [censored] player as pros and you cant push them much as college player and you may only have them one year anyways.

They dont want to work out in the off season. Money and the coach not having no control. Stop firing coaches for the players. start having thing wriiten in the contract if said players is to get this max contract then said player has to do this or risk paycut or they are out of there.

The reason why the scoring is down and the people cant average 20 rebounds a game or have 10 people in the league average close to 30 points. is because they never let the clock get near the 24 second violation they ran the court it was like the play ground down there. They say they played good d i watch sports center and watch old game and i didnt see any d other than blocks and steals. no one truely put the clamps on anyone. just good rebounding or was it good rebound they hoisted up a lot of shot back then.

Now on the nfl and black qb. I dont know if white america would turn off there tv and watch nascar instead if there were more black qb's. But i do feel that is the hardest position to play and i do feel that the black qb doesnt get a full chance when they come in. They always want to convert them to rb and wr. or they do a quincy carter on them. Get to the playoff and they still are looking to replace you. Things like this the limbaugh comments and comments even spoken on sportcenter. the historians sayed there was a belief that the black athlete were not smart enough to be qb couldnt think fast enough to make the spit second decision. this i seen on sportcenter a couple of months ago. So maybe those people who believe that will stop watching if there are more black starting qb.
one more thing have you notice what teams have black qb. they are either heavily populated by blacks. atlanta, phily or the coach was black at the time they were drafted. There are exceptions to this i would have to look it up.

As for the white athlete in basketball. they do need a superstar as does every race in every sports kids should have some one to look up to that went through there same experience. rather it coming from the hood or the burbs it always nice to see some one who looks like you acheive. They dont have to be a white superstar but it would be nice to have some. If they have them there will more kids likely trying to be like him that look like him. dr j and jordan magic chamberlain etc. They all lit a fire under little black boys to want to be like them get there. inspiration is what they give you and everybody race should be represented so little white boys go out and learn the craft you may have to leave the burbs to perfect your crossover and driving skills then go home and shoot jumpers in you driveway. nene and yao mean alot to there people as does duncan and parker.
